Without Ron Wood, they wouldn't have gotten to the "Miss You"/"Start Me Up"/huge tour era, and without Charlie and Darryl Jones, those post-1989 megatours would have just been embarrassing. Minority opinion, but they were on an upward trajectory from 1995-2003.

Majesties isn't a 'Concept Album' per se. Who cares? It is certainly Creative. & it expresses something about Psychedelia only the Stones could have transmitted - a certain Paganism.

@Paulie B - re Have You Seen .... well, oldies radio wrote it out of history decades ago and it never really got into the classic rock rotation so perhaps it is a deep cut after all!

I only saw the Stones live in โ€˜81 (Philly) and that tour release short show up in Lincoln Center (?) during a work lunch hour. For the life of me, I canโ€™t remember the year in that one. Sometime in the early 21st century? Did any other NYC folks catch that one?

No time for people who don't recognize the Greatness of Charlie or Ringo.
Of course - the entire Rolling Stones was a kind of Rhythm Section.

@David Shortell:"Indeed. I've long argued that half of that maligned LP's 10 tracks are good.
I.e., "The Lantern", "2000 Man", "Citadel", "She's a Rainbow", "2000 Light Years From Home"

Shows u how little I know of rock critix opinions---I didnt even realize those cuts from Satanic were maligned!??!? DAMN that LP is brill from start to finish. So for real ?---some dumb critics shat allover that lp?? DIDNT know that

Curious about the inspiration for "Miss Amanda Jones", I found this article: www.punkglobe.com...

I also see that the song is referenced in a John Hughes movie I've never seen, in which Lea Thompson plays a character with that name.

David Shortell - yeah great link !! I always had the vague notion Amanda Lear herself was transgender or something - she was often mentioned in relation to it. Which only recently really is becoming a more generally 'normalized' thing of course.
