Avatar 12:14pm

Hey Jeremy! That sounds amazing!! Where was it? Hola fellow hump day travelers!
Avatar 12:17pm

It turns out that she has a day job working for a financial company and sang as part of a talent show at a fundraiser. She should have won but was robbed!
Avatar 12:18pm

enjoying all the zara mcfarlane these past few weeks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm

Duane, a WFMU DJ that does not like the doors? what are the odds??
Avatar 12:38pm

Spanky Wilson's 'Light My Fire' is BOMB
Avatar 12:38pm

Patrick: Shocking, right??? There's even some WFMU DJs who..dislike the Beatles! *gasp*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm

OHIO Funk edition!!! im so excited im gonna bite someones shoulder!! ive been waiting for years!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm

i remember when The Best Show used to be on and that one dude from the doors died and Tom said he thought about doing a small tribute to him, but then realized that it would be totally disingenuous considering he had spent hours of the show talking about how much he hated the doors.
Avatar 12:43pm

Yeah..I've been known to write published essays about how the Doors are responsible for some of the worst musical trends of the past 30 years..:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm

bravo Duane you are doing to lords work!
Avatar 12:49pm

I'm just going to ride out this anti-Doors storm...

man, this is gooooood!
Avatar 12:50pm
still b/p:

Please direct us to where you swatted the Lizard King & Co., so we can read the makin' o' the case.
Avatar 12:51pm

This is a fantastic version! My favorite to sing along with is Harry Nilsson's demented take, however.
Avatar 12:56pm

still b/p: I gotta find it..it was for the Finders Keepers 'zine. I think I wrote it back in '05. I got wasted with Andy Votel, Gareth Cherrystones & Jazzman Gerald and they were rolling on the floor when I started ranting, cuz the bartender wouldn't stop playing the Doors..they made me write an essay for them..it's called "The Doors get slammed"
david from ks:

,,,,, nnnPlease ! Keep the doors Locked!!!
Avatar 1:02pm
still b/p:

Or you could take a taste for y'self right now and rrrrramp it up again, live! ..over a non-Doors groove bg.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Kat in Chicago:

Getting wasted with Andy Votel sounds like fun :) also, perfect title for that essay.
Avatar 1:05pm
still b/p:

And though he didn't know it was happening, Duane won that night's Spoken Word Slam.
Avatar 1:06pm

Kat: Wasted with Andy is more like a contact sport and endurance test, but it's still Pretty fun, once you know what you're in for..those Northerners, man!
Avatar 1:06pm

i want to read The Doors essay, too. Maybe it'll make me feel better for the hours I lost being lectured to about how Jim Morrison was such a genius in high school...
Avatar 1:10pm

I'd venture to guess if Jim Morrison looked like Wallace Shawn we would spend a lot less time listening to/about the Doors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Kat in Chicago:

@robyn I suspect as much
Avatar 1:18pm

Avatar 1:20pm

Hello Steve!
Avatar 1:22pm

oh yeah..anyone's interested in seeing the Kissey performance tobookmark later check it out here..it was dope! www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
Greg from Bloomfield:

@robyn: Yeah, but that's inconceivable.
Avatar 1:23pm
still b/p:

Oliver Stone should've cast Shawn instead of Kilmer. Now, that's a movie.
Avatar 1:24pm

still b/p: OH Hell Yeah! THat woulda been sick..HAHA
Avatar 1:27pm

@still b/p hahaha... well, hey, shawn IS the better actor!
Avatar 1:29pm

Messi pulled out in the 63rd minute...hopefully Germany is as generous with its stars...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm
Guido from Cologne:

Avatar 1:50pm

RIght!!! thriftstoreleather..and Bootsy is from Cinci not Dayton..GOD! Kill me now!
Avatar 1:51pm

I actually met Bootsy a couple times
Avatar 1:52pm

Seymour Stein of Sire records fame got his start as a kid at King records
Avatar 1:52pm

tfl: Really? That'd be a dream. I heard he's a sweet guy
Avatar 1:53pm

oh yeah, real chill
Avatar 1:57pm

Broth? Was Dennis Coffey involved in this somehow? It has his sound.

Great show!!! Loved Merryweather & Casey - Shop Around. Got a link to where I can get that?
Avatar 2:00pm

speck: Thanx..I played it off of vinyl, but I think it's floating around..it's a pretty famous breakbeat, so I think it's "out there"
Avatar 2:01pm

JSHatan: Yeah no Coffey as far as I know, but it's got that dirty funky lead guitar ala Dennis. Grime!!
Avatar 2:05pm

howdy Duane and listeners!

Ken From Hyde Park:

Today's show is really swinging.

I'm floored by this cover! Curtis was the best and this brings something new - Thanks Duane!
Avatar 2:25pm

Thanks Ken!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm

Yay! Saadi! Back aboard the train after an unscheduled stop in worksville. Yay for archives!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Sem Chumbo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm

GGreat show as always! What a day!
Avatar 2:34pm

hi every1, hello Duane, k's choice up next or what?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
Guido from Cologne:

Actually those artificial vinyl crackles on Texas/Votel made me remember the Cubase Seqencer Demo Song back in 1996 ! ...hehehe...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
Guido from Cologne:

Dug the shop around loui treatments.

Doesnt that bass guitar sound defintely British? If i remember right, one of the two producer/writers played it.
Avatar 2:42pm

if there's been ever some "perfect songs" written they will surely be found easily on funk or soul ... besides the beatles
Avatar 2:43pm

Guido:Yeah Neil Merryweather played bass on that one
Avatar 2:44pm

i liked it some flavors of double picking
Avatar 2:47pm

in rock too don't get me wrong but i said "perfect"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
Guido from Cologne:

Loved the show!
(Listen oudoors on my bike.)
Looking foward to the next episode and fi ally to find your premium in the mail!

This is an awesome beat. Enjoying it greatly.
Avatar 2:58pm

meaning that in pop you also can look for perfection but it's more vast and in rock you have to explore its extremes in order to decode comfort of fulfillment..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm

woot! thanks, Daune! Thanks, All!
Avatar 3:00pm

comfort, if not looking for profit, can mean the property of your own way and the licks far past the memory of your sounds
