The program formerly known as Seven Second Delay, and The Happiness Hut. Ken and Andy, also known as The Enema Boys, further lower WFMU's already abysmal standards on a weekly basis. Stunt radio which subjects the radio audience to concepts and topics which mature adults should not have to endure. Find the fatal flaw. (Visit homepage.)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Matt from Springfield:

Oooh, classic encore episode.

Hi kat and Delayers!
Avatar 6:04pm kat330:

Oh, shucks. :/ Guess we'd have known if we'd been listening earlier.

Get well, Andy!! Can't wait for the busker ep!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Matt from Springfield:

The "Bring Out Yer Deaddddd!" chorus is parading through Madison right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Ken:

Hi everybody! Andy really did want to come in tonight but I said no fucking way.
Avatar 6:05pm glenn:

plague? more like he doesn't have a profile or an avatar yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Matt from Springfield:

Don't let him off easy Ken, Detention is only punishment if you're healthy and well :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Caryn:

Since so many of these reruns have turned out to be awesome, I am quietly hopeful about this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm cklequ:

He still hasn't recovered from James Taylor's inaugural performance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Karen in Sleepy Hollow:

Really? Another rerun? Damn cooties! Ken, you could do it alone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Profile or avatar?? Andy'd have to leave a comment (or look at the website) first! :)
Avatar 6:07pm kat330:

So did he describe the buboes in his armpits in great detail, Ken?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Were assault weapons banned at the time?
Avatar 6:08pm northguineahills:

Philo, the culinary wiki link you provided in Bethany's comments section, minutes before the end, was truncated to just the letter "M".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Ken:

Yeah, dont get your hopes up on Andy creating an account here....
Avatar 6:08pm kat330:

Karen and Caryn, yay!
Avatar 6:09pm Philo Gristle:

That is a sweet photo in the Comments to the left.
Avatar 6:10pm northguineahills:

Ah, arigato!

I love topical news humor. (it's sad I know exactly when this air based on the commentary [never heard this episode before])
Avatar 6:11pm hamburger:

@Matt, no, it's a william hundley photo :D
Avatar 6:12pm glenn:

n.g.h., you don't have to go to finland for tasty finnish dishes. www.finlandiaclub.ca
Avatar 6:13pm northguineahills:

yar, I guess Mämmi wouldn't be to sweet (sugar also hates me). I love how the Finns and Scandinavians really like to add Birch to deserts and alcohol. (it's fine in small doses.)
Avatar 6:13pm kat330:

Did Andy describe anything like this: dermatology.about.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Matt from Springfield:

Something worth seeing in Thunder Bay! Thanks glenn!
Avatar 6:16pm Philo Gristle:

@ngh Used to tap birch trees as kids and drink the sap. Tasty.
Avatar 6:16pm northguineahills:

@glenn, I'm afraid Thunder Bay is not w/in my normal travel itinerary, for this year. I will look up nyc restaurateurs. (also looking for more Burmese places as well as Finnish)
Avatar 6:16pm glenn:

i love t.bay. except today, maybe, since it's probably about -40 celsius.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Matt from Springfield:

Bobby Moynihan's "Second Hand News" character made an appearance last weekend on SNL.
Avatar 6:17pm Philo Gristle:

@Caryn Kat said you'd mentioned John From Cincinnati.... worth a look? Always liked Kem Nunn & his existential brand of surfer noir...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

@NGH: Burmese restaurants...plenty of Thai places in this area, not sure if Burmese establishments are around. I *did* however find a good Indonesian place in Alexandria! Best satay I've had (in fact I think it originated from modern Indonesia).
Avatar 6:19pm hamburger:

How old is this re-run? Andy's voice sounds a lot less grittle.
Avatar 6:19pm Danne D:

Hiya :) This whole avatar thing is interesting in that the avatar might not match the visual impression you have of the commenter
Avatar 6:20pm Danne D:

Sorry to hear that Andy's on his deathbed :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Matt from Springfield:

As to "how long is this ALBUM", Rumours is relatively short for a mainstream rock album of that time. 39m03s.

Killin' 'em, Andy! With your not so softly voice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Matt from Springfield:

Bass guitar hook from John McVie coming up here!! :)
Avatar 6:21pm northguineahills:

Always heard Thunder Bay is the trailer park of Ontario, but w/ Manitoba next door, and Saskatchewan over yonder, i'd suppose it's like South Jersey Pine Barrens to the Appalachia where I was born, and FL where I grew up.
Avatar 6:21pm Philo Gristle:

Finnish cuisine of my youth was mashed potatoes and meatballs. Though mom used to make a dish called bird's nest, which was ground beef surrounding a boiled egg wrapped in bacon. And potato salad with chunks of edam cheese and apples.
Avatar 6:21pm glenn:

philo, you could join this friendship society as well. www.finlandiaclub.ca...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Matt from Springfield:

Hear that!! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Caryn:

@PG: well, I think it is. Excellent acting, plenty of bizarreness, wry humour,... Even if the very end is kinda blah. But all the way to the very end, I'd say yes. Of course, it is a series that is bound to divide opinions (except for the Joe Strummer music, which I think everyone universally loves).
Avatar 6:22pm kat330:

Ooh, Burmese. Had a restless night last night wracking my brain to think of Mission of Burma's "That's When I Reach..." because Jason Sigal had played a Black Future track yesterday afternoon with a reminiscent bass line (I finally posted to his archive about it).
Avatar 6:22pm glenn:

bird's nest is basically finnish scotch egg.
Avatar 6:22pm Philo Gristle:

@glenn Thanks, I'll take a closer look!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Matt from Springfield:

@Philo: Birds nest! Proteinastic!
Avatar 6:23pm kat330:

Hey, Danne! Haven't seen you on the same comments list since avatars were unveiled!
Avatar 6:24pm northguineahills:

Daggnabbit, I'm hungry now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Matt from Springfield:

"Never Going Back Again"--came from its instrumental demo, titled "Brushes".
Avatar 6:25pm Philo Gristle:

@Caryn Thanks! The fact that it was canceled only bothers me in that the ending might be... not an ending. But then again, I love the idea of the Sopranos' ending (never saw an episode). But surfing and astral travel...? Sign me up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Scotch egg would make a good Southern (U.S.) breakfast--perhaps even with sausage gravy on top.
Avatar 6:26pm Philo Gristle:

@Matt Even Atkins might overdose on it. We had it only once a year for easter.
Avatar 6:28pm Philo Gristle:

@Glenn Ah-a! Makes it (perhaps) easier to explain in the future. Thanks!
Avatar 6:28pm hamburger:

still somewhat scarred from seeing Andy as the puberty fairy last week
Avatar 6:29pm Danne D:

Beatle Barkers. Awesome :)
Avatar 6:29pm northguineahills:

Would it be wrong to attempt a veggie scotch egg? (using Trader Joe's veggie chorizo).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm anne:

i love the contradiction of being on the air and being put on hold
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

"Why am I on the Air?" the permanent question, never to be answered here.. :)
Beatle Barkers!! I would actually LOVE that as hold music! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Caryn:

@PG: I think it's also a series that you notice new things about every time you see it. Like repeated lines, images, and moves. Rewatch it about 4-6 times a year. The ending clearly ends the story being told, so no worries there. There were just things about the end that made me consider it a letdown in comparison to the rest of the series.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Ken:

Hey everybody, I hear tell that somebody made a Hitler Remix of Andy's movie Rat Race. Can anybody locate it?
  6:29pm sundogmoonbow:

Ha! Those Korean FTA protestors are rooting for Ken and Andy! Too funny!
Avatar 6:30pm glenn:

n.g.h, i would use a lentil or maybe a tempeh patty.
Avatar 6:30pm kat330:

@Philo: I think "protein" takes a backseat to "cholester-ALL" in the bird's nest dish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Caryn:

@Ken: didn't someone post a link on your show's comments board?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm cklequ:

Avatar 6:31pm Bad Ronald:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Matt from Springfield:

@NGH: You would still need to have a high fat alternative, as that seems to be the point.
Avatar 6:32pm Philo Gristle:

@ngh In principle, yes, but in practice.... sounds delicious!
Avatar 6:32pm Bad Ronald:

This episode is brilliant btw...
Avatar 6:32pm Danne D:

Amazing that she lasted 2:56
Avatar 6:32pm kat330:

@glenn: Or black beans?
Avatar 6:32pm trish:

Star favourite this song, Beatle Barkers
Avatar 6:33pm Danne D:

"It's an Eagles song sung by Linda Rondstadt" LOL
Avatar 6:33pm northguineahills:

I'm not a veggie, but plenty of my friends are veggies. . I like to cook for all culinary restrictions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Matt from Springfield:

Play one Linda Ronstadt's songs that she wrote ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Ken:

Thanks cklequ and Bad Ronald - Caryn true but I was too lazy to go back and find the link.
Avatar 6:34pm glenn:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Matt from Springfield:

That's a VERBOTEN co-wroten!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Caryn:

@Danne: that is indeed the best line of the show so far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm Matt from Springfield:

Oooh! Play that tape cue again!
Avatar 6:34pm Philo Gristle:

@Caryn Sounds better and better, though I'm so far behind watching classic movies (not to mention new ones, which mostly suck) that I could never watch a tv show more than once a decade! Took 20 years to get back to Prisoner, but it WAS worth it.
Avatar 6:35pm Danne D:

Not quite a remix, but this is still funny:
Avatar 6:35pm hamburger:

If you didn't 'know' who Andy Breckman was, that photo on the playlist, and Andy's radio 'personality' couldn't contrast any more!
Avatar 6:35pm Bad Ronald:

...I tried to post it on his facebook page but he blocked me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Listener zero:

Was the question already discussed what James Taylor's inaugural performance means for Andy Breckman's position in the American political spectrum?
Avatar 6:36pm northguineahills:

I need to venture out my culinary safe zone (cooking-wise), pescetarian east Asian and various Mexican cuisines.
Avatar 6:36pm glenn:

if it doesn't work out, you can scrape the goop off and still have a hard boiled egg.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Caryn:

@PG: ever see the David Lynch sitcom, "On the Air"? I'd definitely recommend that, especially for Miguel Ferrer's performance. "She's not a dim bulb, she's a blown out fuse."
Avatar 6:38pm northguineahills:

"click for the full size image", no thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Matt from Springfield:

@L0: Gwen Ifill and Jim Lehrer will be discussing that @7.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm Matt from Springfield:

The Clown Hospital! :D
Avatar 6:40pm kat330:

I have now served tonight's entree, which is eggplant in marinara sauce over rotini. So even though not vegan, we are going totally veggie tonight.
Avatar 6:40pm Philo Gristle:

@Caryn I saw "On the Air" when it aired, but not since. I remember being vaguely disappointed, no idea what I'd think of it today.
Avatar 6:41pm Bad Ronald:

blogfiles.wfmu.org... - begging to be photoshopped.
Avatar 6:41pm other david:

I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but this is gold.
Avatar 6:41pm hamburger:

www.flickr.com... "Let's listen to the radio!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Matt from Springfield:

Why?? BECAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A shame, that's one of my very very favoritest Deep Cuts of all time. I'm sure many of you listen to "Here Comes The Sun" and hope "Because" follows it!
Avatar 6:43pm Dan B From Upstate:

Now I see why Andy doesn't post on the comments board. 176+10=179?
Avatar 6:44pm kat330:

@Matt: To answer your earlier question "depending on what else you'd use the YLT tix money on" (or words to that effect): Just saw footage of the Sandy victims suffering through this bitter cold weather still in tents. :/ THAT would be one use of budget funds.
  6:45pm "Act Three" Reveal:

Andy is in fact 100% healthy. It's his career that was too sick to be at the station. No one wanted to risk exposing the staff to *those* cooties!
Avatar 6:45pm hamburger:

this reminds me of that 7SD episode where Andy & Ken take turns to keep a person on the line using only 1 minute (?) of speech, whilst the other tries to make them hang up...
Avatar 6:47pm Philo Gristle:

Despite the undeniable fact that chopped up eggplant in marinara LOOKS like mushrooms, I'm delighted to report it tastes nothing like it. Yum.
Avatar 6:47pm kat330:

I think we have a winner for Andy's avatar image there #3 down to the left.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat: I can live with someone else seeing a YLT show instead of donating to relief. But could YOU yourself? Once again, referred back to you on the basis of your own feelings and morals, no one else can determine that.

On the other hand, what's the charity? I could donate on your behalf :)
Avatar 6:49pm hamburger:

could we get andy into the wfmu friendship society if ALL our avatar's were that message??
Avatar 6:50pm kat330:

Perhaps the *worst* disagreement Philo and I have culinary-wise is mushrooms. I absolutely LOVE them, and he absolutely LOATHES them. I've had to compromise.
Avatar 6:50pm hamburger:

*by message I meant image
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Matt from Springfield:

@hamburger: Hell-o?! Andy would have to go on this website first!! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Caryn:

@PG & kat: given that I love mushrooms and loathe eggplant, I suspect Philo and I would have very different reactions to that dish.
Avatar 6:52pm Philo Gristle:

And licorice. Come on, who doesn't LOVE licorice?? Especially the salty kind.... :)
Avatar 6:52pm kat330:

Oh, Matt, you are now trending BEYOND mensch-hood! You need to reign it in before you wind up canonized: St. Matthew of Springfield! :) Nah, we'll weigh all pros and cons and make the best decision we're capable of by Tues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Caryn:

Love licorice, but only like a few kinds of salty licorice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Matt from Springfield:

I like mushrooms and eggplant, probably mushrooms a little more.
Avatar 6:53pm kat330:

Fortunately there are few recipes calling for salmiakki.
Avatar 6:54pm hamburger:

@Matt: That is true. What a lost cause to accept.

@Caryn: Seriously? Eggplant? Mushrooms and Eggplant are the meatiest of the vegetable world!
Avatar 6:55pm glenn:

i love mushrooms, and i'm allergic to eggplant. problem solved.
Avatar 6:55pm kat330:

@hamburger: Exactly! I keep telling Philo we COULD go vegetarian if only he'd eat mushrooms. I mean, they're like eating, um, hamburger!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat: 'sno problem at all! :) There are very many charities worthy of time, money and service, more than the typical individual could contribute alone. I'd be happy to focus one of my donations towards that, if it gave you the sense that you're not leaving people behind.

So as I said, consider carefully on this never-ending philosophy exam :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Caryn:

@hamburger: the only place that have made eggplant that I've liked is a tiny restaurant in the middle of Crete. Otherwise: yecch. Likewise: pumpkin, squash, olives, capers, chili and zucchini.
Avatar 6:57pm Philo Gristle:

I like mushrooms, wouldn't mind picking & hunting them, photographing them or painting them, but something about the taste hits a deeply false chord. Tried fresh and sauteed. Same yechh results.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm Matt from Springfield:

Have a good night, 7SD crew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm Caryn:

@kat & PG: yeah, my love of Mexican food is greatly hindered by the fact that chili and avocados are a no-no. Luckily, plenty of fruits and vegetables I do like, so many of my staple dishes are vegetarian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm chaoserene:

wow I clearly need to finally delve further into the history of 7SD.. this was an amazing treat, despite the newer episodes being well around par!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm chaoserene:

just kidding love the show can't believe I got through
Avatar 9:03am kat330:

Thanks to all for that hilarious YouTube link! So glad the Hitler watching Rat Race parody did not REIN it in (correcting my error to Matt earlier :) !

Hey, This is one of the funniest 7SDs I have heard. It was cracking me up--the music playing, knowing that one lady was holding. Hilarious.
