  12:18pm oks:

Avatar 12:19pm Duane:

Hi Oks!!
Avatar 12:23pm kumar:

ooh the Split Decision Band 7 was the one I needed! Found one for a good price.
Avatar 12:26pm still b/p:

Gooooood afternoon.
"My Big Chief Has A Golden Crown"...of stars. It's been favorited by half a dozen of us. Is that in the last ten minutes, or dating back through the whole life of the playlist star system?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm blee:

Good Day Everybody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Mike East:

a groovy start, Duane. very danceable.
Avatar 12:29pm Cheri Pi:

Clicky Stars name check! heya Duane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm adrian in mpls:

@still b/p - it looks like all of those stars, save one, are from today!
Avatar 12:35pm still b/p:

Thank you to the Astronomical Research Dept., aka Clickypedia!
Avatar 12:41pm steve:

wow nice!
  12:42pm Kstar:

Yes! This song is making it hard to concentrate on my work! i can't stop dancing!
Avatar 12:46pm Jshatan:

I had two Wild Magnolias albums on my iPod for like five years. Finally had to clear out some room - now I miss them! Willie Tee was (is?) a genius.
Avatar 12:49pm Duane:

Jshatan: WIllie Tee was the man RIP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Polyus:

Duane - if I understood your question correctly, I nominate Bodo Elsel "Fantasie Madachen". Love the song, but the 12" goes for way too much $$$ on Discogs.
Avatar 12:49pm still b/p:

I'd like to see Audrey Hepburn dancing to the Holly Golightly track, but maybe that's just me.
Avatar 12:52pm Duane:

Polyus: You understood correctly. I'll take note of that one. Good track!
Avatar 12:53pm Mugsy:

Good afternoon Duane, greetings boarders.
Avatar 12:54pm still b/p:

Wild Magnolias star-stock still rising -- now at 8 clicks for today. Push it up...push it real good.
Avatar 12:54pm Duane:

Afternoon Mugsy!
Avatar 12:54pm steve:

songs to inspire? Loud E's "LoudEfied" version of Cliche - "Sexy Girl" (which i believe was played on this program at some point)
Avatar 12:56pm kumar:

Polyus: $20 including shipping? I've seen worse ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Polyus:

Ah, you're right! I din't see some of those in the past - looks as if there are more listed than last time I looked.
Avatar 1:04pm kumar:

Tight Vanilla edit of Confection's You Got The Love. I think I like the edit better.
Avatar 1:06pm Duane:

kumar: Me too. That guy does killer work
  1:12pm Wild Neil:

This reminds me of 80's Madonna
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm SeanG:

Avatar 1:14pm still b/p:

Speaking of edits -- Reading the article Kat in Chicago linked us to last week about RazorMaid had me amazed at the thought of the intensive edit work done with tape back in the early days of the re-edit/remix concept.
Avatar 1:18pm kumar:

I wish more Confection was on vinyl. It's so good. Modern Aussie boogie at its finest.
Avatar 1:18pm Duane:

still b/p: Such a fantastic article and it was great lil fill-in-the-blanks history lesson on all of the components that made up the history of House music and it's influences
Avatar 1:31pm kirk from beer city usa:

I'm really looking forward to hearing stuff Dilla sampled. thanks in advance, Duane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Kat in Chicago:

this rhyme of "give a heck" and "respect"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm nickybones:

i love your Donuts-MBV comparison. i need to be more familiar with former.
Avatar 1:39pm steve:

wow! so cool
Avatar 1:40pm steve:

unbelievable, thanks Duane
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm dale:

LOVE bendix/lightworks. duane, was it you a few years back who played the whole 'wozard of iz' album?
  1:42pm Marc:

Don't let Isaac Mizrahi hear that "Tomorrow People" record. He'd say it proves his theory that the moon is a planet.
Avatar 1:42pm V Priceless:

WOW! Duane! Love this 10cc record! Woo! Thanx!
Avatar 1:42pm kirk from beer city usa:

wow, 10cc! this is blowing my (dilla-infected) mind. never knew. until now. thanks to duane.
Avatar 1:43pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 1:43pm steve:

dale i think that was Bryce?
Avatar 1:45pm kirk from beer city usa:

damn, Dionne!
Dilla did it again
(not to mention Duane)
Avatar 1:49pm still b/p:

Only the biggest 10cc hits seem to show up anywhere on radio. Cuts like Worst Band and Hotel and a few others familiar from the FM 70s stay buried.
Avatar 1:51pm V Priceless:

Fruitman!! Woo!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm blee:

THIS IS AWESOME. Love the J-Dilla flashbacks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm dale:

ha ha - this is a trippy set.
  1:53pm GeorgeSimian:

Nice show! Loving it! What the hell is Charlie's Theme? That's a great track!
Avatar 1:53pm V Priceless:

'Light of Worlds' is such a fab record!
  1:54pm kstar:

Fruitman makes me crave KoolAid
  1:54pm Andy the painter:

this is embarrassing, but I have to admit I had never heard of this donuts lp (different musical territory for me).
but if it samples all these great sources, I am definitely gonna chk it out.
this is what wfmu is for
Avatar 1:55pm Duane:

Andy the Painter: You're gonna love it:)
  2:00pm this guy:

Thanks Duane! It's not just what Dilla did with these tunes, but he was seeing the potential each had. I always wanted to look these up. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm blee:

@this guy - well said.
  2:09pm tim:

the music is really hitting home today, thanks duane
Avatar 2:10pm Kurt Gottschalk:

damn. africa, three degrees, jerry butler? leave some asskick for the other djs, yo.
Avatar 2:14pm Jshatan:

Every time we listen to Donuts my wife and I walk around saying "The name of the game is Lightworks!" for the rest of the day. Two geniuses: Dilla and Scott.
Avatar 2:15pm kirk from beer city usa:

love it
  2:17pm this guy:

@Jshatan - nice!
Avatar 2:21pm still b/p:

When I Die -- nice single not heard for a long while. I never coulda toldja who recorded it in an even longer while, like a million years.
Avatar 2:21pm steve:

amazing. i teared up.
Avatar 2:29pm kirk from beer city usa:

Duane: how about a "Dilla's original material" mixtape, like you're doing now? If you offer it on an actual cassette, I'll definitely spring for it!
Avatar 2:31pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Avatar 2:31pm Duane:

kirk: Good idea. I do believe there's a couple of collections like that on the market, but maybe if i did re-edits of certain things, that could be cool..nice one
Avatar 2:32pm Duane:

Georgesimian: Charlie's theme is actually members of Portishead under an alias.
Avatar 2:33pm kirk from beer city usa:

maybe a Sylvers mega-mix then!
Avatar 2:38pm Duane:

kirk: That's a nice idea too
  2:39pm Andy the painter:

re: "donuts"....will definitely have to update my country-rock tearjerker "catching up with hip-hop ten years later"
Avatar 2:39pm slugluv1313:

oooooooo CRISTINA!!!!!!!
awesome show, Duane!
Avatar 2:42pm kirk from beer city usa:

great fab five freddy story, by the way
Avatar 2:44pm kumar:

epic CD fail. Hah.
Avatar 2:45pm Duane:

kirk: It's one for the ages!
Avatar 2:46pm Duane:

kumar: It's about time! These shows were going too smoothly for my liking :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Mike East:

damn...three hours just flew by. great stuff, duane
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm chris:

Thanks for another great ride on the train, Duane!
