@Sem Found it on the ipod. Actually the ipod picked 3 of the 4 songs I played so far.

I did the rest on my own! Really!!!

I think this is Miles from his 'Alien Spider' period.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Parq:

Narrow escape here at Casa Parq -- the moment we've been dreading, the kid got trapped on a dead subway train. (For those of you not in the NYC area, that has been happening a *lot* this summer.) Fortunately, they were able to evacuate the train relatively quickly and without injury.
Avatar 4:46pm Bill Mac:

How much playng is he doing on this? Another cut has him noodling on the keyboard
Avatar 4:46pm Bill Mac:

@Parq-That only has to happen to you once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Stanley:

@Parq: sounds heavy but glad it was okay.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Parq:

Bill @ 4:46 - unfortunately, I'm the only one in the family in whose life subway travel isn't a constant presence. I fear this will happen to one or both of my girls again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm doctorjazz:

I saw Miles late in his career, he spent more time noodling at the keyboard than blowing his horn.
  5:13pm melinda:

The poor maintenance of infrastructure in the U.S. is shameful.
Avatar 5:14pm Bill Mac:

What a drag. I've been out city life for over 35 years now and I more often than not blank out the bad stuff. Never liked subway travel.

Avatar 5:17pm geezerette:

  5:17pm melinda:

The subway song featured in David D's show intro comes from a charming vintage Sesame Street number featuring a muppet version of 70s era NY subway travel.
Avatar 5:18pm Bill Mac:

@DJ - wow, must have been during this period.
Avatar 5:18pm KP:

Eep eep
Avatar 5:18pm Bill Mac:

@Melinda - the way subway travel should be
  5:21pm pacific standard simon:

I live on an island in Puget Sound, and haven't been to Seattle for so long I can't remember how long. Very peaceful, except when the tourists invade.
  5:25pm Dean:

Don't eat the salmon, @pss: http://myscienceacademy.org/2017/07/16/seattle-caught-salmon-found-contain-cocaine-antidepressants-pain-relievers/
  5:26pm pacific standard simon:

Did Fiery Furnaces feature Chrissy Hynde on vocals? That sounded eerily familiar.
Avatar 5:27pm Bill Mac:

Jeez if the trains don't get you the fish will!
  5:28pm pacific standard simon:

@Dean That's a bad thing?

  5:33pm the missus:

Electric Warrior
Avatar 5:34pm KP:

I was just talking of the album in which he plays with band and canned applause, screams were dubbed over. It actaully sounds awesome.
Avatar 5:35pm KP:

That's Bolan ^
Avatar 5:36pm geezerette:

Doing the Tarantino.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Parq:

The kid made it here, by the way, and she dug the Baby Driver track. Where to begin to tell a 26 year old about T-Rex?
  5:37pm melinda:

I deal with tourists at work all the time during summer, most are pleasant, and it's always interesting to observe people from other parts of the country/world.
  5:37pm pacific standard simon:

I've never heard any T Rex that I hated. Much that I loved. Especially Electric Warrior.
  5:38pm melinda:

If they swarmed the entire city that might be a different matter.
Avatar 5:40pm KP:

Saw Eleanor Friedberger of FF come out as guest at a concert by an FMU sort of associated act and she just stole whole thing with a Patti Smith mini set
Avatar 5:42pm Bill Mac:

Yikes that's right! Eleanor Friedberger. What I've heard of FF is top notch
  5:46pm pacific standard simon:

My island gets a different breed of tourist, the cruise ship and and shuttle and ferry types. Enormous, cane-leaning, and garbage strewing. Only in the height of summer, fortunately.
Avatar 5:47pm Bill Mac:

Happens all over. It's why we don't hit the east coast beaches til after the season is over.
  5:48pm melinda:

I don't know a lot of T Rex but like what I've heard. Ride a White Swan is extra good.
Avatar 5:49pm Bill Mac:

It's pretty consistent
Avatar 5:51pm Sem Chumbo:

Really dig the Lillies, nice spin, Bill. Thanks.
Avatar 5:52pm Bill Mac:

We went through a Lillies jag about 10 years back. Fun band
  5:53pm pacific standard simon:

Dig the 'lillies the most!
Avatar 5:53pm geezerette:

Have you guys seen the strange little movie Marc Bolan and Ringo made together? It's one of those awful but fun to watch films. Sort of a directionless, long music video .
  5:55pm Dean:

Attended a party on Sunday where an Italian native, now settled here in the Bay Area, mentioned this issue regarding cruise ships: https://www.forbes.com/sites/ceciliarodriguez/2016/09/29/venice-is-fed-up-with-cruise-ships-and-angry-protesters-are-blocking-them/#4dab6693f610
Avatar 5:55pm Bill Mac:

Need to check the interwebs for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Stanley:

This Abba cover is quite creepy
Avatar 5:58pm Bill Mac:

An then there's Yoko....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Stanley:

Oh no Yoko
(leaves room etc)
  6:01pm pacific standard simon:

Zzzzzzero Hour is like one of those pizza parlors that feature arcade games. But in a GOOD way.
Avatar 6:01pm geezerette:

Cruise ships are purgatory. Wherever they go they're parked one after another for miles. It's like every 15 minutes an entire city invades your town, buys the same things, asks the same questions, behaves the same way, and leaves. Locals resent it but economies depend on it.
Avatar 6:02pm Bill Mac:

Me like-um arcade games -n- pizza!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm Stanley:

Good, it's safe to come back in.
Avatar 6:03pm glenn:

personally, i think cruise ships are beyond ridiculous, not to mention pointless as fuck.
  6:03pm pacific standard simon:

Notice that Yoko mentioned opening most but not all holes...
Avatar 6:03pm Bill Mac:

There were some bugs and small animals within 90 yards of the studio that I needed to immobilize
Avatar 6:06pm geezerette:

It's...so... HOT here...ugh.
  6:07pm melinda:

Bill you are wise to avoid cruises. Regarding their impact on local economies, the ones that come here bring some $ but not as much as people think. They often take buses to neighboring towns with shopping malls and outlets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Stanley:

My pal plays bass in a band on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. He says the buffets are piled high with fancy foods, far to much for the passengers to eat so tons of it gets thrown overboard every day.
  6:08pm melinda:

Then there's the diarrhea outbreaks.
Avatar 6:09pm geezerette:

  6:11pm pacific standard simon:

There's an awesome cover of "Knowing Me, Knowing You", by a down-under band named, I think, Laundrette. Far moodier than the original.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm Stanley:

Time for me to make a slow and dignified exit. Got an arse of a day, tomorrow, so better get to bed. Thanks for the tunes, Bill.
'Night all.
Avatar 6:14pm Sem Chumbo:

See ya later, Stanley!
  6:15pm melinda:

Ta, Stanley!
Avatar 6:15pm Sem Chumbo:

So good and out there. God Bless TW.
Avatar 6:16pm Bill Mac:

You picked a good time to go! See ya soon!
  6:16pm pacific standard simon:

The only cruise I would go on would be the one to Antarctica. Because, you know, FUCKING ANTARCTICA.
Avatar 6:18pm KP:

Still here? What is this, overtime?
Avatar 6:18pm Bill Mac:

Hey nowadays you don't come to Antarctica, Antarctica comes to you
Avatar 6:18pm Bill Mac:

3 hours man! I started at 4
Avatar 6:20pm KP:

Go for four!
Avatar 6:20pm KP:

Anyway, great to hear you in these troubled times, Bill
  6:20pm Dean:

I can't wrap my head around what appears to be very successful annual progressive rock cruise, Cruise to the Edge, sponsored by Yes. I loved attending Yes concerts in the '70s, even one (1976) in Las Vegas (last time I've ever been there). But a cruise?!
Avatar 6:22pm V Priceless:

OMG is there no greater band name than Ass Baboons of Venus??
Avatar 6:23pm Sem Chumbo:

Now there's a band I'd go on a cruise with.
Avatar 6:23pm V Priceless:

@ Dean - been on a few - total blast!
Avatar 6:23pm Bill Mac:

VP They make me larf!
Avatar 6:24pm Bill Mac:

Thanks KP glad to see you're still in the mix
  6:24pm Dean:

Fat & Fucked Up was a pretty good band name, too.

@VP, Yeah, my prog-loving buddies whom I accompanied to those old Yes shows maintain it's an enjoyable part of a week. I couldn't do it. For instance, I bet there's no library on the ship. I gotta have a library.
  6:25pm pacific standard simon:

If you ever did a regular show again, Bill, this would be a good day and time for me.
Avatar 6:26pm Bill Mac:

@Dean Is that a thing?! Hah!!!
Avatar 6:27pm V Priceless:

@ Dean - scheduling can be a bit hectic - running from one end of the ship to the other to catch different acts, but nothing beats standing on the breakfast buffet line with the likes of Eddie Jobson, etc. Surreal is an understatement.
Avatar 6:28pm KP:

There's two Yes groups out there now. Both are legit, apparently
  6:28pm Dean:

The Cruise? Or F&FU? Either way, yes...a thing!

@VP, Maybe it doesn't beat standing on the buffet line with Jobson, but I had a beer with Peter Brotzmann at a Vision Festival, and stood next to William Parker at adjacent urinals at the same festival!
  6:32pm Dean:

Pablo Cruise should have a cruise.
  6:33pm pacific standard simon:

Eddie Jobson could make a huge retirement out of doing cruises and reunions with all the bands he's played in.
Avatar 6:35pm Sem Chumbo:

Yeah, could be worse, cruising with Kid Rock, with incipient explosive diarrhea just one skanky shrimp hors d'oeuvre away.
Avatar 6:35pm V Priceless:

there's a Moody Blues cruise coming up in January - w/Strawbs, Caravan, Zombies, Lighthouse, Ides of March, Ambrosia, etc.
  6:36pm Dean:

Senator. Dwayne "The Rock' Johnson is toying with prexy.
Avatar 6:37pm geezerette:

Tom Cruise probably pilots Sea Org cruise ships.
Didn't David Foster Wallace include a piece on cruise ships in "Ten Supposedly Fun Things I Will Never Do Again"?
Avatar 6:38pm Bill Mac:

@VP - Wow, I'd actually like to see several of those bands. Lighthouse huh?
Avatar 6:38pm Bill Mac:

@VP - Wow, I'd actually like to see several of those bands. Lighthouse huh?
Avatar 6:38pm Sem Chumbo:

That kettle drum thing kills me.
Avatar 6:39pm V Priceless:

@ Bill - yeah, it's a neat, kinda off-beat line-up
Avatar 6:39pm geezerette:

Bill, love your shows. Thank you!
Avatar 6:39pm Sem Chumbo:

@geezerette: one of the truly readable and re-readable of his magazine work.
Avatar 6:40pm V Priceless:

Avatar 6:40pm Bill Mac:

Avatar 6:40pm Bill Mac:

@VP Twas in the pocket
Avatar 6:41pm Sem Chumbo:

Met Skip Prokop years after Lighthouse, in a tavern where he was managing a young phenom singer. The singer, alas, was not so phenom as all that.
Avatar 6:43pm Sem Chumbo:

Thanks to CanCon, one heard this a very great deal in the great white north on the AM radio.
  6:43pm Dean:

A ton of airplay in SoCal, too.

  6:47pm pacific standard simon:

  6:49pm Dean:

Avatar 6:49pm Brian in UK:

Avatar 6:50pm Bill Mac:

@BiUK Aaaagh! Frenchman!
  6:51pm Dean:

Special guest, Brandon Cruz. Seems like Sailor should be invited to play, too.
  6:51pm pacific standard simon:

I actually find Yoko Ono much more listenable than Lighthouse. Seriously, a thirteen member band?
Avatar 6:51pm Sem Chumbo:

Got any runny stinky cheese on ya?

Avatar 10:09am Brian in UK:

My wife was also a big T Rex fan. Deborah is Tyranosaurus Rex before the abbreviation. I was in One Stop Records in London circa 1972 asking about a new record and this little fella in ballet pumps and loons carrying Chuck Berry and T Rex albums tells me info (incorrect as it turns out) about the record. Yes it was Bolan. My wife was not happy when I told her years later.
Apart from both of them both wanting to be stars so urgently, Bowie had the talent to keep it going.
Avatar 10:16am Brian in UK:

Cruises, schmoozes. These people have to do something cause if you take away Hip Hop and autotune there is nothing left.
