@Erica - I think they fixed the server issue. I did a three hour fill in show last Friday and all was well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:06pm coelacanth∅:

oh good both Otis and Marty appreciated here tonight.
(actually i would've put money on that!)
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:08pm Erica:

Okay Larry that's good to know. Also I forgot about the Friday show.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:11pm hyde:

hi all. stayin up late tonight
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:11pm coelacanth∅:

i like how Otis stuck that homework riff into all your loving...except that what i really think is that he stuck that all your loving riff into homework! (or is it that only fleetwood mac stuck that riff into homework?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:12pm Funky16Corners:

Hey Hyde!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:13pm Funky16Corners:

@C - Might have been FM. Peter Green and Clapton (both Mayall alumni) were huge Otis Rush fans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:13pm coelacanth∅:

hello again hyde. tonight it may be me who checks out early.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:14pm coelacanth∅:

oh, now that i hear the beginning of the original i know it's not in here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:15pm coelacanth∅:

Green did an incredible job to get that sound Otis got on all your loving. (big surprise,right...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:16pm hyde:

this is great
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:17pm northguineahills:

Was on death's door earlier, but you and Gary are getting me back to normal....
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:18pm geezerette:

That set satisfied my soul.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:20pm northguineahills:

Familiar w/ Otis Rush, but don't have any of his records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:22pm Funky16Corners:

Hey NGH! This music is guaranteed to restore your vitality, at least for the duration of the show.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:22pm geezerette:

Larry, hear whatcha mean about influence.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:23pm coelacanth∅:

i have a few very scratchy 45s of Otis. definitely worked my way backward - as with many blues artists.
...i play him a lot on the jukebox at the pub though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:24pm Funky16Corners:

@Geezerette - Otis is a big bridge to the later British blues sound. He brought a lot of 'rock' excitement with his records
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:24pm hyde:

who can forget Marty Balin getting punched out by a biker at Altamont
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:24pm Funky16Corners:

'They knocked out our singer!'
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:25pm Franco Twinkie:

My favorite album by JA. Marty, Skip, Signe, Paul. Breaks my heart.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:25pm Parq:

It was a tough week for music. In addition to Otis and Marty, we lost Jerry Gonzalez and Charles Aznavour.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:25pm Erica:

Shame we lost Marty, Signe and Paul.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:26pm Funky16Corners:

Grace is almost 80!
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:26pm still b/p:

"Blues" wasn't many degrees away from an Association flavor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:26pm coelacanth∅:

it's no secret this is my favorite Marty Balin vocal track
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:26pm Funky16Corners:

I was surprise by how much of the songwriting Marty did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:27pm hyde:

yeah, this is great
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:27pm geezerette:

Ha! Hyyyyyyyde!

Hey, Grace Slick is like Mary Travers after LSD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:28pm northguineahills:

Familiar w/ Otis Rush, but don't have any of his records.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:28pm Franco Twinkie:

Pre Grace.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:28pm northguineahills:

Definitely have Marty Balin cuts....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:29pm northguineahills:

my browser is getting wacky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:29pm coelacanth∅:

well, it was his band after all... for a little while.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:29pm geezerette:

Seriously, Airplane Harmonies remind me of PP&M; never thought of that before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:30pm hyde:

@geez hiya!
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:30pm Erica:

Jefferson Airplane, before the psychedelic era.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:30pm Franco Twinkie:

Recorded at RCA studio A on Sunset. The great Dave Hassinger on the board.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:31pm geezerette:

Howdy Hyde!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:31pm Funky16Corners:

@Geezerette - They were - at least in the beginning - a folk rock band (with a great pop edge).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:31pm Funky16Corners:

This right here is my jam. One of my all tine favorite records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:32pm Funky16Corners:

Go Jorma!
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:32pm geezerette:

... so good, it glows in the dark!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:33pm coelacanth∅:

i think i like the psychedelic era airplane best (despite thinking Grace was a poor choice of female singers) but some of my most favorite songs are pre- psychedelic era for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:34pm Parq:

Hope we're going to hear something from "Pointed Head". Always loved the high-octane version of "3/5" that kicks that album off (after the King Kong finish, of course).
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:34pm Franco Twinkie:

Skip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:35pm Funky16Corners:

Surrealistic Pillow is just one of the best albums ever. I bought my first copy when I was 13 or 14 and it has never gotten old for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:35pm Funky16Corners:

@Franco - One of the saddest acid casualties, up there with Roky and Syd Barrett.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:36pm Parq:

I loved all of the JA stuff, up to and including "Bark" and "30
Seconds". Never could get into the 'Ship, no matter how many of my friends loved them. But in the 60s, my 45 collection had plenty of JA and the Rascals.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:36pm geezerette:

Hey, Coel! Parq! Sill B/P! Franco! Erica!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:36pm coelacanth∅:

they should've let him sing harmonies on this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:36pm Parq:

Hugs, Geez.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:37pm geezerette:

Aww... hugs back. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:37pm hyde:

love this one
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:37pm coelacanth∅:

(Skip, on "my best friend", that is)

heyyy g!
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:37pm still b/p:

Good eezening, geez.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:38pm Erica:

I wonder if guitarist Craig Chaquico was saddened by Marty's death.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:38pm Funky16Corners:

I don't know if any of you have headphones on, but if you do, dig the fuzz guitar in the background
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:38pm northguineahills:

Yeah, early airplane is the best heavier then air/inter-galactic craft.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:38pm geezerette:

Everybody staring at the lava lamp yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:39pm Funky16Corners:

@Erica - Was there bad blood between Chaquico and Balin?
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:39pm Erica:

No. Just wondering.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:39pm Franco Twinkie:

When I was 13 I asked my folks if they would take me to the Shrine Exposition Hall to see the Airplane....They just laughed. But I do have the poster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:39pm Parq:

"Funny Cars" was the B side of "Somebody to Love" -- I remember having that "D'oh!" moment when, during my brief fascination with drag racing, I finally understood the title.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:39pm coelacanth∅:

i'm listening on a 13" laptop, no phones. i remember the fuzz git though! i KNEW it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:39pm northguineahills:

I got a lava lamp for xmas in HS (I was going through my funky polyester stage) and was bummed w/ a month of my now-wife moving in w/ me, it died. it was a fave companion.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:40pm Erica:

Your parents must've been into crooner music or something Franco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:40pm Parq:

Oh man, "Today" is just shattering!
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:40pm geezerette:

Love this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:41pm Funky16Corners:

Yeah, this is a deep one
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:41pm still b/p:

If I'd remembered to grab that AC for the little thrift store speakers, I could hold 'em up to my ears -- headphonium improvisus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:42pm Funky16Corners:

I remember laying on the floor with my head in between stereo speakers. Between that and playing in a band it's a miracle that I can still hear
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:42pm coelacanth∅:

i had to see who the producer was. Rick Jarrard. Great job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:43pm hyde:

i used to check this lp out of the library
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:43pm Franco Twinkie:

Well, They bought us tons of records but they drew the line at driving us to concerts . We had to figure out how to get there ourselves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:44pm Funky16Corners:

With musical and spiritual advisor Jerry Garcia
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:45pm geezerette:

beautiful performance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:46pm Funky16Corners:

One of those albums where the ballads are so good they don't detract from the rockers a bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:48pm coelacanth∅:

right. apparently both Kaukonen and Garcia himself give Jerry lots of credit for the album; but others dispute that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:50pm hyde:

heh, havent listened to this straight through for some time. thanx.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:50pm Funky16Corners:

The early Airplane stuff is right up there with the essence of the early San Francisco sound. The sound that made the world turn around and pay attention, and, unlike the Dead, they had genuine radio hits, which made them cross over to a non-freak audience, while still being fairly heavy and political
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:51pm Franco Twinkie:

Jerry did get on with Hassinger(engineer) though. He produced The Deads first album a couple of months later in the same room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:52pm Funky16Corners:

I know this is a pretty jarring switch from Surrealistic Pillow, bit I love Marty's stuff from the 70s
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:52pm northguineahills:

There's a Residents' quote that they were disappointed when they moved to SF that the Dead and JA stopped experimenting when found what sold records....
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:52pm still b/p:

Jorma among those never tiring of touring. Been here in Maine many times, and back again next month with Casady -- "Hot Tuna Acoustic."
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:52pm Jeff Ash:

"Miracles." Flashback to senior year of high school.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:53pm geezerette:

I remember thinking as a child that the Hippy / Psychedelic movement was a permanent change in our culture. That artists were at last equal and welcome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:53pm Funky16Corners:

Yeah. high school FM Radio perfection
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:53pm Funky16Corners:

@Geezerette - At least rock and rollers were taken seriously. Some of them took THEMSELVES too seriously, but the mainstream was paying attention
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:54pm Erica:

"Miracles", as heard on many soft rock/mellow gold compilations.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:55pm geezerette:

The money was taken very seriously.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:55pm Funky16Corners:

Also the song with one of the dirtiest lyrics to get played on AM Radio
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 10:56pm Franco Twinkie:

I was sleeping on top of Mt.Tamalpias with a cheap transistor radio watching the fog roll over San Francisco...and this was in heavy rotation in 1975.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:56pm coelacanth∅:

i did start to slightly like this after being bombarded with it for several months!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:57pm Parq:

I'm sorry, but "I had a taste of the real world (just a drop of it) when I went down on you" is one of the least romantic love lyrics I've ever heard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:58pm Funky16Corners:

I'm not sure it was meant to be romantic
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:58pm Funky16Corners:

It strikes me as a little passive aggressive
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:59pm hyde:

i kinda like this one
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 10:59pm Funky16Corners:

I have to go back and reread the Jefferson Airplane bio to see what the dynamic was between Marty and Grace. Marty came back to the band in the 70s, brought some big hits, but Grace was basically reduced to a background singer
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:00pm Erica:

And the band name was then changed to Jefferson Starship I'm guessing Larry?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:01pm Funky16Corners:

They changed to Starship early on, maybe 72/73.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:01pm Erica:

I wasn't wrong.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:02pm Franco Twinkie:

For any one who has never seen it - Marty taking on the Hells Angels at Altamont is a 'must see' moment in rock music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:02pm Funky16Corners:

Actually, the first album with the name was Blows Against the Empire in 1970. They started using it in earnest in 1974
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:02pm coelacanth∅:

my musical head was very much elsewhere in 1975, 76, etc....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:05pm hyde:

that was great
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:06pm Franco Twinkie:

I just saw a new book the other day by Jorma at a book store in Pasadena. I'm sure his take on this whole bunch of drama will be quite revealing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:08pm coelacanth∅:

i was lucky my older brother got "the worst of jefferson airplane" when i was pretty young. that has 3? 4? tracks from surrealistic pillow so when i was a teenager i already knew basically what i was getting when i bought surrealistic pillow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:10pm northguineahills:

well, I released some ladybugs in my garden today, and they immediately swarmed me, crawling all over my clothes, hair, (hundreds), Didn't think they'd be active after being in the fridge. Cutest, ticklish insect infestation I could ask for!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:11pm Funky16Corners:

@Franco - I heard about Jorma's book. I'd like to read that
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:11pm Funky16Corners:

@NGH - That sounds like a transcendental experience. Like a beard of bees without the danger
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:12pm Dean:

High school fave for me was After Bathing at Baxters. Thereafter, I dug "Ride the Tiger" enough to pick up a used LP for a couple bucks four or five years ago. But now I love Hot Tuna, whose first album was recorded four blocks from my house in what is now an auto body shop.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:13pm Dean:

And Hot Tuna is playing for three nights in town at the very end of the year!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:14pm northguineahills:

Found some more in my underwear. Yeah, Larry, I was covered by that much, and I was just trying to get a decent pic and release a few tablespoons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:14pm coelacanth∅:

after bathing at baxters might be my favorite. might not...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:14pm Funky16Corners:

I actually got t see Jorma with one of his punk bands, White Gland (maybe 1980?). He did half the show like that and half doing Hot Tuna type stuff.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:15pm rw:

Howdy! No glitches this week! Except that I don't see any $ in the collection plate...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:16pm Funky16Corners:

Hey rw! Yeah, the month is young.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:16pm Dean:

A couple weekends ago I passed up a used SVT EP (w/ Casady) at a local record store parking lot sale for, I dunno, three bucks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:17pm coelacanth∅:

Larry if they're honey bees there's very little danger. (unless you're allergic to them) even bumble bees are low-risk. just don't move suddenly or trap them accidentally.
and ladybugs do bite people sometimes. it probably doesn't hurt but some people have an allergic reaction to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:18pm Funky16Corners:

I love bees, except for yellowjackets, who can go fuck themselves and twice on Sunday.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:19pm Dean:

A father of a classmate of my second grade daughter's lives half a block from a Berkeley house dubbed "the tuna house." Rumor has it HT lived there for a time.

Ladybugs in My Underwear has a ring to it.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:19pm Erica:

Haha Larry.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:19pm Dean:

*of my second grade daughter
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:19pm Funky16Corners:

My son and I accidentally upset a yellowjacket nest and both got multiple, painful stings a few years back. Naturally, he was already terrified of bees, so this made things worse.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:20pm Dean:

But a yellowjacket is a wasp, no? You should be terrified of wasps. Maybe WASPS, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:20pm northguineahills:

better then ants in my pants that make me do the boogie dance.

I pet honey and bumble bees. During the first cold snap of the winter, I find some in my garden, and breath warm air on them until they resuscitate and fly away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:20pm coelacanth∅:

yellowjackets are wasps. and yes they suck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:20pm northguineahills:

Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:21pm Erica:

I'm afraid of bees. They sting you to teach you to respect them and not mess with them.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:22pm Erica:

Even though we need them for honey and to pollinate the flowers.

Have any of you seen those cicada killer wasps? They're simultaneously terrifying and harmless
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:22pm coelacanth∅:

ngh i've done that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:22pm northguineahills:

(haven't been stung since I was kid, even by wasps. As long as you don't fear them). Yeah, yellowjackets are assholes, but have avoided getting stung.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:23pm coelacanth∅:

cicada killers are awesome! and not harmless if you're an asshole to them, which works for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:24pm northguineahills:

My wife thought I was crazy the first few times I put a bee in my hand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:24pm Funky16Corners:

The first time I saw one I nearly shit myself. They're HUGE!
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:24pm Franco Twinkie:

Coel, After Bathing At Baxters, yes! I do believe that the essence of that album was inspired by The Airplane living directly across the street from Golden Gate Park(corner of Parsons and Fulton) That park has..excuse me, there is no other way to say it - a heavy spirit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:25pm doctorjazz:

Hey all, really late to the party, but going to enjoy the tail end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:25pm northguineahills:

I find a lot of hawk-wasp moths in my garden. Great pollinators, Huge, and being moths, totally harmless (but look scary at first, being wasp-like morphologically).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:25pm Funky16Corners:

Hey Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:27pm coelacanth∅:

i've been stung scores of times. excepting one time by a bumble bee IN MY EAR when i was 3-4, all by yellowjackets.
i work sometimes up to my neck in very active bees and they never sting me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:27pm northguineahills:

Gotta say goodbye to my friend before he leaves town. leaving in 10 mins, thanks!.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:27pm Erica:

I once had a pregnant mother bee in my house. Mom and I had to get her out before she gave birth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:27pm Funky16Corners:

@NGH - I've never seen one of those in the wild. They're something else!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:28pm Funky16Corners:

I was once stung on the bridge of my nose, right between the eyes by a hornet. It was - how do they say - unpleasant.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:29pm Dean:

I was stung just a few months ago in my armpit(!) while standing at a burger joint buying lunch for my daughter. She was amused.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:29pm coelacanth∅:

some moths are actually carnivores, but i don't think they'd bite a human. (others don't even have mouths.)

Franco i read once that "bathing at baxter's" was the band's code word for tripping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:30pm Funky16Corners:

Carnivorous moths?!?!? How is this this first I'm hearing of this??
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:30pm coelacanth∅:

yikes! in the armpit! right into the lymphatic system.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:31pm Erica:

I was stung by a bee when I was really little. I don't remember it but I was told that it stung one of my toes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:32pm Funky16Corners:

Getting stung on the feet by yellowjackets used to be a summer ritual. They nest in the ground and we used to run everywhere in bare feet
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:32pm coelacanth∅:

Larry i'm more fascinated by the ones with no mouths. talk about a limited skill set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:33pm Funky16Corners:

How do they eat? Via proboscis?
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:34pm Dean:

It bugged me for a couple days, but otherwise no ill effects.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:34pm northguineahills:

Ok, now the ladybugs think I'm the ladybug king or something, I went to get something out of my car and a few dozen swarmed me. I'm liking this benign superpower!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:35pm Funky16Corners:

You're their buddy now!
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:35pm Dean:

Via Proboscis, a tiny neighborhood taverna.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:37pm coelacanth∅:

i was wearing sandals and walking toward my girlfriend's parents house in pa (where they grow 'em big!) to meet them for the first time when an enormous yellowjacket got under the middle of my foot and couldn't get out - and i had to calmly un-do the sandal to get it out; but it did not wait to sting me...and keep stinging me.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:37pm geezerette:

Wonderful set. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:37pm doctorjazz:

Trane!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:38pm coelacanth∅:

Larry they don't eat. they live only to procreate.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:38pm Franco Twinkie:

Last week I got home from the store and the outside of the back door had about a hundred wasps swarming - it's an end of summer thing. Well, I usually don't bother insects if the keep to themselves, but that's my back door their swarming, motherfuckers are finished! I walked across the street to the nursery and bought this high powered eco friendly can of who knows what, and came back and blasted the shit out of them. It was an all day project, but I won.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:39pm Funky16Corners:

I love most creatures, but will lose no sleep over a wasp massacre
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:39pm coelacanth∅:

unfortunately they will occupy your home if you don't nip it in the bud.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:40pm Erica:

Bees are the reason why I don't swim in my backyard pool anymore. Around Noon-3pm they would fly around the pool so I can't get out.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:40pm rw:

I've got a small wasp nest going near my back door. Extermination is on my list. Along with about a hundred other things.

Lenny Bruce said that people should stop bum rapping sharks, but he never said nothin' about hornets.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:41pm Dean:

We should build a wall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:42pm coelacanth∅:

i've never had a problem with other wasps besides yellowjackets. (though the black ones get in sometimes and i wont risk accidentally rolling over on one and getting stung)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:42pm Funky16Corners:

This monument was recorded right here in New Jersey. Don't say we never did nuthin' for you.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:42pm rw:

Mostly we've been having mosquito issues this summer. Super annoying. And Dean! I'm building a wall too!
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:43pm Dean:

Who's gonna pay for it, rw?
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:44pm rw:

I'm paying. Those mosquitos don't seem to have any cash.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:45pm Erica:

Haha rw
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:46pm Franco Twinkie:

The first day of school was hot as hell in 1971. I came home and threw myself on the back lawn and fell asleep. I rolled over and a wasp stung me on the eye.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:47pm Funky16Corners:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:47pm Funky16Corners:

So will our anti-wasp support group be meeting here regularly?
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:48pm Dean:

I regard it not so much as anti-wasp as pro-enclosed-patio.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:48pm rw:

What's the Coltrane record where the solo matches up with the poem on the album jacket. Is it A Love Supreme? I was trying to remember the other day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:48pm doctorjazz:

The Mann/Sonny Sharrok band (don't have much Mann, have to correct that one of these days)
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:49pm Franco Twinkie:

Love/Airplane - Hate/wasps.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:49pm Dean:

The live album from the Whisky captures one of Sharrock's finest solos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:51pm doctorjazz:

That is A Love Supreme rw.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:52pm Dean:

The cover of Stomu Yamashta's Go live album from Paris features a cigarette pack. It's rather elegant.
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:53pm Dean:

Thank you v-e-r-y much, doctorjazz, for Plugged Nickel. Haven't yet had a chance to play them, but will soon.

Thanks Dr. Jazz. That's what I thought. You're the Doctor!

After spending so much of the past week listening to Marty Balin during his Airplane days, I kept hearing many phrasing and stylistic similarities between him and Felix Caviliere... Of course, Marty had the folky earnestness while Felix had the soul shout, but the approach seemed a bit similiar... took me only about 40 years to hear that but I just never listened to so much JA back to back previously.
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:54pm Franco Twinkie:

Thanks Larry - super show!
Avatar Wed. 10/3/18 11:54pm Erica:

The show's ending early tonight.

Thank you, thank you F16C!
  Wed. 10/3/18 11:55pm Dean:

Somehow I thought this show would close with The Wasps' "Can't Wait for '78."
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:55pm Funky16Corners:

Erica - You are correct. I timed the last set poorly, perhaps thinking I would blab more than I did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 10/3/18 11:55pm doctorjazz:

No problem Dean enjoy!
