Given that the song dates to 1982 I suppose that was for the "Energy Exposition" World's Fair in Knoxville, WORST theme ever conceived for such an event- people stayed away in droves. Maybe if they had piped that waltz into the streets, the outcome would've been more positive.

Thanks for the Charity Brown, Canadian content. Wonder what happened to her.

Hard to believe that Maria McKee and Bryan MacLean are half brother/sister though born eighteen years apart.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am annie:

tracy ullman..... i knew that voice...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Scraps deSelby:

Aww, Tracy Ullman!
  11:24am John in Bklyn:

Wow, I forgot about Lone Justice. They came along at the tail end of the cowpony era. And Tracy Ullman! That video with Paul McCartney!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Ken From Hyde Park:

Tracey Ullman rules!
  11:25am John in Bklyn:

oops! I meant "cowpunk" era!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Itzall Ablurr:

"Making it work... oh-Oh, Dominoe"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am ChrisB.:

Anyone see the new Tracey Ullman episodes on HBO? Consistently hilarious.
Avatar 11:26am KP:

First time we went to London, the bus from the airport dropped us off in Sheppard's Bush
  11:26am Mark in Toronto:

MORE CanCon! Go Doug! and Slugs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Scraps:

On Stiff!

Good God, Doug and the Slugs!
  11:26am davefromtoronto:

i cannot believe you're playing doug and the slugs!
  11:26am melinda:

Those Tracey Ullman videos were fun.
Avatar 11:27am Brian in UK:

Think Tracy is special as Jeremy Corbyn. Scroll down

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am Ken From Hyde Park:

Avatar 11:29am Marc Francis:

Nope. See ya next week.
  11:30am John in Bklyn:

@Ken So much good stuff on Night Flight back in the day.
I remember seeing Ann Magnuson's Made for TV.
  11:32am Tim 07030:

I am thankful you played this twice instead of segueing it into that godawful Blues Traveler Runaround song, Joe!!
  11:32am Mark in Toronto:

You got any Stompin' Tom Connors?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Goyim in the AM:

Boy oh boy, the video for Making it Work is -- well, it's quite something.
Avatar 11:35am Joe McG:

@Goyim: There's a VIDEO? I know what I'm doing after the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Ricky:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Scraps:

Sweet’s “Tonight” (not the Lene Lovich one) was such an awesome power pop song; I played that 45 to death.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am ChrisB.:

Saw Todd Friday night for the first time in over 30 years. He is still fantastic, and what a voice. Kasim was there too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Goyim in the AM:

Oh, there's a video, all right.
Avatar 11:37am Brian in UK:

@Mark in Toronto Bud the Spud?
  11:38am John in Bklyn:

@Goyim Holy cow. Cringe-inducing. I can't un-see it now. What was Doug about 58 when they made that? I don't remember that from the MTV days.
Avatar 11:40am Brian in UK:

Those Searchers albums around this time were spot on. Unlike most groups trying to hit the twelve string sound, they invented it. Sorry Jim/Roger.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Itzall Ablurr:

This "Searchers" song is perfect pop for "now people".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Goyim in the AM:

Doug was a hard liver who lived too hard for his liver, unfortunately -- he wasn't that old when the video was made and died young, sadly.
  11:41am Brendan:

Searchers reminds me of Rockpile
Avatar 11:42am Joe McG:

@Goyim: Doug is dead? :( I hoped he had a bar somewhere in Toronto or something.
  11:42am Mark in Toronto:

@Brian - that's right. Also good is The Hockey Song, and Sudbury Saturday Night, and Tillsonburg.
  11:43am Stashu:

Thank you!
  11:43am Mark in Toronto:

Wasn't Love's Melody originally a Motors song?
Avatar 11:44am Joe McG:

STASHU! @Mark: Yes, it was!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Goyim in the AM:

A Doug-less Doug and the Slugs still tours around Canada.
Avatar 11:46am Brian in UK:

The Searchers bridged the gap twixt Sixties and Seventies British (mainly English) pop. That CD looks like a nice little Christmas present.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am NotARealDoctor:

Sometimes watching these message boards I kind of feel like I don't know much at all about music, but I know what I like, and right now Joe McG is playing it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am steveo:

now there's an album title!
Avatar 11:47am Sem Chumbo:

Sudbury Saturday Night: verse one (Sudbury is a nickle mining town, where Apollo astronauts trained 'cause it looked so much like the Moon.)

The girls are out to Bingo and the boys are gettin' stinko,
And we think no more of Inco on a Sudbury Saturday night.
The glasses they will tinkle when our eyes begin to twinkle,
And we'll think no more of Inco on a Sudbury Saturday night.
Avatar 11:48am Brian in UK:

Sem nicked that Tom Connors info from you.
Avatar 11:49am Brian in UK:

The Searchers cover Almost Saturday Night.
  11:49am Mark in Toronto:

They are classic lyrics that deserve to be shared and remembered.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Itzall Ablurr:

Good Lord. OCS... another spend coming up thanks to this show. You are pushing some pure drugs at us this morning, Mr. McG.
Avatar 11:50am Brian in UK:

  11:51am sugarplumfairywolf:

I watched the Makin' It Work video, uhhhhhh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Scraps:

Actually, “Love’s Melody” was an Andrew McMaster song, but it was played by Ducks Deluxe before the Motors
Avatar 11:52am Brian in UK:

I second that emotion. Timeless.

Chris Hillman played Folk Rock first. Discuss.
  11:54am Brendan:

Did he just play Bach’s Jesu as the gutar solo?
Avatar 11:55am Joe McG:
