Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Mike East:

Hey guys. I'm still on breakfast, but these grooves pair nicely with any meal.
Avatar 12:07pm Duane:

Hey Steve..bonjour Pierre!
Avatar 12:07pm kat330:

@Caryn: Found out this morning both Philo and me had dreams about Finland last night, so perhaps we were astral traveling to your time zone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm robyn:

morning all! i am losing my mind today and it's only been 2 hours since i left dreamland.
Avatar 12:08pm Cecile:

Duane, do you have any Heatwave floatin' around there.

The Creator has a master plan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Caryn:

@kat: nice! Well, next time, give an astral wave this way.
Avatar 12:09pm Cecile:

Louis Armstrong?!?!?!?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm tim from champaign:

No way! Is this Louis on the vocals?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm braveness23:

B23 here! Hello Duane. Hello WFMU whippersnappers. I've got ca recording of pharoah sanders doing The Creator Has a Master Plan
Avatar 12:10pm kat330:

@robyn: I was waiting to see you on a list again for these links. Put the Sargent on left screen and the Peasant Dance on the right, and that's one of our dining room walls. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Caryn:

Heh, that Leon Thomas yodel!
Avatar 12:11pm kat330:

"aww ovah the woild"
Avatar 12:12pm Cecile:

Pharoah and Leon Thomas wrote it, b23.
Avatar 12:12pm Cecile:

crazy shit.
Avatar 12:12pm Jshatan:

Howdy all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm braveness23:

gotcha, tx @Cecile
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm robyn:

hi kat! oh ok the peasant dance...i was thinking you were talking about the wedding feast. i hadn't seen that one before. that is really fantastic. i see what you mean about motion now.
Avatar 12:14pm Cecile:

A friend of mine said, "I'd like to love that song, but since I'm Jewish, I'm skeptical of anyone singing about a 'master plan'".
Avatar 12:15pm Cecile:

Is Lauren Newton on this voice choir thing? She used to be the champ of avant vocalizing.
Avatar 12:15pm kat330:

I misidentified it as that -- sorry. Forgot it was wrapping paper I had of the Wedding Feast, so my search was a tad longer because of my mistaken identity.
Yes, I look up at that wall any time I'm feeling too sedentary. Thankfully, Duane's an antidote to sitting for much of his show. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Caryn:

Now I feel like finding the version of "We Shall Overcome" that is on the Armstrong album, simply because I need to hear what a chorus made up of Armstrong, Tony Bennett, Miles Davis, Ruby Braff, Ornette Coleman, Eddie Condon, Bobby Hackett, Chico Hamilton and George Wein sounds like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm braveness23:

I have a master plan. I don't understand why your friend would have a problem with how I am rewiring my basement
Avatar 12:16pm Jennique:

Afternoon Duane and fellow Duaniacs.
Avatar 12:16pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

RIP Butch Morris
Avatar 12:17pm pierre:

@ Cecile : "master plans" sound weird. Why not just a "simple plan" ?… uuh, non that sucks as well.
Avatar 12:17pm Duane:

Afternoon, Jennique Cecile (Got a heatwave somewhere) Afternoon Jan, Jennique, braveness, robyn..who's got tea?
Avatar 12:17pm Cecile:

hahaha, b23.
I think he may have come to terms with the song and master plans by now.
Avatar 12:18pm Cecile:

do you mean "tea", Duane? or tea.
I have neither.
Avatar 12:20pm Sem Chumbo:

How about some nice fresh Moroccan mint tea, naturally with a fistful of sugar.?
Avatar 12:20pm Duane:

either one Cecile..hahahaha! got heatwave tho!
Avatar 12:21pm Cecile:

hey, anyone have good luck with turmeric/ginger tea for joint pain? I hate black tea, but if it made my knees feel better, I could choke it down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm braveness23:

@Sem, you had me at Moroccan mint tea but you lost me at sugar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Caryn:

No tea, but I am about to start cooking some dinner.
Avatar 12:21pm Cecile:

aw, cool, Duane!
(can you get it on before 2 cause I have a yukky meeting then...?)
Avatar 12:23pm Jshatan:

Speaking of RIP, shout out to Sugarfoot Bonner. Bootsy wants us all to show our love to this track: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 12:23pm Cecile:

aw, man, RIP Butch.
and Sugarfoot! :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm tim from champaign:

Ladada Leo Smith and Henry Grimes are playing respectively on 2/28 and 4/4 at the University of Illinois art museum. I can't wait! They will be playing in the main gallery which usually has awesome art. It's an incredible way to see/hear music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm tim from champaign:

Aw man, Sugarfoot? I love Ohio Players.
  12:27pm Lou:

skin tight show as usual Duane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm robyn:

i could take some tea.
Avatar 12:29pm Sem Chumbo:

@B23: an integral part of the mint tea experience is the sweetness, three or four French pastries and, of course, a pack of smokes.
Avatar 12:29pm Cecile:

damn they had a horn section.
  12:29pm KCH:

Repose en paix > SUGARFOOT & Butch Morris & Jef Lee Johnson ....SKIN TIGHT <3 !!!
Avatar 12:29pm Duane:

Thanx Lou.
Everybody Pour out a lil honey on a naked body for Sugarfoot and Ohio Players :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm braveness23:

I'll be happy to oblige!
Avatar 12:30pm Sem Chumbo:

Duane: just thinking of that cover.
Avatar 12:30pm kat330:

Oh, shoot, Honey Water just left.
Avatar 12:31pm Jshatan:

Gotta bounce for a conf. call - don't play anything too good for a while.
Avatar 12:31pm steve:

way ahead of you Duane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm tim from champaign:

Who's the drummer for Ohio Players? That guy has the best drum fills.
Avatar 12:33pm pierre:

Is the master plan to play some Heatwave, or do I get everything wrong in here?
Avatar 12:34pm Cecile:

I'm hoping it is, pierre!
Avatar 12:34pm Duane:

Cornelius Johnson tim!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm braveness23:

I think this Ohio Players song was recorded at a studio I used to work for
Avatar 12:35pm steve:

great song
Avatar 12:36pm Cecile:

69? Sugarfoot, Steve Lacy, Clarence Clemons, Sugarfoot?
It's a dangerous music age!

Sorry, no. It was the Everybody Up album. www.discogs.com...
  12:40pm Eli:

Good morning, all. Duane, do you remember my friend Al Digs, with the dreads? Butch was his dad.
Avatar 12:42pm Duane:

I remember Al!
Avatar 12:43pm Cecile:

wow, Kandia is a performer? I just read her music criticism...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm robyn:

i keep thinking she's saying "cargo pants."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm braveness23:

"She was rockin' the shitty cargo pants"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm robyn:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm robyn:

i was like, man, finally a song on duane's show that speaks to me.
Avatar 12:49pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:50pm Duane:

robyn: you gotta raver big cargo pants past I haven't heard about..LOL!
Avatar 12:51pm Sem Chumbo:

@Pierre: you're having your Heatwave.
Avatar 12:51pm Cecile:

thanks, duane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm tim from champaign:

The current midwest weather is a goddamn heatwave.
Avatar 12:54pm pierre:

Merci pour la Vague de Chaleur Duane !
Avatar 12:55pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:55pm pierre:

Avatar 12:55pm steve:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm tim from champaign:

Wish I was there, Cecile!
Avatar 12:56pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:56pm Cecile:

no you don't. noooooo.
Avatar 12:56pm Cecile:

Get out of my head, Duane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm braveness23:

Ohio Players kept it local. They recorded in Cincinnati Duane, you should do a 5th Floor Studio show. www.discogs.com...
  12:57pm paula pc:

PLEASE DO THAT DAYTON SHOW...it is a mind-blowing deal...then you throw in King Records to the south...this is not twaddle at all...
  12:57pm flobaler:

NJ has a thick thick ghost fog creepin' around.
  12:58pm KCH:

THANKS my brotha D for the airplay! & for putting "Rockin' the City with her Kongo Dance" in between the enigmatic Valerie Carter & Madeline Bell + my beloved Heatwave...Sugarfoot of Hamilton + DAYTON love! xx
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm robyn:

duane, i wish i did. i just had a pair of H&M cargo pants for the longest time that a friend of mine ragged on me for wearing. endlessly. and right after i threw them out it seemed like they came back into fashion for a hot second. what the hell.
Avatar 1:00pm Duane:

whoa Kandia...Didn't even know you were listening:) xo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm braveness23:

@KCH No way, that was you doing Congo Square aka "She was rockin' the shitty cargo pants"? Right on!
Avatar 1:02pm Cecile:

KCH, much respect, much respect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Caryn:

Mm, hot chicken and barley now in hand, I can fully focus on the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Caryn:

Bowing down, KCH.
Avatar 1:06pm Cecile:

Is this KYUSS?
Avatar 1:07pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm robyn:

@KCH yes sorry i am an idiot and thought you were singing cargo pants. i'll blame it on low volume and being totally out of it today.
Avatar 1:07pm Cecile:

  1:07pm paula pc:

nice nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm braveness23:

Certainly no disrespect intended. Freakin' awesome song!
Avatar 1:09pm Dave B:

This Kyuss/MJ is kinda badass!
Avatar 1:10pm Jennique:

Beavis & Butthead quote whilst watching Kyuss video, "Is he saying Sold My FUTON?"
Avatar 1:10pm Cecile:

not as badass as Kyuss. but still pretty brilliant.
Avatar 1:10pm steve:

its now official, every possible mashup has been made
Avatar 1:12pm kat330:

This melody is a Christmas song.
Avatar 1:12pm Droll:

Steve, I hope you're right. That's a great finish, too. I'm glad that fad is over. Next to die: Filter Sweep.
Avatar 1:12pm Cecile:

this sounds like some kind of weird Dutch pre-glam band.
Avatar 1:13pm kat330:

"O Come Little Children," aamof.
Avatar 1:14pm kat330:

Guess the tune wasn't under copyright, because it's note for note.
Avatar 1:14pm kat330:

And Tchaikovsky, too.
Avatar 1:15pm Duane:

kat330: It's German, so who knows?? I wish we had to sing this version in grade school!
Avatar 1:15pm steve:

sorry Droll... filter sweeps are just beginning, i can't say more but i am actively involved in the future of filter sweeps.
Avatar 1:16pm steve:

seriously, in the next year you're going to hear filters sweeping in ways you never even imagined
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm braveness23:

That reminds me, I need to get a new vacuume cleaner bag
Avatar 1:18pm pierre:

Françoooooiiiiiise !
Avatar 1:19pm Droll:

Steve, It's possible, dubstep is not Wah-Wah, there may still be legs on that animal. I'm willing to try to hold you to your claim. When can I expect a demo?
Avatar 1:19pm Jennique:

Is it me or does this sorta sound like Stairway to Heaven at times? It should be called "Escalier au ciel"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Caryn:

Franny baby!
Avatar 1:20pm pierre:

"ma cage est grande ouverte et ma prison t'attends" nice
Avatar 1:20pm kat330:

@Duane: Nice that Libido was asking everyone to come on, not just little children.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm robyn:

my cage is wide open and my prison awaits?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm PhinTheHyooman:

I actually like DMB's version of this song. I know, blasphemy...
Avatar 1:22pm kat330:

Awaits you, I believe.
Avatar 1:23pm steve:

Droll - just a few months! very exciting <rubs hands together devilishly>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm robyn:

oh, yeah. i am taking french classes. i don't know much but it's nice to know a little
Avatar 1:26pm kat330:

@robyn: It's kinda creepy in a "Girlfriend," "I'll Be Watchin' You" way. ;)
Avatar 1:29pm pierre:

This Is fantastic, it's becomming one of my favorite Prince track !
Avatar 1:29pm Droll:

Prince, The Artist Formerly Known as Tom Waits... How can one person....
Avatar 1:30pm Jennique:

Avatar 1:30pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

I've always liked this track. Putting aside the lyrics his piano is pretty damn cool
  1:31pm GNSLLR:

You go on, son.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm braveness23:

I love hearing the mechanical sounds of the piano. Nice
  1:31pm GNSLLR:

Jan and i used to duet this...back in the day...
Avatar 1:32pm kat330:

@Jan: Yes, it is! Instead of "the piano has been drinking," to make the Tom Waits ref again, I think Prince's piano has been doing cocaine. :)
Avatar 1:33pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

Hi Matt!
Avatar 1:33pm Cecile:

I think what's funny about this is that I believe Prince doesn't touch drugs or alcohol. Don't know where he stands on the demon bean, though.
Avatar 1:33pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

Yeah, Matt I remember, I took all the off key parts...
Avatar 1:33pm Duane:

Avatar 1:34pm jk:

killing it today, Duane
Avatar 1:35pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

  1:43pm Rontronik:

@Duane: Im drinking sweet tea in solidarity to my dude Sugar Foot
Avatar 1:44pm Duane:

Rontronik: I'm having a sweet sticky Crispy creme donut in solidarity myself,..nawmean?? Heh*Heh...
  1:46pm Rontronik:

@Duane: I do indeed... i do indeed
  1:47pm Eli:

I liked that Medlar cut
  1:54pm Grubbus:

I remember Paul Williams from a Fall Guy episode with Lee MAJORS or maybe it was a 6-Million dollar man? Great show as usual Duane. Paul Williams is a good ole fashioned drunk, but a hell of a songwriter!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Mike East:

new documentary out about him, Grubbus. He also made some appearances at screenings of Phantom of the Paradise recently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Caryn:

@Grubbus: heh, earlier today switched channels only to see Paul Williams talking about the evils of alcohol and drugs, and about how to keep your kids from becoming addicts...
Avatar 1:57pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

I agree on the crap mashup vs crap dubstep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Phin The Hyooman:

What the heck is "Crispy creme"? Is that a northern knock-off?
  1:58pm seang:

Prince has a new tune out right? called Screwdriver
  2:00pm GNSLLR:

You know i love the Manfred...well played, sir!
Avatar 2:02pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

Come a Little Closer is indeed an underrated album
Avatar 2:03pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

She did this album on leave from prison
Avatar 2:03pm Duane:

yeah..Screwdriver is out now, but i think there's another version coming as well seang
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Caryn:

I've never had a Krispy Kreme donut, but then again, I always think their glazed donuts look kinda creepy. The glaze is just iffy, IMO. Anyone ever have that hamburger they do with the Krispy Kreme donut as the bun?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm northguineahills:

An old school MBV, wasn't this on that Peace Together comp for the benefit of the youth of Northern Ireland?
Avatar 2:06pm Parq:

Looks like I missed a lot of good stuff, but glad to be here for this fine cover of a great, under-familiar Bond song.
Avatar 2:06pm Duane:

Krispy Kremes are so dangerous..on my 3rd one now
  2:06pm common:

wow! never heard this mbv
Avatar 2:06pm Duane:

yup ngh..it sure was
  2:06pm Rontronik:

@Caryn: that is a heart attack waiting to happen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm braveness23:

This is MBV???
Avatar 2:07pm glenn:

tim horton's will take krispy kreme out behind the woodshed and whup it's ass.
  2:07pm dinatekno:

WOW!!!! This is beautiful! Is it really MBV?! Must get regardless!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Caryn:

I maintain that "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is the best of the Bond movies. Or should I say old-school Bond movies (I have a hard time deciding where to rank the Craig ones).
Avatar 2:09pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

Skyfall is the best of the Craig ones, at least i think so...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm robyn:

seriously. that mbv was amazing.
Avatar 2:10pm Parq:

Can't speak to what disc Duane has there in front of him, but I have that MBV track on a fund-raiser comp called "Peace Together" from the 90s. Also includes a wonderfully bizzare deconstruction of "Games Without Frontiers", by Pop Will Eat Itself, yet.
  2:11pm dinatekno:

Found where the MBV song is from a compilation called "Peace Together". Profits raised went to the children of Northern Ireland.
Avatar 2:11pm Droll:

Hard to imagine a need for crap mashups and dubstep in a world with MBV.
Someone on one of these comment boards said a new MBV should be released soon... today in fact! I'm not finding it for sale online yet.
  2:12pm Eli:

you just shot me back in time with that Bibio cut. I remember DImitri from Paris sampled that same killer Fender Rhodes riff. Such a great sample.
Avatar 2:13pm Jshatan:

Casino Royale is damned good - and it was so satisfying to see that story properly filmed.
Avatar 2:13pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

But Skyfall was better as a total film
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Joe Duffy:

Bahamadia baby
  2:15pm Eli:

Maybe it wasn't Dimitri. Hmmm. Some late '90s record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm tim from champaign:

Claude Young!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Caryn:

I'm on the fence about which I prefer - CR or Skyfall. I think CR is let down by the fact that I don't care for Eva Green as Vesper.
Avatar 2:16pm Duane:

Eli: Yeah I remember that cut.It was DJ Cam tho. that was smokin. Joe DUffy: I'd buy an album of BAhamadia rhyme the Wall Street journal ovr Premo beats, just for that voice!
Avatar 2:17pm kat330:

@Joe: Quite enjoy Gary tha squirrel.
  2:17pm Rontronik:

Claude Young is underappreciated
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Ike:

@Droll, I'll believe new MBV when I hear it and not a single freaking second before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Joe D:

Gary keeps it real!!!
Avatar 2:18pm Duane:

"SKyfall"..was amazing i thought..might've been my fave since "View to a Kill"..I know, I know..i have soft spot for that one..the only Roger Moore 007 i liked
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Caryn:

Ok, I've decided that Skyfall is now no. 6 in my top 8 of Bond films. CR is no. 8.
  2:21pm Eli:

This is dope
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm braveness23:

I had a track on a MBV tribute album in the 90's. Not sure if the album was released or died on the vine. Covered 'Don't Ask Why'
Avatar 2:22pm Duane:

Casin ROyale was good..but I definitely preferred Skyfall...Javier Bardem was a great villain!
Avatar 2:23pm Duane:

oh yeah braveness22?? That's a great song. Have a nice acoustic cover version of that
  2:24pm Eli:

This Devin Dare guy is pretty good ;)
Avatar 2:24pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

Nice remix, gotta love that Devin Dare...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Caryn:

BTW, Duane, liking the new profile pic!
Avatar 2:25pm kat330:

@Caryn: Yes, moi aussi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Caryn:

Actually, CR is no. 7 in the top 8. Weirdly, even though Moore is only my 4th favourite Bond, he has the most movies in the top 8.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Caryn:

Now, the more important question for WFMU is: what is the best Bond theme track?
Avatar 2:28pm Jennique:

Just walked back into my office and OMG! CHIPS!!!!
  2:28pm common:

Avatar 2:28pm Duane:

yeah that Devin Dare's going places :)
Thank you Caryn & kat330..now stop it!
  2:28pm GNSLLR:

View to a Kill.
Avatar 2:29pm glenn:

i like the old classics like goldfinger or moonraker, but teri hatcher is my fave bond girl.
Avatar 2:30pm Jennique:

Duane, did some illos for myself of Skyfall. Check it:

Oh and J.Bond theme song: GOLDFINGER!! Come on!
Avatar 2:30pm Duane:

Best Bond theme?? "Diamonds are forever" kids! Hands down!!
Avatar 2:31pm kat330:

@Duane: Well, I notice you've lost your sexy self-conscious giggle, so the photo has to do. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm braveness23:

@Duane, Neato Torpedo - Don't Ask Why (My Bloody Valentine cover) soundcloud.com...
Avatar 2:31pm Jennique:

If Shirley Bassey sang it, it had to be good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm robyn:

diamonds are forever is wonderful but maybe disqualified because it is also in the running for best song, period.
Avatar 2:33pm kat330:

@Jennique and Duane: Wow -- super mollusk work!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Caryn:

I love so many Bond themes that it's pretty impossible to pick one, but I think most days I'll have to say it's either the instrumental OHMSS track or "Moonraker". And as a side note, I have to say I prefer kd lang's end credits song to Cheryl Crow's official theme song in "The World is Not Enough".
Avatar 2:34pm Parq:

Senator Frankin!

Avatar 2:35pm kat330:

I lean to "Goldfinger" myself, but I think it had the biggest impact the age I was when I saw it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Caryn:

Any opinions on whether the Shirley Bassey or the Dionne Warwick version of "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" is better?
Avatar 2:36pm steve:

dont all articles of clothing usually reside in a bedroom??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Caryn:

Yay, SCTV! My love knows no bounds...
  2:36pm paula pc:

thanks for just letting this run, Duane...
Avatar 2:36pm steve:

well aside from a coat i guess
Avatar 2:37pm Jennique:

I have lip-synched Goldfinger in the mirror so many times that almost believe I sang it originally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Nick the Bard:

You can wear a chest of drawers...
  2:39pm Grubbus:

@Caryn: yeah, I watched him singing "rainbow connection" on YOGABBA GABBA with my kids and that's why i watch tv with my kids-ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm PhinTheHyooman:

  2:40pm Andres:

Another example of a classic SCTV skit influencing SNL. The "pick a number line" was straight up lifted into the Jeopardy parodies.
Avatar 2:40pm Parq:

The contestants on this Halfwits show are now the governing board of the Tea Party.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm braveness23:

heh... @Parq
Avatar 2:41pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

LOL! Parq
Avatar 2:41pm Duane:

Parq:*rimshot* OH!!!
Avatar 2:42pm kat330:

Catherine O'Hara is one of my fave *actors* period. I'd love to see her in very serious drama, because I think she could knock it out of the park as she does comedy.
Avatar 2:42pm glenn:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm G:

We're so sorry, but haven't done a bloody thing all day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Caryn:

Sounds about right, Parq.
Avatar 2:43pm glenn:

don't let irwin hear you say that, parq.
Avatar 2:44pm glenn:

and mary margaret o'hara made one of the best records ever.
Avatar 2:45pm Duane:

O those sexy O'hara sisters...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm G:

we're so sorry, uncle jude
Avatar 2:45pm Jshatan:

That may be an insult to the Halfwits.
  2:46pm Denise in DC:

I heart Foster Sylvers!
Avatar 2:46pm Denise in DC:

And I forgot to sign in, so that last comment had no avatar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Mike East:

hmmm....I didn't hear the Admiral Halsey bit, just the Uncle Albert bit. I think they named that track wrong.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Caryn:

Catherine O'Hara is fabulous. She has done some dramatic work too, but definitely less than her comic stuff. For instance, she was great on "Six Feet Under" and "Temple Grandin".
  2:47pm KCH:

Foster Sylvers...you go boy!
Avatar 2:47pm Duane:

Caryn; Dionne's version of Mr. Kiss Kiss..hands down. That was 3rd round TKO for Ms. Warwick in that battle..HAHA
  2:48pm Eli:

This Wild Nothing has proven to be a great 'night out in LA' driving album. The nights are better if you watch 'Modern Girls' before you go out. Who knows, maybe you'll even run into Bruno X!
  2:49pm paula pc:

I still forget this isn't OMD when I hear it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm robyn:

i was just thinking i've liked all the wild nothing duane has played. guess i should check them out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Caryn:

@Paula: that's what it reminds me of! That was bugging me.
Avatar 2:50pm Liz Berg:

Moonraker by Ms. Bassey!!
Avatar 2:50pm kat330:

@Caryn: Didn't see any "Six.." but did see "TG" -- but I'd like to see her carry a dramatic piece. I'll never forget her spoof of Bergman's "Persona" -- classic!
Avatar 2:51pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

Robyn, it's a nice album, well worth checking out
Avatar 2:51pm kat330:

Ooops, how does Liz have your avatar, Duane??
Avatar 2:52pm Duane:

Wild Nothing have some great albums..live not so compelling unfortunately
  2:52pm paula pc:

@Caryn - it bugged me at first too, because when I first heard this I said, why don't I remember this OMD song...
  2:52pm paula pc:

A SUPER-FAVORITE how does Duane do it
Avatar 2:52pm Duane:

Liz walked in and I asked her opinion on the matter and she put in her nickels & dimes :)
Swag For Life Member 2:53pm phat:

Ah, Sun Ra
Swag For Life Member 2:53pm phat:

I just recently discovered Saturn Records old location in Chicago. I'll be visiting this summer.
Avatar 2:53pm kat330:

@Duane: Ah. And also, yes, ah, Sun Ra.
  2:54pm Gil:

and Sun Ra's on the moon, too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Andrew Waterloo:

Did Sun Ra ever make a kids album? Seems like a compilation could pass as one.
Avatar 2:56pm glenn:

google says no.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Caryn:

@kat: yeah, her dramatic work tends to be all supporting stuff, but you might want to check out "The Life Before This". Not a particularly memorable movie, but Catherine has a nice, major dramatic role in it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm northguineahills:

This has been an awesome set, Duane!
Avatar 2:57pm Jan Audun Uretsky:

Yet another great show Duane... So thank you!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm braveness23:

@Duane, such a good show! Thanks for making it a great afternoon!
Avatar 2:58pm kat330:

Perfect wind up, Duane! Thanks for today's uplift. Bye, people!
Avatar 2:58pm Michael:

Sun Ra is on the Stay Awake comp of Disney Tunes doing Pink Elephants on parade. My daughter loved it!
Avatar 2:59pm steve:

well this is charming, thanks for the good vibes today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm rrg:

Hey. Duane's playing Butterbeans and Susie.
  2:59pm paula pc:

THANK YOU DUANE...what a wonderful show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Caryn:

@kat: oh, and she was good in that Stephen King-penned "Outer Limits" episode she was in. Though that had a streak of black comedy in it, so maybe I shouldn't consider that a dramatic turn...
  3:00pm Eli:

Thanks, Duane! Always makes my Wednesday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Caryn:

Great show, Duane! Nice tributes to fallen faves.
