Favoriting The Radio Is Broken with Rich In Washington: Playlist from May 17, 2024 Favoriting

The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

They (Joe Scarb, MicaBrez and John Heilman...Mike Barnicle was there not even pretending to care, to his credit) were talked about Albini on Morning Joe. It was like they took a bet to do the segment without ever saying "Big Black" but to use the word "uncompromising" in every single sentence.

BTW, there's a YouTube video interview of Corman with William Shatner where they talk about the making of The Intruder. Say what you will about the Shat and his ego, but it was riviting and he came across as very humble and grateful for that early role. It was also very funny.

I'm sleepy too. I should make another cup of coffee but I would need to play a long track. I need a coffee robot.

Me too. Even if you go back to sleep, you're all groggy when the alarm finally does go off.

I forgot to go to the post office for a couple of weeks and when I got there I had like four separate Discogs orders waiting for me, most of them weird 7" records.

And that's what we're hearing now?

I'm trying to change a lightbulb but can't figure how to get the damned cover off the fixture. There are no screws and it doesn't seem to twist off

The new Messer Chups showed up on my porch today. Prettier than I expected, from this pic on Bandcamp I thought "lava vinyl" was just red mastodon.social...

It's at Dante's, which I don't really like. It's full of dudes who learned about punk in the late 90s and who're all in their 50s now.

They've been playing with AO a lot, a lot of posters with a graphic swiped from Black Sunday www.facebook.com...

I didn't know Agent Orange were still around and touring. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

MC played with them some last year (they've pretty much been going with just a month break since), I think that was first time I'd heard of them since the late 80s. Living In Darkness is a banger, so good for them

MAGA and many other types have *always* gone on about fart books, etc. Meanwhile, Philip Roth's Sabbath's Theater remains on the shelves. Do your kids a favor and direct them there.

I was mightily impressed to see "The R. Crumb Handbook" filed in the general stacks in my local library this week. But they didn't have it in the children's section.
