wow, great lead track!
  9:07am LovecraftDude888:

back...was saying Ear Wax is pretty good, a bit pricey though sometimes for now CDs. That bookstore BookThug is pretty decent. I hear about a few new shops in Bushwick but haven't been yet. That was another trip I'm gonna do soon. Matter of battling on the Jackie Robinson!
🥁 9:09am David in ATL from NJ:

Good morning, Bob. Nice to be listening "live" for a change.
  9:10am Bob B.:

Hey. good morning all!
  9:11am LovecraftDude888:

and no snow here at all yet but looks a bit wettish from earlier
Avatar 🥁 9:11am duke:

great start to a saturday. enjoying oatmeal with the show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am Mike East:

duke, you just decided what I'm having for breakfast. Cheers!
  9:14am LovecraftDude888:

wow a Sly Stone box..didn't know that was out. Crazy. I'm still trying to figure out how to afford the Wilson Pickett box!
Avatar 🥁 9:16am duke:

@mike add raisins, walnuts, cinnamon, dried cranberries = breakfast feast with hot coffee
  9:17am LovecraftDude888:

I'm allegedly Type 2 now...so have zen breakfast: plain cheerios, almond milk, one slice vegan cheese and coffee. now that's spare
Avatar 9:18am SmokinJ:

Sinsemilla & Beer... Breakfast of Brainenites!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am Mike East:

think i'll do honey walnuts cinnamon maybe cranberries, maybe raw cashews
  9:18am LovecraftDude888:

oatmeal is good though
  9:19am LovecraftDude888:

Mike, they're saying chance of some snow Sunday more than today....I think
  9:20am LovecraftDude888:

Man, i tried watching The Killer Inside Me 2010 last night, what a terrible movie...so over the top violent even I had to turn it right off. That never happens
Avatar 🥁 9:21am duke:

I saw The Killer Inside Me listed on Netflix. I was wondering if it was any good.
  9:25am LovecraftDude888:

It's like..hell. So disturbing it's beyond belief. But otherwise a terrible film..not well made, it's just like, bad. I wouldn't bother. Violence doesn't usually phase me but this was like awful.
  9:26am LovecraftDude888:

A lot of new directors seem to feel they have to show everything graphically....thus misunderstanding what a film is. If we wanted a snuff film we would buy one.
Avatar 🥁 9:28am duke:

I think I'll pass on it then.
  9:29am LovecraftDude888:

I might reread the novel it's prob. a better idea anyway. That's disturbo too, but nothing like this awful film. I hear the early version with STacy Keach isn't that good either but not as graphic, I'm sure
  9:32am P-90:

"Beat Girl"!!! Yay! Good Morning all!
  9:35am LovecraftDude888:

I still don't know Asphalt Jungle..gonna go get that later and watch that for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am Mike East:

Lovecraftdude - we're closing in on an inch of snow here. still comin' down
  9:37am LovecraftDude888:

now it's getting dark again here a bit but no snow..weird
  9:41am LovecraftDude888:

ordered up Asphalt Jungle from library here..woohoo I watched Only God Forgives last month..that's ultraviolent too but also not a great film..it's ok. Even DRIVE is ultraviolent in spots but not that bad...I mean it is...but cartoonish almost
  9:41am LovecraftDude888:

I'm a major hardboiled fan of any kind...but when you've got a guy beating Jessica Alba's face in it gets a bit much
  9:42am LovecraftDude888:

goshdarnit this is another box set I meant to get ages ago..I really really need to buy it
  9:44am LovecraftDude888:

there's some record show on LI tomorrow..half tempted to attend just to try to find a copy of that!
  9:45am LovecraftDude888:

wow everybody must've partied up last night..nobody around!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am Mike East:

partying is no excuse. SmokinJ made it, and he's still goin'!
Avatar 9:52am SmokinJ:

And I got up at 3:30 CST and shoveled snow! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am Mike East:

I watched "Pusher 2" last week (same director as Drive, etc.). Thought it was excellent. Looking forward to checking out Pusher 3 next. (1 was also good)
  9:53am LovecraftDude888:

far out. looks to be more rain over here today...Pusher 2? Is that Refn also? had no idea. He's a very strange duck Refn but I loved DRIVE, not so much OGForgives
Avatar 9:54am glenn:

amp talk! more amp talk!
Avatar 9:56am glenn:

that's funny. i had love's made a fool of you going through my head at 5:30 this morning.
  9:56am LovecraftDude888:

ah ok he did a a whole trilogy of those..I have to see #1 then. I just know Drive and OGF so far. Ha, the amp action...I haven't even had time to play guitar recently...I will soon though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am dale:

tom rush was up here in the hudson valley a few years ago at a community college and i should have gone. 'driving wheel' is a fantastic song. 'a childs song' as well.
  9:58am LovecraftDude888:

I put Pusher #1 on order too...library here doesn't have it for some absurd reason they have every other film
  9:59am LovecraftDude888:

jeezus how many Miles Davis box sets are there?? good lord!
  9:59am scott:

great show bob. do you know the short films of ray and charles eames? elmer berstein wrote some nice music for these films. 'toccata for toy trains', 'powers of ten', and 'tops' are my favorites. try youtube
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am Mike East:

haven't seen OGF yet, but heard horrible things from reliable sources. Bronson is worth checking out. Valhalla Rising is interesting but requires some patience.
  10:01am LovecraftDude888:

OGF is not great...pretty awful really...it looks good, I like some of it, but mainly just not great. I wanted to love it...couldn't. Kristen S. Thomas though...wow she's scary! But not a good film really. oh well. yeah Bronson I have to see at some point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Santos L Halper:

I think Dr Jackle was a buddy of Miles' IIRC. Maybe even a dentist like his dad
  10:15am mike east:

@glenn no amps today, but I will be taking my first crack at Logic Pro
  10:19am Melinda:

Yo La Tengo!
Avatar 10:19am mauri:

what kind of music you guys do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am Santos L Halper:

Or maybe I dreamed that. Perhaps a Jackie McLean ref. No clue in my liner notes
  10:20am LovecraftDude888:

I might go buy that mini Vox night Train amp thing also...just for a portable solution I'm def gonna get one
  10:21am LovecraftDude888:

I used to use my Magix Samplitude Pro on here for tons of archiving and things...I haven't had to use it lately, but it's great
  10:24am LovecraftDude888:

I have Cakewalk Studio also...it's great but I just haven't been doing that much stuff with all that of late...was too busy moving and all that nonsense arghh
Avatar 10:26am mauri:

I've been using Reaper but havent really done much with it. Should do new songs but somehow haven't had any inspiration for it.
  10:29am mike east:

I'm working on recording some old songs of mine that never made it to tape. Also producing a friend of mine who writes amazingly honest songs.
  10:32am LovecraftDude888:

kewl! now it's snowing sleeting here...oh well
  10:36am LovecraftDude888:

OGF is pretty terrible
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am Mike East:

"existential viking movie" - Yes, and yes. I think you pronounced his name correctly, as well
Avatar 10:38am ottovonbqe:

I really can't get interested in ultra violence if that's all there is; I need some gratuitous sex in the mix.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am Santos L Halper:

@otto - don't forget the MilkPlus
  10:40am LovecraftDude888:

Killer Inside Me it's integral to the plot but it's just when you take a novel like that and show things that graphically, no art at all to it, it's unwatchable. Plus it's just badly done otherwise...and the sound mix was the worst I've heard in ages.
  10:45am LovecraftDude888:

My prime example is ALIEN...which had violence and gross outs but so brief,....quick quick cuts...and it's over. etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am Mike East:

another bad review of it: ecstatictext.blogspot.com...
  10:49am LovecraftDude888:

I think this review is pretty spot-on.
  10:52am Jesse:

Hi Bob you got the best show man. Im going to make a request . theres this song I heard on a Honiemooners episode, the huckel buck. I never herd it in its entirety. if you could play it in the future I would be greatfull. tanks , Jess
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Mike East:

my buddy writes that blog basically for me and about 5 other people. Him and the New Yorker are my main sources for movie reviews.
  10:56am LovecraftDude888:

looks like a good one
  10:57am LovecraftDude888:

I was doing film reviews for Film Forward.com for a couple of years but that guy doesn't pay writers...he was a bit deceiving so...I scrapped it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am Mike East:

long weekend...I wish
  10:58am LovecraftDude888:

anyway guys...gotta run for now...good chatting and great show Bob!! bit of a wet weekend it appears so far....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am Mike East:

stay dry, LCD888
  10:51am Wayne Guskind:

"many heist movies seem to be about heists that have gone wrong" - too funny!!! Love your show.
