Avatar 3:05pm Cecile:

Fabio, play some Motorhead. You know you want to.
  3:06pm Neil comma Wild:

Motorhead! Motorhead!
Avatar 3:08pm northguineahills:

Avatar 3:08pm Cecile:

RIP Philthy Animal Taylor, finest drummer for that rock combo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm MD:

Fabio's tribute to Phil may not include any Moterhead....but it will...In his way... I am sure...

Howdy all..... experiencing The Failure of Grading Papers at the moment :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm MD:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I want to invent a machine that can take as inputs a song ("Mr. Giant Man," for example) and a band (Motörhead, for example) and the output would be the song played by the band. The biggest failure of that experiment would probably be the royalties.
Avatar 3:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

GOD BLOODY GOD this piece is marvelous. Can't believe I haven't pre-clickie'd it. Must have heard it on FMU before...?
Avatar 3:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

-- and hello.
Avatar 3:19pm βrian:

What a maelstrom of sound, this.
Avatar 3:21pm pb183max:

can someone share?
  3:22pm nic:

love this !!!
Avatar 3:22pm Chris from DC:

  3:28pm Brendan:

Theres a lot going in this. I particularly like the interplay between that thing and that other thing.
  3:32pm Dean:

@KenfHP: You've seen the Bonhamizer? It's a start.
  3:34pm Dean:

Yup. It's one of the few SJ releases I have.
Avatar 3:36pm Chris from DC:

Yup, that's when I saw them.
Avatar 3:36pm Megadano:

  3:37pm Za:

I liked it!
  3:37pm Brendan:

Organic vodka
  3:38pm Dean:

[I wonder what would happen if you uploaded a Led Zeppelin tune to that Bonhamizer...]

Avatar 4:06pm Cecile:

stream is bad today
  4:11pm nic:

craig leon was super
Avatar 4:12pm Cecile:

1981 might be a candidate for "best music year ever"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Rich in Washington:

I think you're onto something, Cecile. So many of my favorite albums came out that year.
Avatar 4:16pm Cecile:

same here.
1978 is up there, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm Rich in Washington:

I think 1981 might've been the year my musical tastes really went down the left hand path with no coming back.
Avatar 4:17pm Cecile:

I think so. My tastes were first exposed to freeform radio then, and I never looked back.
Avatar 4:19pm Cecile:

Avatar 4:19pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I'm on the record as hyping 1971 for that honor, but 1981 was another special one. Sky Records label stuff... Rastakraut Pasta was '81, methinks...
Avatar 4:19pm glenn:

the stream IS bad. maybe wfmu should get its prostate checked. oh, and happy 70th b'day, neil young.
Avatar 4:20pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I've been in & out of the headphones today, but the 128 stream has been old trusty, for me. No issues here...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm Rich in Washington:

@Cecile: Yep. My local freeform did it to me, too. Found it by accident tuning the dial one summer night.
Avatar 4:23pm Jeff:

I cannot tell a lie, I've been fussing around with one of the stream encoders while working on setting up a new stream relay server. I'd expect there'd have been a little glitch (but no actual outage) as the stream did its fallback to the backup, then another a minute or so later as it re-connected to its direct connection.

Did anything worse happen?
Avatar 4:25pm Cecile:

nope, not for me.
Avatar 4:26pm Cecile:

well, off to class. have a great afternoon folks!
Avatar 4:27pm Jeff:

About that upcoming harp show at Theatre 80: I think I saw/heard Mia Theodoratus a few years ago when she was doing a cool collaboration with Ann Magnuson at the Abrons Art Center.

I betcha whatever she does will be worth checking out.
Avatar 4:29pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

apologies, Rastakraut Pasta was 1980. But Roedelius' "lustwandel" and cluster's "curiosum" were '81, so that's a fine thing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Rich in Washington:

the stream sounds pretty good to me. What's it doing for other folks.
  4:35pm Tim in VT:

Is he better than Lynch or Badalamenti?
  4:37pm Tim in VT:

Who else is in that category?
Avatar 4:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Goblin Suspiria Weeeetch against theees Witch? Or which?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Carmichael:

OK, finally blew into cyber-town. Last half is better than no half.
Avatar 4:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...one guess Mr. Morricone's SunSign...would that be...I dunno...♏Scorpio ??
Man: filmscore/soundtrack...narrative but blasting the palette wide open. He's amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm cory:

this would be a great tune to go out to
  5:03pm Pete L:

Avatar 5:05pm MenfussMike:

Four Flies on Grey Velvet.....mmmmm Mimsy Farmer
Avatar 5:06pm Chris from DC:

That main title from Citta Violenta was fantastic.
Swag For Life Member 5:12pm BarbR:

Yup, Tuesday night, Beacon Theater, Horses. My husband went, and said it was amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm dale:

1975 - i dunno - i still think 'love will keep us together' was pretty awesome
Avatar 5:18pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...okay - but not ALL the time...
  5:19pm nic:

i think she was great then i can't stand her now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Parq:

That "Shaba-doo-wah" roll-out kills me every time.
Avatar 5:24pm TDK60:

Like Patti then, now. Thanks again Lou.
Avatar 5:25pm TDK60:

Are we rockin' Cleveland?!
  5:26pm P-90:

Chinchilla-Land Greetings, @Fabio & friends. So Sorry I missed Maestro Morricone's Birthday Bash. Will savor its pungent sweetness on the archive.
Avatar 5:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

YASSS. Was spinning this Ubu just this morning, before venturing to office-land..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Parq:

One of the best Ubu tracks ever. BTW, I trust everybody knows that Ubu Sings Ubu is playing next February at -- yes, this is true-- B.B. Kings in Times Square.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Uncle Michael:

Man, am I ever in the right place. This set gets me where I live.
Avatar 5:30pm TDK60:

I wonder if Pere Ubu are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Doubt it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Uncle Michael:

You mean right now? Like...all of them?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm dale:

i wonder if little johnny jewel knows frankie teardrop?
  5:34pm P-90:

This set is sending me back to college. New York was a very different place...but you could see Pere Ubu play in clubs in the village. There was no BB King's in Times Square, but there were theaters that showed kung-fu movies 24 hours a day.
  5:41pm Doug:

What a great show Fabio. Thanks for playing that magnificent block of music from the maestro. @p-90 Yes, it was a great time with 42nd St. being the mecca for all things exploitation. Pere Ubu was a band I never would have thought about lasting so long. I saw them at CBGBs. The last time I saw them was at Warsaw in Brooklyn about ten years ago. Still great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Rich in Washington:

this is such a great set, Fabio!
  5:46pm Christine:

Throw in some Suicide and you are playing my youth:)))
Avatar 5:48pm TDK60:

1980 was a great year for music. So was '79.
  5:49pm Oscar:

Surprised Clay hasn't commented on the Pere Ubu yet...
  5:50pm nic:

magic music time 4 sure
  5:51pm Oscar:

Only 4 sets in Fabio's show today... wow
  5:51pm nic:

  5:53pm Dean:

Not to be confused with Robert Frith (he's an accountant in Tallahassee) or Fred Fripp (second grade teacher in a suburb of Las Vegas). Neither plays guitar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Nobody liked Suicide except for Fabio and Springsteen!
  5:53pm Christine:

Now I have to turn this off---this dopey guy trying to be funny is making me sick.
Avatar 5:53pm TDK60:

Clay's thinkin' of Silver Apples likely.
Avatar 5:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Check it Clay: 38.media.tumblr.com...
- 1970 !
  5:54pm Marcel M:

Ahhh man you guys crack me up.
  5:55pm Oscar:

No not fun... you're... ummm... unique
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Parq:

To borrow a headline about Sir Ian and Sir Patrick, Fabio's and Clay's Bromance is better than yours.
  5:57pm Dean:

It took Jesus & Mary Chain how long to take this and run with it?
  5:57pm Oscar:

I miss the good old days before Fabio slowly grew immune to Clay's constant probing questions. We learned so much about the real Fabio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm dale:

wow. i wiki'd suicide after my half baked comment above. alan vega the singer is 77 and lives in brooklyn. GET HIM ON THE SHOW FABIO!
  5:58pm Marcel M:

Wow Greg... Just looked up that Springsteen thing... Amazing!! He cites Suicide as a major influence and covered a song.
  5:58pm Marcel M:

They played a few years back.. They opened for MGMT haha...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm dale:

hah! gordon leadfoot......
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Carmichael:
