EVENING ALL - WE HAD OUR "FIRST SNOW FALL" IN VA YESTERDAY! HARDLY AMOUNTED TO AN INCH.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 1/8/20 7:08pm Matt Clarke:

Good evening Mom Whig. We had snow squall alerts, but nothing here in NYC
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:09pm MOM WHIG:

THERE IS NO PLAYLIST COMING UP PER SONG?
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:10pm MOM WHIG:

SAT AND SUN HERE TO BE 67-68 DEGREES!! REALLY?? AMAZING...
Avatar Wed. 1/8/20 7:12pm Mod Mokka Matti:

Hello everyone! No snow here in Seattle/Tacoma (yet), but plenty of grey damp clouds, threatening to dump buckets of liquid sunshine. A good day to stay in and try to do some cleaning while tuning in.

here in Finland I have a problem - no, it is not so much the time of the day (2am thu morning here), but the fact it is the same hour weekly world blues is on! So far, I have solved this by surfing between wfmu & drummer. Life’s smaller problems (or are they that smaller?)

no terve mod mokka matti!

Hey, Glynis! Tunin' in! :)
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:17pm huomenta:

well I like to listen to this live, so.... seems like I am on a permanent vacation (shit, I have seen that movie once and remember not that much, is it good...?) - actually sick leave;)
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:21pm huomenta:

matt clarke, funny how much easier wfmu (and any other radio online for that matter) is to use with an age old computer with linux (for instance) than with some "modern" gadget like my partner's tablet I am typing this typo-mess with...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 1/8/20 7:29pm Matt Clarke:

Hope you got it going huomenta!
Avatar Wed. 1/8/20 7:30pm Mod Mokka Matti:

This is shaping up to be a mighty swell playlist so far, Glynis! Sounding A-ok through my 51 year-old Magnavox (not-so-portable) "portable" stereo, hooked up to my significantly newer ThinkPad. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 1/8/20 7:34pm Matt Clarke:

Nice to add a bit of tube-warmth innit
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:35pm huomenta:

well mod mokka matti, I can tell salora , a finnish company based in salo made damn good turntables - I have one - until they went bankrupt... early 1980s? Vintage audio seems to be the way to go as long as you don't pay big money for equipment best suitable for decoration purposes not sound reproduction
Avatar Wed. 1/8/20 7:38pm Mod Mokka Matti:

@Matt: Mine is actually Solid State, but those Germanium transistors add their own color, and the air molecules around the speakers are certainly noticeably warmer from the speakers getting a good workout ;-)
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:41pm crypt digger:

hello
Avatar Wed. 1/8/20 7:45pm Mod Mokka Matti:

@huomenta: I paid more than what I should have for my unit, but it's a vintage "all-in-one" AM/FM Stereo with flip-down (English-made) Collaro Micromatic record changer, that also has output for external speakers and Aux inputs. It was second to the top-of-the-line in '69 for the suitcase range, and the seller I bought it from had it thoroughly serviced by a technician before I acquired it. It's not a Technics or a Dual, but I have no complaints in the four years that I've had it - and Magnavox was still building quality products yet, before Philips started degrading the company after they bought it.

hello crypt

  Wed. 1/8/20 7:49pm crypt digger:

what is going on here ?
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:53pm MOM WHIG:

SEE YOU ALL NEXT WEEK......SORRY IT'S COMING TO AN END FOR TONIGHT
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:54pm huomenta:

mod mokka matti, here in finland, a second hand record shop (some finns might be familiar with) also does turntable repair and sells old hifi at agreeable prices. I love it! have not used their services yet, my ownhealth matters have to come first, but will have to do so in near future. I personally am an old soul who prefers old music (without disliking new) and old cheap stuff that lasts a lifetime
Avatar Wed. 1/8/20 7:54pm Mod Mokka Matti:

It always passes by too quickly.
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:55pm MOM WHIG:

I ALSO HAVE AN "OLD HI-FI" HERE IN VIRGINIA.
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:55pm huomenta:

there are only 60 minutes or 3600 seconds to an hour ;)
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:56pm huomenta:

Mom whig - that is how I love my music
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 1/8/20 7:57pm Matt Clarke:

Cheers for the great show Glynis. Hope you're well. Talk to everyone soon!
  Wed. 1/8/20 7:57pm MOM WHIG:

EXACTLY!
Avatar Wed. 1/8/20 7:58pm Mod Mokka Matti:

@huomenta - I'm much the same with vintage gear - I was an Industrial Design major at Uni years ago, and have always been tearing stuff apart to see how it works - as well as repairing a lot of things. It's easier to keep the vintage gear alive than it is to bother with the "new" stuff that can't be fixed.
Avatar Wed. 1/8/20 7:59pm Mod Mokka Matti:

Glad I was able to tune in today - it's been a while. Thank you, Glynis!
  Wed. 1/8/20 8:00pm huomenta:

I only wish I had these skills you have, I barely can tie my shoes really. Tearing stuff apart and reusing stuff, mmm - kudos to you who can do it!
  Wed. 1/8/20 8:01pm huomenta:

this set needs a repeat listen - archives here I come!
