Good morning Bob and all. Nice Savoy Brown right there

Mornin' bb & all! Yes, Savoy Brown!

I wanna get the Miles mono box too but I'll go broke...hehe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Mike East:

I own Drive on bluray, but I think I left it in storage...now I kinda want to watch it.
  9:42am LovecraftDude888:

??? Drive?
  9:45am LovecraftDude888:

lost the thread here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Mike East:

Yeah, "Drive" - the Nicolas Winding Refn movie that uses "Oh My Love" - I can't help but associate that two. That film is very visceral and the music choices are perfect. (imo)
Avatar 9:46am doca:

Hey, guys, I don't know if you're interested, but I have updated the blog with the Brazilian song translations. Now I'm focusing on the 1968 Tropicália album, so maybe you'll want to see it. Here is the link: brazil70translationproject.wordpress.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am Mike East:

@doca - many years ago, I worked out a rough translation of a minha menina so I could perform it in English
  9:49am LovecraftDude888:

oh didn't know that song was used in Drive, ok. Gotcha. I really should pick up the blu ray of Drive soon. But already watched it like 2x the past year or more but on regular DVD from library here. But worth owning.
Avatar 9:50am doca:

Hahahah! "Poor girl, she doesn't have anybody"? My translations are always rough translations, but I like writing the comments after.
Avatar 9:51am doca:

Oh sorry, I mixed it up with another song! Now I'm ashamed of myself. I thought it was this one: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 9:52am doca:

As I've said, Mutantes is not really my thing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Mike East:

@LCD - its literally the only bluray I've ever bought. saw it in the theater and eagerly awaited its release.
@doca - I went through a period of having them blow my mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am Mike East:

a minha menina is probably their most recognizable song...I think I heard it used in a McDonald's commercial or something.
  9:55am LovecraftDude888:

Mike, ha...I just got a blu ray player recently, mainly been borrowing some from the lib. here. Idon't buy many movies these days anyway. But I might buy that one it's cheap enough on Amazon.
Avatar 9:55am doca:

@Mike: I had that period too, it's amazing how much creativity can be channeled into a band.
  9:57am LovecraftDude888:

even watched Paths of Glory on blu ray that was great

B23 here! G'morning Bob and friends.

Good snowy morning everyone
Avatar 10:06am doca:

@Mike: I've did a rough translation of Minha Menina on spot, probably is like yours. Tomorrow I'll post it on the blog.

She's my girl
I'm her boy
She's my love
I'm her little cutie love

The silvery moon hided away
Now the sun is shining bright
It's such a beautiful morning
It smells like joyfulness

Because I have dreamed
And I woke thinking of her

That she's my girl
I'm her boy
She's my love
I'm her little cutie love

The roses are now blooming
And she's the rose I got
For her I put reason
Second to my heart

And I'll tell everybody
How much I like her

Because she's my girl
I'm her boy
She's my love
I'm her little cutie love

The silvery moon hided away
Now the sun is shining bright
It's such a beautiful morning
It smells like joyfulness
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am Mike East:

@doca - I see them much like I see Bob Marley, who is a good gateway into reggae music and Jamaican culture, but once you go deeper, you realize there are many other artists who are just as good, if not better. That can make some resent him, but I think its important for people to broaden their horizons to further cultural understanding in whatever way they can.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Greg from Bloomfield:

Whoa! This song is an instant hangover cure...
Avatar 10:10am doca:

Yes, I see that Mutantes and Tropicália became much of the end point in people's tastes, and now the way into a new world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Mike East:

awesome, doca! mine was similar...had to stretch some things out to make them fit the syllables.
  10:13am scott:

Chirpy Cheep, thanks Bob, this song will be stuck in my head all day. Haven't heard it on the radio since the early 70s.
  10:13am LovecraftDude888:

wow i saw Katie Kissoon live with Rog. Waters in 1984 far out.
Avatar 10:24am doca:

@Mike: I never try to fit the lyrics into the rhymes 'cause I don't have talent for it. If you still have your translation, I would like to see it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am Mike East:

gotta be in a notebook somewhere. I'll keep an eye out for it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35am Mike East:

that main riff from Nocturnal is still echoing in my head
Avatar 10:38am under-aged model airplane:

@Mike You made me realize it is resonating in my head as well which brought an epiphany that I like that sound a lot but thought I didn't care for it much. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am Mike East:

nice!
  10:48am scott:

Rowed a scull from the MIT boathouse. 'Boat on the Charles' and 'Dirty Water' were the hummed songs. Thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am Santos L Halper:

Thanks for the Todd. Is that the Edsel 2-fee? Just got that a few days ago but haven't listened to Ballad yet. The alternate Runt was pretty cool

  9:00pm Eugene Bentley:

I've always loved 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep. Sound is awfully good for an old 45. Thorinsfield is great (checked amazon.com, it's available as a mp3 download). The new Hushdrops track is a killer.
Avatar 9:46pm Jay S:

I listened to "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep," then listened to "Cum On Feel the Noize." Some melodic and harmonic shared material there. Chirpy came out 2 years before Slade's Noize. The drum intro on Quiet Riot's version of Noize is similar to the drum intro on Chirpy.
