  3:03pm DCE:

hey hey hey Scott
Avatar 3:03pm Danne D:

Comment comment comment. Brave New World of Math-free comments. Hiya Scott. Actually won't be very present here but figured I'd say hi.
  3:04pm Matt from Springfield:

I guess "Big Al's Waltz" was the preceeding? That was nice.

Hey Scott and everyone!
  3:05pm Dave B:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Scott W:

Ahhhh, welcome Friendship Society!
  3:06pm Carmichael:

Hiya Scott, hey all y'all.
  3:06pm BSI:

Oh hellfire bananas, Scott, what I've heard of this Peru compilation is such inconceivable goodness...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Scott W:

MFS, you are correct sir: that waltzy 3/4 time thing, that was Big Al's Waltz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Scott W:

BSI, what it is!
  3:08pm pa john:

looks like we're off to a good start here...
  3:08pm Carmichael:

This sounds like Agent Cooper in the red room.
  3:08pm DCE:

does I hear toilet?
  3:09pm Matt from Springfield:

I like modest little waltzes. They're always presented as something grand and orchestral nowadays, but I find joy in low-key little ones, that can be improv-ed and played on guitar.
  3:10pm Matt from Springfield:

@BSI: That last one was particularly Avan-guard.
  3:11pm BSI:

I forget who's show it was, a couple of months ago, played several cuts from that Pogus comp (SW?) but it blew my brains out. Kablooey.
  3:12pm pierre:

@Danne D & Matt : thznks for the inputs on the shows.
  3:13pm Cheri Pi:

Brutal beginnings...

  3:17pm pierre:

It's so glad to hear from all of you guys
(yeah during the "holidays" I had this little absence, but back with ears open)
  3:18pm Matt from Springfield:

And hey "CP"!
  3:18pm Braveness23:

B23 here!
  3:19pm Matt from Springfield:

Reworking your moniker a bit, dc pa tjohn?
  3:21pm DCE:

is everybody enjoying 2013? nobody I know seems to be!
  3:22pm Cheri Pi:

What's shaking PaJohn! hey B23!
  3:22pm Braveness23:

Happy as a clam!
  3:22pm BSI:

@DCE: For me, 2013 still has the stink of 2012 on it. Need to hang it out the window and beat the hell out of it like a filthy carpet.
  3:23pm pierre:

@pa john : new year, new name ?

@DCE : whereas it's a new year, or an old one, I tend to have no opinion. But if something good shows up, I'll let you know :)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Parq:

Okay, that was a cool old-world track, but now I have to go look up "educed".
  3:25pm Andrew Waterloo:

Well.. so far 2013 has produced one very enjoyable weekend. Looking forward to the rest.
  3:25pm Dave B:

It's one better, isn't it?
  3:25pm Matt from Springfield:

@DCE: Not "having a party with 2013" enjoying yet, but it does feel so very good to put 2012 behind me.
Avatar 3:26pm kat330:

Hello, Scott, and hello, folks!
  3:26pm DCE:

haha, that's the proper spirit!
  3:26pm Cheri Pi:

Do you have a stalker Pa john??
  3:26pm Andrew Waterloo:

2012 had some unrequited hope. Lessons have been learned and the prospects are better for 2013.
Avatar 3:27pm kat330:

@Matt: Missed you over on DO! Ships passing in the day this week?
  3:27pm pierre:

oh yes, sorry, 2013 started good for me as well
Avatar 3:31pm kat330:

@Danne: Isn't the new no-math sum-thing else? Didn't get around to trying it until last Friday, but it is certainly one good thing about 2013.
  3:33pm pa john:

no nothing like that--DJ Keili hepped me to the fact that you can "choose anything you want" for your WFMU comments handle so I decided to go wild...not sure it's working out though...
  3:33pm Matt from Springfield:

'Lo kat! I was enjoying a rare afternoon fill-in from Keili today!

Will *our* ships pass this week you mean? I'm sure of it!
  3:34pm Matt from Springfield:

Shaking Surinamese! Wonder if this language is Papiamento?
  3:36pm glenn:

no math? i still have to do math in comments.
  3:37pm pa john:

yeah me too glenn, I don't know what the fekk they're talking about.
Avatar 3:37pm kat330:

@glenn: I believe the beta testing will be over soonish. It's been perfect AFAIK -- thanks, Ken and Kenzo!
Avatar 3:38pm kat330:

I wouldn't have brought it up 'cept I saw Danne discussing it earlier and figured everyone would ask him or already knew about it.
  3:39pm Mike East:

we can still give each other math quizzes over the comments. What's 671+3?
  3:40pm Braveness23:

OMG, is that Liberace playing Chopin?
  3:41pm Matt from Springfield:

675! Oops, hit the wrong button again! Yes, retry. 334+4? Whaddafxup wid that! Now I gotta think all over again...
  3:41pm northguineahills:

Well, it's not proper Dutch, so it must be Sranan Tongo, as Papiamento is mostly spoken in Aruba, Curacao, and the former Netherlands Antilles.
Avatar 3:41pm kat330:

@Mike: Heh! Actually, I still hesitate when I get to preview. I'm sure the math was keeping my mind sharper, so I'll probably go back and forth, depending on whether it's a fast and furious list or a more mellow scene.
  3:44pm glenn:

don't forget.. 2013 is the product of three primes.
  3:44pm amEdeo:

My eyes!!! Hallo Scott
  3:44pm Matt from Springfield:

"If I Were a Bell" :)
  3:45pm Mike East:

can't you guys just have the mini record fair at my apartment? I'm not comfortable bringing my baby all the way out to Brooklyn just yet.
  3:46pm glenn:

3 61 and 11, coincidentally, mike east. (11 x 61 = 671)
Avatar 3:46pm kat330:

Yes, primo, Glenn, and thanks again for that pinup vs. cat link on Saturday. I still say the facial expressions ruin the comparison.
  3:47pm pierre:

Oh and @BSI and @Scott, my 2013 starts also with a "Jambe de Bois" beer, have you heard/tasted it before?
  3:47pm Matt from Springfield:

Thanks NGH.
Avatar 3:47pm Danne D:

@Kat I have to say the efficiencies of the new mathless world came in handy late in Keili's show for me :)
Avatar 3:49pm Danne D:

while mathless I don't think the board will be methless...
  3:50pm Dave B:

Is this new mathless comment thing an invite only party?
  3:51pm Cheri Pi:

No Dave B, it's in beta testing phase and will be unleashed soon...
  3:52pm DCE:

ever notice how the math never takes you into the next group of ten? like you never get 678+5? cuz those are MUCH harder problems.
  3:52pm Dave B:

And as heard Saturday Night / Sunday Morning: Double-ewe Meth Emm Ewe!
  3:53pm DCE:

jalapeno pretzel nuggets...kind of addictive and repulsive at the same time.
  3:53pm Braveness23:

Cherri, when you say 'beta testing' it makes you sound all smart-like

Full disclosure, I was just reading on Suriname a month ago after getting into a tangent from the Caribbean Cup to the Surinamese soccer team to Suriname itself. Did nearly likewise two months ago when I was curious of the present sovereignty issues of the former Netherlands Antilles (and then to their respective soccer teams).
  3:56pm Adam:

OMG - is this Japanese? It's fuggin' beautiful stuff.
Avatar 3:56pm kat330:

Scott, isn't this Finnish?
  3:58pm Andrew Waterloo:

It beguiles me that I can call in sick, but I can't call in weather-too-nice.
  3:58pm Adam:

Ah, I see. Ektro is Circle's label...yep, Finnish. This is incredible.
  3:58pm Matt from Springfield:

@NGH: So who has national soccer teams, of the former Netherlands Antilles? Aruba probably had one already and Curacao prob has one now.
  3:58pm amEdeo:

What the heck, that's the second time in a week that the iPhone application has chopped off a piece of my text. Hello everyone!
  3:59pm BSI:

Ears perked up at the slow phasing FX, looked at playlist & saw Ektro, (Adam beat me to it).... all makes sense. Yummy sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat: I'd say Finnish--if not that, Estonian.

  4:04pm Andrew Waterloo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Scott W:

True nuff it's a killer, Stan Man!
  4:07pm northguineahills:

Boniare, Sint Maaten in addition to the ones you mentioned, as the other entities of the former Netherlands Antilles voted to become an integral part of the Netherlands, while the aforementioned four have autonomy w/in a union w/ the Netherlands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Matt from Springfield:

@amEdeo: I have some in Virginia! I'll spray it on an Acela Express passing through, and you can pick it up at Penn Station!
Avatar 4:10pm amEdeo:

@Matt: Excellent idea, I'll head there immediately! Should be able to catch it on time.
  4:11pm northguineahills:

(that should read Sint Maarten).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Parq:

Digging this Blake Fleming already.
  4:13pm BSI:

likewise digging.
Avatar 4:13pm kat330:

Giving the drummer some, all right.
Avatar 4:14pm amEdeo:

@Matt: Time to put all those "if a train leaves the station at a steady pace of X mph, and amEdeo leaves his house Y miles away traveling Z mph, how long will it take them to meet?" questions I had to do in grade school to use.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Matt from Springfield:

@amEdeo: Hope the train isn't delayed in the Northeast Corridor...

@NGH: Yes, Bonaire's in the so-called "Caribbean Netherlands", along with Sint Eustatius and Saba, which are probably too small to field their own team. "Constituent nations" Aruba, Curacao and Sint Maarten all have enough people to field their own soccer teams.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Parq:

Ooh, ass-kicking segue too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Matt from Springfield:

@amEdeo: This situation would add: what is the time delay from being distracted by WFMU? How long with be the delays you encounter from traffic "spillback" and/or subway track problems? If you walk there, how much time will you be delayed from suspicious people accosting you?...
  4:23pm pierre:

@ Scott : when you mentionned the "Häivytys" song, it sounded like you were speaking backward.
Avatar 4:24pm kat330:

@pierre: That pretty well describes the Finnish language experience I heard a lot of it on Skype over the holidays. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Matt from Springfield:

@pierre: The Sytyviäh song, you mean? ;)
  4:25pm northguineahills:

Is this group 3:33 different from the group 3.33?
Avatar 4:25pm kat330:

[see, the math might have made me notice the missing punctuation!]
  4:25pm Henrietta:

Tortoise drum sample!
Avatar 4:26pm amEdeo:

@Matt: The suspicious people and WFMU are the real problems, I have been training for walking through traffic unharmed for my entire life. Especially mysterious people promising to share the secrets of hair and skin care.
  4:27pm pierre:

@ Matt : YLTCAXE !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Matt from Springfield:

@amEdeo: Watch out in Thailand--one time they actually put their secret of skin care on my face, out of NOWHERE!

@kat: Did you get the link from Ken? I found if you log in through that link, and go to the WFMU homepage, you can access the current playlists and post as before, but with just the preview and no math question box.
Avatar 4:33pm kat330:

@Matt: Whatcha been smokin' Matt? I *am* going sum-less, thus my point about putting in the point if I'd had a sum to do. Plus there's all that other talk up earlier on the list. ;)
  4:34pm pierre:

@Scott : correct me if i'm wrong, but I couldn't seem to find your fav list of 2012 on the blog, is that right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat: Ah, been inhalin' too much coffee vapor! I thought you weren't, from the "math might have made me notice the missing punctuation!" you weren't getting the preview. My main problem with that is my motor skills are on Autopilot, so I end up pointing the mouse cursor too low, where the math question "should" be! :)
  4:36pm steve:

i was surprised by how rarely i heard Pye Corner Audio on FMU last year... guy had one of the best albums AND one of the best rereleases...
Avatar 4:37pm kat330:

Nope, getting the preview, but without the extra eyeball while doing the math sum, I'm letting a lot of typos go through. That and a overlong nail I need to trim.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Matt from Springfield:

Know what you mean!
  4:40pm Braveness23:

watching a webinar with WFMU as the background music. Best, most F@#$ed up webinar ever!
Avatar 4:42pm kat330:

Trim those nails, Matt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Overlong Nail:

I scratch you where you don't think about, before you know what hit you! The back of your hand! Other fingers! Any part of the body you scratch! Bwahahahaha!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Scott W:

Pierre! no I didn't do a list for the blog, but I did do a pretty much full-on best of 2012 show last monday
Avatar 4:46pm amEdeo:

Ugh. That reminds me, I still have a splinter in my finger...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Matt from Springfield:

In the winter, toenails should be a special consideration, since you're not barefoot as often and they tend to grow and scratch quicker than in summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Matt from Springfield:

@B23: Webinars, mandatory training modules--some brave souls here even play their conference calls to WFMU! Many sanity-saving configurations.
Avatar 4:48pm kat330:
