Pretty sure the tour was 1978. I read that they were going to places where they would get an unwelcome reaction.

Yo Fabio!

Linda Lee:

one person's memory of a night. for what that's worth. nicely written, for sure. & of course Binky sees Punk as a british phenomenon. i won't contest that. the SEX shop was in London after all .. 'punk' , though .. well, that's different. i don't believe it was actually born anywhere in particular. .. i actually do remember hearing about the pies.

  5:46pm

in 77 - 78 you'd be hassled in the street if you looked a certain way .. androgynous, i guess .. that was an aspect of Punk style that isn't mentioned much. ...
  5:47pm
Linda Lee:

dale, i agree. it's like the dark brown m & ms.
  5:49pm
Dean:

I call bollocks to that story about the arrival of punk. I distinctly recall hearing about the Pistols in '76, and when in winter of that year I visited London from California I bought the Anarchy single. It was a huge phenomenon before any of the British bands actually played in North America.
