"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am steveo:

that's a good idea to listen in LA so you get the traditional 6-9 timeslot
Avatar 9:51am Rich from Bay Ridge:

The more I listen to WFMU the more I realize that I know next to nothing about music. Thanks JA.
Avatar 9:52am Howard F:

@steveo: my main objective for coming here!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am sphere:

@ Rich - The best part is you'll always feel like that. To me, music is an infinite sea and there's always something else around the corner!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Ken From Hyde Park:

@ngh - I saw an article about a proposal for salmon farming in Florida. Does that sound like a good idea? www.usatoday.com... What could possibly go wring?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am Rob (Jerzcity):

@sphere - well said. I looked up your Thousand Incarnations of the Rose fest and discovered John Fahey through that. so thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am sphere:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am Rob (Jerzcity):

and I guess john Fahey is just a drop in that infinte sea, but good to learn new things (such as the American primitive guitar genre)
Avatar 10:00am northguineahills:

cool, Rob, I love all things Fahey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am Krys O.:

Yes, Ken Nordine is alive, whether he's speaking and/or kicking is not confirmed.

Hello and Merry Day of Freya to all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am sphere:

There's a lot of good stuff in several venues at that Thousand Incarnations fest tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am sphere:

And tonight the festival's club venues are open to the public:

  10:29am Ben Abs:

Man, that Kevin smith story is intense. Great track as well
Avatar 10:33am D. Lightfoot:

Ken Nordine is my spirit animal
Avatar 10:35am northguineahills:

@Ken: Sounds like a horrible idea, at least from our aquifer point of view.
Avatar 10:36am northguineahills:

and then there is the waste water question.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am Ken From Hyde Park:

@ngh - Yeah, that plan doesn't even look good on paper. Pumping salt water back down? Don't salmon need cold water?
Avatar 10:40am northguineahills:

(Yeah, I mentioned to my coworkers, who are scientists who study chemical contaminants in fish, and they were like, yeah, they'll die w/o refrigeration or A/C).
Avatar 10:43am Chris from DC:

Ooh this is nice.
Avatar 10:44am northguineahills:

I think they planned to pump salt water up (below the fresh water aquifer is the salt water aquifer). That one isn't being depleted, in fact, it's rising due to sea levels rising. it's taking from the fresh water aquifer I have a problem w/. It's taxed enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am steveo:

so good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am steveo:

(this set, not the fish farm)
Avatar 10:53am northguineahills:

Yeah, but the wastewater is planned to be pumped is below the impervious layer 3000', which is below the saltwater aquifer which is cavernous. Orlando does such w/ its biosolids (read: dried sewage), and another city does as well, but it's dangerous to do so south of there as said areas are porous to the ocean
Avatar 10:55am D. Lightfoot:

I once dated this pro boxer. Total badass, she was. Fearless, balletic, devastating. She didn't drink but needed her NyQuil of an evening. One night we bought a bottle and took it to the bar, ordered a couple rounds of Jager bombs on ice and spiked them with the Quil. Tasted horrible but really took the edge off. Some things you only do once. There is nothing after this life—this is all there is, whatever you're doing now and whatever you seem to recall.
  10:56am j:

Double Fahey!
  10:57am j:

just here, will listen to the earlier, later!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am Doobois:

Heavy, Mr. Lightfoot, very heavy indeed.
Avatar 11:02am D. Lightfoot:

I was just trying to change the subject from wastewater management
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am steveo:

just died and went to guitar heaven
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am BronwynB:

i once managed this wastewater. total badass, it was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am Rob (Jerzcity):

damn these conference calls keeping me away from valuable listenin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am steveo:

john is here too, and he's smiling
Avatar 11:08am D. Lightfoot:

The state turned down our grand to CDBG funds to upgrade our town water and sewer system. It's a sore topic.
Avatar 11:09am D. Lightfoot:

Said our system wasn't old and wore out enough
Avatar 11:09am Andy in Berlin:

boy somebody's on a big Fahey kick!
Avatar 11:09am JakeGould:

When society collapses, ice cream will be the first thing to go
  11:37am j:

Avatar 11:38am D. Lightfoot:

Then soon after, frozen pizza
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Booz:

Like a fresh taco in a sea of wastewater.

Avatar 11:39am D. Lightfoot:
