Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Hildegard groupie here. In Sequentia's first(?!) traversal of the Ordo Virtutum the Devil gives a shout that always scares the poop out of me. I guess that's the point.

The Sandpipers remind me of a spoof band in Boston in the late 70s that called itself The Beatles Costello. In the liner notes to their one single "Washing the Defectives", it was noted that their manager hoped to make them bigger than the Sandpipers. It was also noted that the manager had not realized that one of the Sandpipers was 6'2''.

ndbob, the cover of him riding a BMW motorcycle looks so contemporary. Wonderful read.

Dean, I have visual migraines, scintillating scotomas (love the name, not the effect) and reading Sacks books had a quote from H of B in the begining much to my surprise.
Avatar 1:32pm ndbob:

@Brian yep - I had no knowledge about that part of his life until I read the autobio
Avatar 1:36pm Brian in UK:

Ofcourse most of these books CAME FROM THE LIBRARY.

Jeff, good luck. sell it to the parents first.
  1:38pm Dean:

That kids' book is just cool! I remember the explosion of books following Gothic Voices' Feather on the Breath of God and Sequentia's early recordings. The late lamented Bodhi Tree bookstore in LA used to have a bunch.

"Migraine and Aura"--At a glance, this looks like a really interesting article.

Trailer Park Records is a weird outfit. Could never find any info on them online, their own site, etc.. Only through distributors like Norton. I suspect it's due to the semi-legit nature of their compilations.
I bought a bunch from my (now shuttered) favorite record store for really cheap - the CDs appear hand-made, with paste on labels. I don't know if that's just how they started out, or if someone was actually bootlegging their releases. On CD didn't even have a CD in it. Pretty weird.
