Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm McGroovey:

I love that Nils Lofgren song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm Mike W:

Hey Ira, you mind if I smoke a little weed?
Avatar 9:05pm vj pussycat:

Hi Ira! We're all expecting great things.
Swag For Life Member 9:06pm Ira:

Listen to your heart, Mike W.
Avatar 9:06pm Little Danny:

Buddy Holly's guitar playing is still underrated.
Swag For Life Member 9:06pm Bruce S.:

Go Ira! hey everybody
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm Mike W:

Oh my heart wants out of this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm mrdonutsu:

  9:08pm georgia:

Avatar 9:08pm Little Danny:

Such thrash.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm McGroovey:

The only Hawkwind songs that really stick with me are the Lemmy ones, and "Silver Machine", which I count as a Lemmy one
Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Bruce S.:

Excellent start tonight Ira
  9:10pm Rick G:

Coming in hot with the great first set, great stuff.
  9:12pm Libby’s Mom:

Hello from the Streets of Baltimore
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm McGroovey:

Now in my brain I'm hearing Motorhead covering As Long as I'm Moving. Did anyone else hear that?

Yeah, i don't know.

Now Motorhead is covering Streets of Baltimore.

I dunno
Avatar 9:14pm vj pussycat:

i find smoking (or eating) a little weed to be quite complimentary to ira the k's radio programs, especially in the last hour when things tend to get wonky in the best way. i hope that's ok.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm DonJuanTijuana:

Checking in Ira & Georgia! A little late to the party
Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Bruce S.:

Lets face it it's quite complimentary to WFMU in general
Avatar 9:17pm Little Danny:

Digging this.
  9:17pm yippie:

now baltimore has a free purple bus if you are too tired walkin the streets
  9:18pm mark:

Even after years working at Pravda. Never heard that Lesher nugget
  9:18pm Michael Shore:

Just as I was thinking "'wonky,' VJP? 'Wonky???'" Bobby Bare vanished from the playlist. And I haven't even smoked anything. So like McG, I dunno.
  9:19pm georgia:

i think the lines are open, i recommend calling ira to update the playlist.
  9:20pm Dayffid:

Hey Ira and co!
  9:21pm Vince from Pearl:

Greetings Ira, Georgia and everyone. My cat woke me up from a nap to tell me it was time for Ira. Let's go Mets!
  9:21pm georgia:

Walker is on fire!
Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Ira:

Are you caught up, Georgia? Don't want to give anything away (this week).
  9:22pm Dayffid:

Just tuned in in and see I miss streets of Baltimore. Does anyone else feel that that song is like a blueprint for almost every Bruce Springsteen song?
Swag For Life Member 9:23pm Bruce S.:

Avatar 9:23pm vj pussycat:

i'm just gonna go for it. i believe in ira.
Swag For Life Member 9:23pm Bruce S.:

Oh I love this El Michels Affair, thanks for playing it!
  9:24pm Dayffid:

Not bashing by the way love the song and Bruce. Just an observation I was wondering if anyone else shared or disagreed with?
  9:25pm Dayffid:

Bruce S - Is that you boss? Haha
Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Bruce S.:

well springsteen did do streets of philadelphia, a homage?
  9:28pm Vince from Pearl:

Georgia, 12 k's is indeed on fire!
9:29pm Mr & Mrs Bobby Microwave:

wonderful tune
Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Bruce S.:

Big inning in the works
  9:31pm georgia:

yes all caught up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Dayffid:

Bruce S - Yeah but also just the narrative format and the general sentiment seems to hold the template for most a lot of his songs.
Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Bruce S.:

I love the xylaphone
  9:32pm E Gregious:

If Ira plays the Dickies, Alonso will hit one out.
Avatar 9:32pm John L:

I was supposed to watch a film at a friend's house. Plans got cancelled. Kinda happy about it since a part of me would rather be here. There's always tomorrow. Great opening set. Maybe I'll light up, too, vj pussycat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Kat in Chicago:

what a nice bunch of songs that I have mostly never heard before.
Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Bruce S.:

Big inning went kaput
Avatar 9:35pm John L:

Kat in Chicago, I agree. I just put the Jeff Lescher and Tin Foil in my Bandcamp cart. Special Juneteenth Bandcamp Friday this week, by the way.
Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Ira:

Sorry, Bruce S., it's my fault for not playing the Dickies.
Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Bruce S.:

Dayffid I definitly see what you mean Bruce Kind of captures that vibe in alot of his songs. Man alone in a cold city, working class etc. etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm leshwatt:

:-)~
  9:37pm Mikelark:

That Other Houses track was great! Hello from Decatur, GA
Avatar 9:38pm vj pussycat:

Working class heartbreak
Avatar 9:40pm John L:

vj pussycat, someone just gave me some edibles yesterday, but I'm hesitant to eat them this late since I don't know how potent they are. I'll just smoke for now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Tommy in Neversink:

I was waiting for some Waits
Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Bruce S.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Parq:

Get away from me, kid, you bother me.
Avatar 9:46pm vj pussycat:

smart move john l. if you have commitments tomorrow, it's best not to experiment with unknown doses. i often get hungover from good (strong) edibles too. best to be a responsible stoner
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Gurldoggie:

I like the story - maybe apocryphal? - that Frito Lay ripped off that Tom Waits song, and Waits then successfully sued Frito Lay for gazillions, which was what allowed him to reinvent his style and career.
Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Bruce S.:

Great story, I hope it;s true
Avatar 9:50pm Hams:

tcm's been knockin' it out of the park.
Avatar 9:50pm John L:

vj pussycat, once I made Neil Young's recipe for something called honeyslides and I was stoned for 24 hours. Could barely make it through Christmas dinner. Not responsible that day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Parq:

The story is true.

That’s amazing Parq, thank you! Ask and ye shall receive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Kat in Chicago:

Are there a lot of songs about lawnmowers and lawn mowing? The only other one I can think of is "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe" by Genesis
  10:00pm Dayffid:

Can’t think of any others though. 🤔

Avatar 10:02pm John L:

Lawn Darts by Ed's Redeeming Qualities.
  10:02pm Dayffid:

I think there was a Richard Thompson album with a picture of a lawn mower on the front but don’t think it actually featured in any song? Maybe it did?
Avatar 10:02pm northguineahills:

George Jones should have done a lawnmowing song (he got a DUI on a ride-on lawnmower).
  10:02pm Michael Shore:

good one Kat, re Genesis. "Lawn Chairs" by Our Daughter's Wedding, anyone? The Move's "I Can Hear the Grass Grow"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm pgalub:

Whoa, that fuzz guitar solo was pretty unexpected and awesome! Hey everyone!
  10:03pm Dayffid:

Oh just thought - is there a line about perfect lawns in Pleasant Valley Sunday?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Tommy in Neversink:

Who's gonna mow your grass ...WOW
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm leshwatt:

Great sets Ira.

Never know what’s coming next!
  10:04pm Dayffid:

Wait didn’t George Jones sing A Good Year for the roses? - “the lawn could use a little mowing...”
Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Bruce S.:

Beach boys party was one of their best albums
  10:05pm Michael Shore:

Louis Jordan. "5 Guys Named Mow."

  10:18pm Dayffid:

Signing off early. Thanks for the jams!
  10:18pm Rick G:

A certain notable band also has what looks like the product of a mower (or is it?!) as an LP gatefold photo…
  10:18pm absmiami:

oh dear you played Back it Up and I tuned in late ill take my punishment now
Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Bruce S.:

Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Ira:

I know what you mean, Little Danny. When I looked at the lp jacket, I thought it was a straight cover of Cry Like a Baby, and wasn't into the concept of the medley. And then I heard it.
Avatar 10:29pm vj pussycat:

i love how trini lopez' takes a totally different spin on that tune from say, is it donovan?

@coel It was unexpected. Threw out my awful plastic 1 cup coffee maker, so figured I'd make all of the ginger peach tea. Brewed it with marijuana stems (for CBD), added lemon & honey, then chilled it in the freezer. Highly recommend!

@Gurldoggie No, we hear it, too. It's Jaap Blonk.

Does anyone have any information about "AC&S"? Nothing shows up on google

I have been digging into the Stampfel 20thC set this past week based on the song from it you played last Tuesday, Ira. Some of it is hard going but a lot of it is just heart-rendingly beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm McGroovey:

Is this Greg Cartwright singing? I suppose it's not. But it could be,
