Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm BLCKDGRD:

Do hope there's no failure to play some Branca.
Avatar 3:28pm βrian:

I came for de failure, but stayed for debacle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Isn't the internet great? You don't have to work very hard to find plenty of failure. The internet is like 87% failure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Devin B.:

Just gonna turn it up a tad
Avatar 3:52pm Fabio:

Oh Yeah, forgot to mention that: TURN IT UP AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE!
  3:53pm nic:

Is Glen Branca jazz?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm rbx:

Wild Neil: I would say not.
Avatar 3:58pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Is Glen Branca darkwave?
  3:59pm Dean:

Not to worry. This morning Trouble played a tune by the National Jazz Trio of Scotland. Wasn't jazz. Wasn't "national," nor from Scotland. Might have been a trio, though.
Avatar 4:08pm northguineahills:

Always loved Brance! He was great live!
  4:08pm mary:

Lesson No. 1
Live, it was gigantically, ecstatically wonderful & it even sounds great on the radio. Wow.
Thank you, Fabio! Was hoping you would...inc #3 and more, I hope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm Devin B.:

Is No. 2 with Z'ev on percussion?
  4:21pm nic:

listened to him all day yesterday_great to listen again!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Michael 98145:

Branca was among the first CDs i ever bought. Have to dig them out ...
Avatar 4:30pm Cheri Pi:

I'm listening to this during a storm under my porch umbrella with wine and it is so g.d. good!!!
Avatar 4:32pm Jersey Cowboy:

Thanks Fabio!
Avatar 4:32pm Chris from DC:

Can't listen to it loud enough since I'm at work, but thanks for that.

Optimal conditions, Pi. Endorsed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Michael 98145:

  5:02pm Dean:

I'll bite, @?. No, I don't think Branca is boring, but there's a reason they call it "drone." Also, sometimes music (or anything) that isn't immediately captivating turns out to be quite rich over time. Alternatively. sometimes arguably objectively boring music--I'm thinking of much of Telemann--turns out to be just the right kind of boring. I'm a huge fan of Telemann, precisely because some of his vast ouevre barely manages to keep my attention without demanding too much of it.
  5:05pm Comstock:

love the sound of a poorly tuned radio in the next room
Avatar 5:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This whole bloody set, man...
Avatar 5:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

[meaning yay]
Avatar 5:08pm dale:

hello fabio and fabious people.
Avatar 5:09pm northguineahills:

ich schnitzengruben!
Avatar 5:11pm northguineahills:

wouldn't it be 'nom de musique'?
  5:14pm Comstock:

i suppose it depends if the artist is creating music by composing or by performing
  5:14pm ike:

Mmmmmmmmm, falafel!
  5:15pm Dean:

First saw 2001 c.'68, then again in '78, when it was screened at LA's Cineramadome on Sunset Blvd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Davis:

saw it in 70mm at bradford years ago- maybe it was in 2001, amazing
Avatar 5:17pm dale:

i liked the hateful 8. didn't like that they destroyed one of the oldest martin guitars in existence just to get a reaction out of the actors (SUPPOSEDLY)
  5:18pm Comstock:

any plans for a national release of Clay’s movie? I rented it on Amazon this week and it was fantastic
Avatar 5:19pm dale:

lived in brooklyn and manhattan from 85-'05. can't imagine being able to afford it today.
Avatar 5:22pm dale:

my cat is freaked out by this song - as soon as the cellos started he got all bug eyed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Fox:

I'm currently in a state of desperation trying to find a way to live in NYC paying no more than $450 a month. It's pretty impossible.
Avatar 5:24pm northguineahills:

@Comstock: My definitions of composition and performance are rather elastic and bleed into each other.
Avatar 5:25pm northguineahills:

@Fox: Last year, my shitty 440 Sq Ft railroad apt went up to $2500/mo. in Bushwick. It's why I'm in FL and my wife is in Crown Heights. (trying to pivot us out of NYC)
Avatar 5:26pm dale:

fox - you should have married tat old ballerina/actress who paid $28 a month in soho - you'd be grandfathered in.
Avatar 5:27pm northguineahills:

@dale: damnit, missed my chance!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Michael 98145:

gotta wonder who is making that kind of dough. here on the left coast rents have gone stratospheric .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Fox:

Yeah, I'm willing to look into all sorts of outside the box options. Being an adult with an adult amount of belongings and two cats is making this really difficult.
Avatar 5:29pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

on the gentrification/rental-market scale, DC seems to be an even 10 years behind Brooklyn. I've been using it as an accurate gauge on what's coming here. Williamsburg = Columbia Heights, etc. It's not a perfect match, but it's generally close...
Avatar 5:29pm dale:

440 sq feet? that was spacious!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Michael 98145:

- great show - today, Fabio
Avatar 5:31pm dale:

this is good stuff....
Avatar 5:31pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The crucial difference is population diversity: NYC/Bkln still has it over DC. We don't have the same density, so all the diversity is being more fully flushed out. It's all clones of the same five white affluent 32 year-olds. And they're starting to breed.
  5:32pm nic:

great love this !!!
Avatar 5:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Also: what they said. Fantastic stuff here. Best radio on earth. And elsewhere.
Avatar 5:34pm northguineahills:

@dale: Try freelancing from home w/ your wife at the same time w/o killing each other in a smaller space (we still nearly did).
Avatar 5:35pm northguineahills:

My parent's saw my house, and remarked how small it is (it is by FL standards), but it's WWII vintage and at 750 sq feet, it seems gigantic for just myself to live in (my brothers live in mcmansions).
Avatar 5:35pm Cheri Pi:

What he bested. Best radio evvahh
Avatar 5:36pm northguineahills:

M.A.L., new to me and digdug (reminds me of Roy Montgomery)
Avatar 5:36pm dale:

for a year we worked a few blocks apart and took the f train in together and home together. it was all i could do to lie about my lunch schedule so i didn't have to have lunch with her everyday too. i feel like a schmuck for saying that but i had to have alone time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm common:

made it...whew. hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Michael 98145:

my me time is within my headphones
Avatar 5:40pm dale:

i've done some painting for a few people with mcmansions - ZERO soul in those homes, the trim and moulding is cheap tiny clamshell crap ,vaulted ceilings and the sound echoes, the furniture is usually too small for the space, just a shitty deluded self perception of 'having arrived'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Carmichael:

Do NOT say the title of this song 3 times in a row.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Michael 98145:

"All I want is to enter my house justified." - Ride the High Country
Avatar 5:43pm dale:

telepathe telepathe telepathe?
  5:43pm ?:

Dean .. wouldnt have thought of telemann
.. even if telemann is formula composing
its relaxing at worst ... branca is loud and montonous ..maybe that is hypnotic to some folks ... but i listened to all the punk stuff live in nyc ..loved all of it nearly .. i could not understand the appeal of branca .. but there is a following i guess there is a niche for everyone .. no matter how awful it is .. i mean yoko was a contentious subject ..even the greatful dead had dark star .. fabio's shows are always the best no matter what .. and every one should express what they are .. no matter what .. even trump // thanks for responding
Avatar 5:44pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@dale: for far too long, I worked for a publishing company that did business magazines for the corporate-class boneheads behind McMansion developers. Talk about working for satan...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Fox:

northguineahills: yeah, my bf works from home four days a week and has Tourette's, and I'm always home on Disability and have chronic migraines. After a few years living together and driving each other crazy, we are now breaking up, he's moving out, and I've got to figure out what to do.
Avatar 5:45pm dale:

i designed brochures for falcon corporate jets. i designed an issue of alf magazine too. alf was more fulfilling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm joe mulligan:

@Rev. - I've been doing a couple DC trips over the last 2 weeks and noticed how spot-on you are about the gentrification time-lag compared to BK. I think the homogeneity is industry-related guessing b/c of political opportunities.
Avatar 5:47pm dale:

fox - sorry it has to come to a parting to remain sane. if only you could get a little buffer zone..
Avatar 5:48pm northguineahills:

Shit, fox, I'm sorry, that sucks. My wife and I nearly broke up after we were both laid off our permanent jobs and she got diagnosed w/ cancer and we had to pay out of pocket (it happened a few weeks after she was laid off). She's fine now, and the stress of being underemployed and broke made me look for new horizons. It took a while, but we've mended our relationship.
Avatar 5:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Alf would indeed be more fulfilling. Compared with endless cover-photo-shoots featuring middle-aged white guys in suits (MAWGs)..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Michael 98145:

MAWG swimsuit editions would be even worse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Michael 98145:

oink ❋
  5:51pm tony:

don't you just want to round up all the white guys and kill them? wouldn't the world be a better place if this happened?
  5:51pm V Priceless:

as in the fuzz!
  5:52pm Comstock:

Would prefer Pidge talk
Avatar 5:52pm TDK60:

I failed to arrive in time for the Branca tribute. Thus, will listen in The Future. Hey Fabio.
Avatar 5:52pm dale:

friend of mine worked at a design shop that did masectomy brassiere catalogs while i worked doing colgate palmolive annual reports. he was so jealous - but he made more money!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Michael 98145:

thanks again, Fabio

liking these M.A.L.
  5:55pm .:

i feel magenta right now.
  5:57pm SeanG:

Avatar 5:59pm northguineahills:

Thanks Fabio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Fox:
