Avatar 3:09pm Chris from DC:

Do you have the Stinkus version of "Wichita Lineman"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm JP from KC:

Is this going to be an all "Wichita Lineman" show? if it is, I might plotz.
  3:12pm JakeGould:

Hey all!
Avatar 3:13pm Cecile:

Do you have the Dennis Brown version? He did it when he was about 16...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Scott Williams:

Hello Friends! Not gonna be all Wichita. but gonna be a lotta Wichita (just ones I really love)
  3:14pm middlebun:

Sounds like Jim Nabors
Swag For Life Member 3:14pm donpappy:

more Wichita, please.
Avatar 3:14pm drewo:

"It don't look like rain... but if it snows down south..."??? Huh, wait. If there's no rain where's this snow coming from? And down south too??? Maybe take that vacation lineman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm JP from KC:

I'm down! I recently heard the Villagers' version from their 2016 album. Not bad!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Greg from ZONE 5:

This is probably my favorite version: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 3:15pm βrian:

@middlebun: I hear that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Scott Williams:

@middlebun, ha! you're right. @cecile, patience please - I think that's my fave version
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm JP from KC:

@Greg: I second that!
Avatar 3:16pm Chris from DC:

That Meters was nice.
Avatar 3:17pm Cecile:

oh, awesome, Scott.
I also think it's amazing he sings that song and he probably never saw snow at that point in his life..
Avatar 3:17pm Cecile:

Did anyone play anything from the Anne Murray/Glen Campbell album, it was pretty great.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Scott and linemen / women. Came into town and there's wifi here at Pizza Ranch. Really enjoying the selections.
  3:20pm MONEYBAG$:

I'm partial to the Urge Overkill version
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Uncle Michael:

I'm loathe to cloud the punchbowl, but there is one, well-known version of W.L. that gets on my wick. I won't call it out even if Scott plays it.
Avatar 3:22pm Cecile:

You have Pizza Ranches in New Jersey?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm rsj:

all this makes me wonder who the witchita lineman really is
Avatar 3:22pm PKNY:

Kook & the Gang did a nice version of WL on the "Live at the Sex Machine" LP.
  3:22pm JakeGould:

Ken lives in Hyde Park where he has access to Pizza Ranches.
Avatar 🎸 3:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ode to a Kansas laundry-hanger, much beloved in song...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Going to check out the thrift store later to see if there are some polka records for Stashu. This is in SE N.D., Cecile; visiting my mom this week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Oh, hell yes.
Avatar 3:24pm Cecile:

Ha! I knew it. It's more of a Midwestern thing.
Avatar 3:24pm D. Lightfoot:

Muzak-esque version reminds me of walking around Kmart to buy Matchbox cars and frozen Cokes as a kid.
  3:24pm choggie:

Now do a punk version!
Avatar 3:25pm Cecile:

My friend who worked as an installer for Century Link, started singing "I am a splicer for the ci-tyyyyy"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm AndyIowa:

Hey, hey Scott and fellow 'FMUers!

I don't think I've ever commented on your show's playlist, so remedying that... just started a new job in the city today, glad to have your show as part of the day. See ya for another volunteer shift soon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Tommy in Neversink:

Oh man ....it was the ultimate thrill everything I added a matchbox car to my collection..I got the matchbox city for X-mass so I had a place to drive them
Avatar 3:26pm Cecile:

My dad was a lineman for the Marines. Not only does it not scan, but the work gave him miserable varicose veins.
Avatar 3:27pm Jeff:

Hey, what happened? Did Jimmy Webb die?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Tommy in Neversink:

Love this Scott
  3:27pm JakeGould:

For anyone who cares, the Housing Works thrift store on 5th Avenue and Garfield Place in Park Slope (Brooklyn) has a few dozen dead stock 1970s Glen Campbell posters up for sale for $10'a pop. Also 5th Dimension and David Cassidy posters too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Scott Williams:

Oh, Jeff...
  3:30pm Maria D:

This is everything I could have hoped for this week. Thank you, Scott!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Uncle Michael:

I'm ready, Jeff. www.wfmu.org...
  3:31pm JakeGould:

What Maria D said.
  3:32pm Cooh John:

Keep it coming, Scott. Not tired of singing this one out loud.

this whole set's gonna make me cry at work if you're not careful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Whosondephone:

Avatar 3:37pm steve:

this song makes me long for a quiet, lonesome place in the rural midwest that i've never been to.
Avatar 3:37pm Cecile:

Avatar 3:37pm Will from Seattle:

oh man almost forgot about Dennis Brown's version
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm JP from KC:

I'm also a bit partial to the Johnny Cash version. Nobody does that weary, blue collar, everyman kind of sound quite like he does.
Avatar 3:38pm Cecile:

It's like a York Peppermint Patty singing. Smooth and cool.
Avatar 3:39pm Chris from DC:

This is cool.
  3:40pm Mrs McGreivey:

I never knew there were dio many Wichita linemen.
Avatar 3:40pm D. Lightfoot:

Dio did it too?
  3:41pm Mike:

Johnny Cash did an absolutely heartwrenching version of this song.
  3:41pm MONEYBAG$:

It was the b-side of Rainbow in the Dark
Avatar 3:42pm Cecile:

Wichita Lineman of Evil.
Avatar 3:42pm Will from Seattle:

REM covered it too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm JP from KC:

AHAHAHHAHAH, awesome JP from KC.
Avatar 🎸 3:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

In honor of RTD BIRTHDAY over the weekend, caught a midnight screening of th'Favorite Movie Ever (jodorowsky's Santa Sangre), so now I've got Perez Prado's mambo sounds in my head. If you decide to head in that direction some day...
  3:51pm McGreivey:

I figured you'd do 2:59:00 of linemanziz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Scott Williams:

REV! Happy b'day to you, sir!
Avatar 3:54pm steve:

hbd Rev!!
Avatar 3:55pm Chris from DC:

What they said.
Avatar 🎸 3:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 4:11pm Cecile:

Is one of the guys from Steeleye Span singing this song? I mean before he went to Steeleye Span?
Avatar 4:11pm Cecile:

Happy Anniversary of Your Natal Day, Rev.
Avatar 4:13pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

i know what you mean, Cecile, but it's Dave Swarbrick singing here (never in Steeleye Span). Ashley Hutchings was in the original Fairport and went on to found Steeleye.
Avatar 🎸 4:14pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

yeh, Cecile I was thinking Tim Hart maybe (from steeleye); I was reminded of the Hart & Maddy Prior material for a second..
Avatar 🎸 4:14pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 🎸 4:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

whoops, strike that. it was sunday. I blame the beersies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Carmichael:

Totally understandable. A microbrewery was by chance next door to my hotel, so it was indeed a lost weekend.
  4:40pm J Dream:

Avatar 🎸 4:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

GAH, nice. Haven't played my Tapper yet. Spoiler alert. Very yay.
Avatar 5:07pm Cecile:

I'm on the fence about this Childish album. I just think he sings too hard on this.
  5:07pm J Dream:

So, this is Childish Gambino
  5:08pm ike:

Kubikov = sparkly cave music on very nice planet <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Scott Williams:

FINALLY listened to the Childish Gambino today - I love it, total heirs to Funkadelic
Avatar 5:12pm Cecile:

I should listen to it more than the couple of times I did. It sounded kind of derivative, and I wasn't wild about his singing a lot of the time. Maybe some time (and a good opinion from someone with great taste) will change my mind.
  5:14pm ike:

Those "your mama" jokes you like are coming back into style.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Rory:

This kush I'm smoking is going for nicely with this wonderful synth stuff. Great show Scott!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:16pm chris:

Jeff, your mama is so ugly she could make an onion cry.

From "Ya Mama" by the Pharcyde

Your mama is so big and fat that she can get busy
With twenty-two burritos, but times are rough

Avatar 5:27pm TDK60:

Paul Roessler?! Wow, forgot about him. Saw him open for Black Flag, circa '86.
Avatar 5:27pm Cecile:

Is this Kira singing?
Avatar 🎸 5:28pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I didn't witness much YO MAMA jokes in youth ('70s) -- Seemed like folks would just toss "YER MOM" back & forth, as if it was the most offensive thing possible. It was damned funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Scott Williams:

@Cecile, it's Michelle Bell
Avatar 5:29pm Cecile:

Avatar 🎸 5:31pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I was once informed by a recess tough-guy "YER MAMA WEARS COMBAT BOOTS" -- which I agreed with, since she had served in the Army. Nothing shatters the brains of a bully quite like agreeing with him. Psychological warfare wins the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Rory:

Couldn't agree more with that @Rev.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Rory:

I used to have so much fun messing with the bullies heads.

Avatar 🎸 5:41pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@chris: oh there was plenty of attempted murder... but once in a while, bizarre crafty weirdness won the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Rory:

I was terrible as a kid I always had fun fucking with people. My parents and siblings suffered the worst. My doctor just said it was a part of my Asperger's.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:49pm chris:

  5:52pm Konfuzed:

This don't sound like Richie Sambora
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:52pm chris:

i liked messing with adults, too. there was one coworker of my dad who was the big cop in the park where my dad worked. he had lost an eye on the job, so always wore a patch. he messed with me at a party one time, and i asked him if he spelled his last name with one 'i' or two. there was a deadly silence that came over the crowd until he laughed and declared me the winner. i guess that may count as crafty weirdness...
