Comment: I began to have trouble with my micro-cassette recorder at this point. Loss of treble here and there. This is why, in the editing process, I went to a format of asking the question after the fact, and then dubbing in the interview subject's response. Later on the problem clears up a bit. This is probably the end-of-the-line for this particular micro-cassette unit. I have another in the bullpen, but Radio Shack has discontinued the model I have used since 1998, and they are getting hard to find. The 'Dusty' sound comes from these little $29 units. Who knows when I'll have to find a new 'sound.' Kind of sad.

Comment: In addition to micro-cassette troubles, there is the ongoing struggle of differing rates of tape speed from one cassette unit to the other. As I've mentioned before, I often have to monitor the tape speed control of WFMU's studio cassette deck to compensate for tape speed differences with my home unit. I tend to get 'chipmunk' voices (sped-up) and I have to slow them down manually. As the tape continues to roll, this rate will change at different rates. It varies also from 60 to 90-minute cassettes. Naturally, this effects music as well, and during songs I have to make sure they are not too fast or slow. Sometimes I fail. All in the interest of keeping the 'sound' you seem to favor over the digital recording. Strange. I have a rather expensive Sony digital recorder, but I still use the $29 Radio Shack unit. Hope to keep using one!

Comment: That's it for another Dusty Show everybody. Thanks for listening. I've really been enjoying your Accu-Playlist comments and emails. If you'd like to drop me a line ---- dusty@wfmu.orgI know I sometimes overdo the politics, but with an election upcoming, I'll probably keep doing it. I'll try to keep mixing in other topics and music along the way. Also have to figure out my micro-cassette sitch. People always say 'why don't you go digital or just use some other kind of micro-cassette, but I have become rather obsessively attached to the one's I use. Whatever. I'll figure something out. I hope life is treating you well and that you've been having a good summer. I really appreciate your continued listening, support and loyalty. It matters to me. Quite honestly, these shows are a ton of work, but it's a labor of love most of the time, and being an FMU DJ is a privilige I dn't take lightly. So ... until next time, keep on rocking and always remember. Clay PigeonNYC2225899
