Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Uncle Michael:

I wonder if Nick Cave ever listened to a Leonard Cohen record.

Ah, thanks, Joysun and kevlicki! I was doubtful anyone up there was listening.
Avatar 10:08am Brian in UK:

Joe. Talking of jams, ever played The KLF?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am annie:

out of curiosity, is the fund-raiser ticker fo each DJ accurate? or is it a vestige yet to be removed?
Avatar 10:10am Joe McG:

@Brian: I don't think so! @annie: Vestige! I think they're coming down this week sometime. We have to call the computer dudes.

Avatar 10:20am βrian:

Nothing a little Frippery can't fix, though.

Ah, "North Star," a calm moment on Fripp's Exposure, which never settles down for long.
Avatar 10:20am Marc Francis:

@Joe McG: We were driving thru Rockland County a few weeks back and were super excited to pick up WFMU!!

Joe, now Laughing Boy from Abandonned Luncheonette is prime especially seen live around 1977.
Avatar 10:25am Joe McG:

@marc F: Great to hear! @Brian: I like that song!
Avatar 10:27am Brian in UK:

Hall & Oats are guilty of some dodgy sleeves, witness the silver album inserts. Embarrassing.
  10:30am JakeGould:

That was some great Fleetwood Mac right there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am Hughie Considine:

I think they might have changed the emphasis on "Hold Me" away from "like a good man should" so it would be more universal? But yeah, that version is damned good!
Avatar 10:31am quinn:

I grew up on the green shores of the Perkiomen Creek
Avatar 10:35am Joe McG:

That's so cool, quinn. Same one, I guess?
  10:36am JakeGould:

That intro drumming to "Topsy II" and the intro to The Fall's "Garden" share some DNA.

Avatar 10:49am dale:

thumbs up on the magna carta - seasons is one of my favorite rekkids.
Avatar 10:50am Joe McG:

@Jim: When they got tired of listening to Simon and Garfunkel, they'd have to put "Seasons" on!
  10:50am melinda:

@ronny: I think of kraftwerk as being very highly regarded, in spite of my relative ignorance. But who knows.

Interesting story about the Conway Twitty that I should have talked about on the air (from Wikipedia):
On July 17, 1975, "Hello Darlin'" was played and broadcast to a worldwide audience as part of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. Actually, it was a Russian language version of the song. Called "Privet Radost," the song — commissioned by the Apollo crew — was played by the American astronauts to Russian cosmonauts (of the Soyuz crew) as "a gesture of goodwill." Twitty worked with a language professor from the University of Oklahoma to record the phonetic Russian version of the song.
