Woo hoo, Hawkwind!

@Ken from HP - if you're not busy, take a ride down to WPDH and rig it up so Chris' show comes out over their airwaves. You'd be doing their listeners a favor.
Avatar 9:25am Cheri Pi:

I was 4 and just starting to notice what was being played on the U.S. Military radio station in Japan.

Great Neil! 75 was a fine year, it appears.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am doctorjazz:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am common:

75 lovely!
Avatar 9:41am d¢ pät:

I didn't know there was music in 1975. I had a radio so I must have heard some. Go figure...
  9:42am P-90:

"Kung Fu Fighting" always gets left out. Too "Disco" or something...
Avatar 9:43am d¢ pät:

ah! Kung Fu Fighting I remember! That was big in our house.
  9:46am P-90:

Also the very year veterans Neil Sedaka and Frankie Valli both came back strong and had one of their biggest hits ever.
  9:48am P-90:

B-O-W-I-E !
Avatar 9:48am d¢ pät:

oh yeah...
Avatar 9:48am glenn:

k.f.f. was fall of '74, i seem to recall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am sphere:

Lennon played on this Bowie track, right?
Avatar 9:49am d¢ pät:

We must have driven to FLA that year. Must have heard Fame, I'm Not In Love, about 5000 times.
Avatar 9:50am d¢ pät:

Think he sang back vox.
Avatar 9:50am Sem Chumbo:

Funky disco Dave, a year before he became the Duke.
  9:50am P-90:

kff: still in heavy rotation after Christmas break, trust me.
Avatar 9:52am V Priceless:

'75 was largely about 10cc's "Original Soundtrack" here - was doing a little head-scratching w/Bowie, too, honestly. Wasn't nuts about the 'Young Americans' single. Still the one Bowie record I don't own. Should grab it, regardless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am sphere:

Since I was 5 at the time, I might have been listening to my Sesame Street alphabet 7"s or my Tony Orlando and Dawn LP.
Avatar 9:53am d¢ pät:

this could get ugly. There was a lot of truly shitty music in '75. Why do you think they invented punk?
Avatar 9:53am uuee:

Ah the youngsters speak....in '75, I was a home owner, in my last year as a non-father...'NEW FM had gone down the tubes, and I was on the cusp of discovering WFMU...Dave Herman (perv) had done me in, with his f'n "Bruce Juice", every AM, a few years before. Then around '77, Freeform entered my life
Avatar 9:55am V Priceless:

ha - I thought I heard that Al Stewart Bowie riff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am Lewis:

Beersies? Provided? Graciously?!
Avatar 10:02am d¢ pät:

hmm.. this doesn't sound like Captain and Tensile.
Avatar 10:04am Cheri Pi:

  10:04am P-90:

Wait 'til "Tommy" hits the theaters. Elton's "Pinball Wizard" rules the airwaves. Interminably.
Avatar 10:04am Cheri Pi:

Tenile Strength = great band name
  10:05am P-90:

Toni, yer comin' out of retirement!
Avatar 10:06am d¢ pät:

Beersies and Tennile
Avatar 10:08am Cheri Pi:

Ever notice how Captain had only 1 facial expression?
Avatar 10:08am Chris from DC:

Beersies mentioned at a little after 10 Monday morning. Going to be a long week.
Avatar 10:09am Cheri Pi:

I'm indulging in beersies tonight, on account of seeing Peter Hook tonight.
Avatar 10:10am the Canterbury wood-elf:

This isn't the Jane I know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Greg from Bloomfield:

VICTORY! Morning, everybody.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Ken From Hyde Park:

I think The Captain has been ill lately. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.
  10:16am P-90:

Unfortunately, "Muskrat Love" didn't arrive until '76, heralding the peak of "Capt. & Tennille Mania". The young Weird Al Yankovic's parody "Muskrat Glove", about rodent safe sex, didn't make it past the mono cassette demo stage.
Avatar 10:17am Sem Chumbo:

What a shame, truly.
  10:18am P-90:

It was a learning experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am crateslinger:

The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald happened late in 1975, so the song had to wait til '76.
Avatar 10:22am d¢ pät:

Oh yeah, got some good choices with the Kinks. 2 albums in 1975.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am doctorjazz:

Hey, wasn't Blues for Allah released 75? Just sayin...
Avatar 10:23am Claw!:

Yo, Peeps!
  10:24am P-90:

Hail Claw!
Avatar 10:24am Chris M.:

what is Blues for Allah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am Polyus:

Scorpions 'In Trance' is a fine hard rock record from 1975.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am doctorjazz:

Grateful Dead (not their best, studio albums downhill from there...)
Avatar 10:27am Claw!:

Avatar 10:27am d¢ pät:

Man. Hard Way is like Ray trying to hurry punk rock along a little.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am doctorjazz:

Franklin's Tower good track, though.
Avatar 10:28am Chris M.:

no offense but you guys are naming pretty much everything i don't like
Avatar 10:29am d¢ pät:

Well I'm with you on Grateful Dead but if you don't like the Kinks, there's the door...
Avatar 10:31am Chris M.:

which door? the one that leads away from the kinks' worst albums?
Avatar 10:31am Cheri Pi:

whut DCP said
Avatar 10:33am Sem Chumbo:

Let's all chip in, get Chris a denim jacket and ink "The Kinks Stinks" on it.
  10:33am P-90:

"Day of the Eagle" by Robin Trower was still on the charts in 1975. That one's gotta be OK with you, Cheri?
Avatar 10:34am Chris M.:

maybe you didn't hear the 1 billion times i've played the kinks.
Avatar 10:34am d¢ pät:

Not going to defend Soap Opera but Schoolboys has some good stuff on it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35am doctorjazz:

I'll try to make amends, Dead not big FMU band (Uncle Michael seems the only fan I've come across), how about AWB, Pick Up the Pieces, who doesn't like that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35am Polyus:

@P-90 - was just thinking "There must have been a Robin Trower record released that year".
Avatar 10:35am d¢ pät:

Well I was only keeding..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am doctorjazz:

The Blakulla does sound like Deadheads would go for it, btw...
Avatar 10:36am Chris M.:

  10:36am P-90:

@Polyus: "Bridge of Sighs": 1974, but "Eagle" still getting airplay in '75.
Avatar 10:38am Chris from DC:

Say, didn't Death record in '75.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am sphere:

Sorry, but I am in the No Zappa Club for the most part.
Avatar 10:39am the Canterbury wood-elf:

Jeff Conklin often plays some nice Dead jams ('68-'74) on the Avant Ghetto. Always causes a storm of opinions on the comments board.
Avatar 10:39am Cheri Pi:

I like this Zappa song because I heard it on Dr. Dimento, otherwise this is a no fly zone
Avatar 10:39am Chris M.:

any more complaints? i'm really enjoying them
Avatar 10:39am Sem Chumbo:

@sphere, naturally I am curious about the least part.
Avatar 10:40am Sem Chumbo:

What's the use of complaining, it never was worthwhile.
Avatar 10:41am Cheri Pi:

1975 was a year fraught with musical schizms & angst Chrissem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am sphere:

Mothers of Invention and "Montana" for some strange reason....
  10:41am P-90:

Do complaints about the complaints count?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am sphere:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Zappa wails.

KISS? it's Ace's birthday ya know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Carmichael:

In September of 75, I saw Frampton, Loggins & Messina and Rod Stewart & Faces (with the Tower of Power horns) at a football stadium in Sacramento.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am fleep:

Cone of Silence lifted! Greetings, agents and Chris M.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am common:

this is great, chris! and did someone mention beersies a while ago?
Avatar 11:48am Sem Chumbo:

Jeeze, THAT was a Twilight-Zone like moment, or 2.
Didn't mean it about the denim jacket, man.
  11:49am P-90:

In '75, Tubes, Sparks, Sweet, Queen were the newer bands that gave me and my friends hope, like little puffs of Rock fresh air.
Avatar 11:49am Claw!:

No more time-out! Yaaay!

For what it's worth, Chris - this has been a fine set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Stevel:

...and the NEW led Zeppelin double album!!
  11:50am rw:

Hey Chris, I don't often leave comments at this hour but felt compelled to let you know this show kicks ass. 1975 must have been a good year for me. I think it was around the time I first discovered FM radio. Rock on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Carmichael:

This is meant for Kenzo: I have had a video stream link available on my iphone app since yesterday afternoon. It leads nowhere, BTW.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Carmichael:

10cc's I'm Not in Love came out in '75 also.
  11:53am P-90:

Zeppelin was peaking, and we also welcomed Fleetwood Mac, because how could we have foreseen the oversaturation that would ruin that in the next couple years?
Avatar 11:53am Cheri Pi:

WAIT, beersies again?
  11:54am P-90:

"gratiously provided by Sierra Nevada" -see you all there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am sphere:
