Hey, would you ever consider doing a House Proud in Minneapolis? I have zero connections but I could get you the contact info...
  12:06pm Ari:

Hey, Duane! Been a while since I've been able to check in. But the kids are now--finally--back in school. Looking to groove with yer show! Kicking in with Minako Yoshida (clearly your fave Japanese groove/pop singer ;-) is a nice way to slink back in!
Avatar 12:09pm Duane:

HI Ari..she;s one of my faves, but Kimiko Kasai is up there too:) Hope the kids are excited to go back!!
Cecile: I would totally go to Minneapolis to do a House Proud..they have great guests!!

Avatar 12:21pm Duane:

Polyus: Yeah, she did alright for herself!
  12:26pm Polyus:

I remember reading in interview with her in Modern Drummer when she was just this skinny youngster from a famous family of Latin percussionists. A few years later, there she was MTV, all made over and hanging with Prince.
Avatar 12:31pm KP:

My friends' band was twice on Floyd. They talked to Peter Tork while waiting to go on.
Avatar 12:33pm kumar:

Avatar 12:40pm KP:

I was surprised to find my gift subscription to Yankee Magazine had no references to Chris Chambliss.
  12:51pm Ari:

I've always wondered who fills up all the rooms in those big Williamsburg hotels. Now I know!
  12:57pm Cecile:

  12:58pm ?:

Hey Duane - Nice show! fwiw Tabou combo originated in Haiti
Avatar 12:58pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Whoa, I think that makes WFMU kinda lame! You need to play the E-N-T-I-R-E Mahogany album Duane! Cover all the bases, just sayin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm JtotheK:

what about the Erik B and Rakim track 'Mahogany' ? (with the Al Green sample!)
  1:01pm Cecile:

WFMU is standing still in time...
Avatar 1:01pm Duane:

JtotheK: That has been played..but "Theme from Mahogany" ..nope!
Avatar 1:04pm Duane:

Jennique: Id love to play that album..it's a great one..and "love hangover" is on it too!
  1:05pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Passaic River Blues:

This Deep Space Orchestra track is perfection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Kat in Chicago:

^^I had a clicky star from last time Duane played it. Gotta start following up on my clicky star trax.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Passaic River Blues:

Oh, that must be why it sounded vaguely familiar to me! Duane's picks are fast becoming the fuzzy systolic beat of my unconscious.
Avatar 2:39pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

True that Passaic River Blues! Duane beats ring in my head long after the show is over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Michael 98145:

* just a funky beat and you'll get started *
  2:44pm el BO-bO:

This sounds like Loco Mia. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha
Avatar 2:46pm kumar:

might want to consider upgrading this copy of Razz-Ma Tazz :) just sayin'
Avatar 2:47pm Duane:

kumar: I think i've had it since jr. high school:)
Avatar 2:49pm kumar:

I don't mind scuffs and crackle in my records but repeating ticks are just too distracting. I'm sure there's an Ableton plug-in for repeating ticks though (oh, cruel world).
Avatar 2:50pm kumar:

however, repeating ticks in gamelan polyrhythm records are probably OK
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Michael 98145:

( some tracks may tend to click on the train )
  2:55pm el BO-bO:

Theres another artist that sounds just like Wanda but I cant remember her name. Darn it. Any help?
  2:57pm Polyus:

Love this Wanda cut.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Michael 98145:

( good visual for the current beat: wfmu.org... )
