Stay away from God's house too. God will eat you up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"Wall Street Booms!"? Well, that is evidently not today's paper.
  3:21pm taffy expert:

pull it out of your mouth and stick it to your forhead.
Avatar 3:21pm V Priceless:

just a pinch between your cheek and gums, Irwin! Ha!
Avatar 3:22pm Roberto:

Yes. Homer and Marge were cast members on the T.U. Show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Polyus:

'crudely drawn filler material', as actor Troy McClure said.
Avatar 3:25pm laughingacademy:

Is the stream skipping or is it just me?
  3:25pm Jack:

She really makes these Moby Grape songs sparkle; I love this.
Avatar 3:26pm laughingacademy:

OK, closed and restarted the player and now we're fine
Avatar 3:29pm Jeff:

I heard somewhere that Ms. Ullman gets really cranky when people bring up The Simpsons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Tyler:

"I Can't Believe It's the Best Day of My Life" is the best song I've heard all day! Thanks Irwin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Guido from Cologne:

Uuuh ... I need this !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Mike East:

I like that Tame Impala chap. I wonder if he'll burn out or fade away. which is the good one again?
Avatar 3:39pm Irwin:

Tame Impala used to be in the band Macwood Fleet.
  3:48pm Tony Seymour:

Goat rocks out as a Goat normally does in real life i hear.......Time for Irwin to speak up......Yo!!!****
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm doctorjazz:

Just have to say, as a FOW lover, just love this track!
  3:53pm P-90:

Good to hear your voice and this show, Irwin, i'm into my second week laid up after leg surgery, alone in the apt, everyone I know out of town, FMU has been an inavaluable companion. And it's a Joe Frank Day too!

@Jeff: I wonder if that's true about Tracey Ullman re: Simpsons. Curious to know what that's about exactly...?
Avatar 3:55pm Irwin:

P-90: Sorry to hear of your impairment. What's the prognosis?
Avatar 3:56pm Jeff:

If true, the potential reason seems clear: she was the headliner of a funny comedy/variety show; there was a bizarre interstitial cartoon; now practically nobody remembers her show, but they always want to talk about the freakin' Simpsons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Mike East:

@P90- I would guess its because she didn't really have much if anything to do with the production of the cartoon shorts, and would prefer to talk about things that she has done herself. That's a total guess though. you'd have to ask her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Mike East:

you should definitely bring it up if you ever run into her.
  3:57pm P-90:

I'll be gradually getting up and strarting to walk a little over the next few weeks, nothing permanent (I think!), thanks for asking.
  4:00pm P-90:

@Jeff and Mike: well those are the obvious guesses; I wonder if she's ever been more specific about this herself?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm chris:

i would buy Jeff's explanation... i, for one, remember the Tracy Ullman show, and i was delighted to hear her here (after so many years)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm chris:

glad to hear you are on the (albeit slow) mend, P-90
Avatar 4:11pm glenn:

he's operating at p-55 levels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Alison Porchnik:

sounds like Hoboken in 1956
  4:26pm P-90:

Thanks for the well wishes, all.
When Joe is in his most expansive narrative mode, as here, I sometimes find him strongly reminiscent of William Burroughs or, maybe even more so, the English Science Fiction author JG Ballard. Anyone else get that, or similar?
  4:27pm JakeGould:

As much as I like Joe Frank, the sound quality on these latest shows is pretty bad. I seem that works in progress? But otherwise that sounds like an eBay bootleg MP3.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Mike East:

@P90 - I can see the Burroughs connection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Mike East:

Avatar 4:34pm Irwin:

Jake: This one's particularly low-fi. It's an early show and we didn't have a better audio transfer. I'll do more conscientious QC in the future.
Avatar 4:38pm Ryab:

Thanks for all the Joe Frank, Irwin. One of the (may) special things about this station.
Avatar 4:38pm Ryab:

  4:39pm Listening Out There:

The current section of Joe Frank sounds like an episode by Gabriel Garcia Marquez...
  4:40pm marc:

Is that Sadeness Part 1 in the background?
Avatar 4:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

24/7 Joe Stream. Everything should have its' own stream...
Avatar 4:41pm Ryab:

What's your favorite hour long -byte, Irwin? I really liked Eye In The Sky...and Iceland Pt. 1
Avatar 4:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Enigma? - or as we used to call it @ the CD store - 'Chants & Pants'...
...or could share the stream w/ Burroughs & Ken Nordine & stuff...
Avatar 4:44pm Irwin:

Ryab: Too many to choose one. Dozens vie for 1st place.
Avatar 4:44pm Ryab:

I thought about it for a bit and I think the same is for me. Too many are too good.
  5:04pm P-90:

Oh? "A-A-D-D?" Joe's shows have always had great sound, if that one was just from a bad dupe, that explains the conspicuous low-fi quality. Enjoyed the show, though. It's a good example of that "Joe style period".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Ike:

Ah, I remember the days when AAD, ADD, and DDD were a thing on the back of CDs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Carmichael:

Marco knows how to lay down the disco beat.
Avatar 5:24pm ironybread:

The most wicked disco I've heard in the last few years (besides Mr. Murphy's well-known now-defunct outfit) is Publicist, specifically "Hand to Mouth": www.youtube.com...

Sounds a lot like Curve.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Ike:

That's why I've always loved this track, NGH.
  5:47pm P-90:

@RRN63: just saw that, good one!
Avatar 5:47pm glenn:

oh, elaine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Carmichael:

Oh Lord. Irwin, I hope you're being ironic.
Avatar 5:49pm Irwin:

What the hell did I do to deserve this?
Avatar 5:50pm Irwin:

You tuned in and stayed.
Avatar 5:50pm glenn:

wasn't mary mccaslin married to jim ringer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm dale:

love that high lonesome sound of mary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Mike East:

lovely version of this.
  5:54pm listener monica:

love mary mccaslin
  5:54pm P-90:

Dunno, but I do know Shania's not married to that Mutt any more. She is ON the market, boys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm chris:

my belt buckles are all too small for Shania's taste, i fear. oh, and i'm married.
Avatar 5:55pm glenn:

hmmm. and i have relatives in timmins. i'm in like flynn.
  5:56pm judy:

Oh mary mc and jim ringer.
Still sound great
  5:58pm Listening Out There:

Gotta go. Heading out for a trim...
  5:58pm P-90:

I've just been reminded: Shania has remarried, to the ex-husband of the woman who broke up her marriage. There's gotta be lyrics for at least ONE country song there...
