I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

![]() Daniel is a really reserved, down to earth guy when he's not on stage. He's very cool. I once watched a performance by him and two or three little kids during a street fair. The kids where going absolutely apeshit on guitar and bass. One kid was screaming into a microphone. I don't remember what Daniel ws doing. It was insane. Then they threw hundreds of super balls in the room, which went everywhere. After the set, I asked a sweat-drenched, exhausted Daniel if those were his kids and he said 'No! I WISH!'. They were students at the school where he worked. He talked them into doing a crazy performance. It was brilliant. |

![]() |
![]() I have a field recording somewhere of that street fair performance. I think i recall that it was way distorted, due to the extreme volume. It was done in a tiny gelato shop during a great noise experimental festival that used to occur in North Portland called No Fest. |

![]() I produced the live remote simulcast for KBOO in, I think 2010 and it was just a mess. The people coordinating the main stage and doing the sound didn't have a clue of what they were doing. It was a technical nightmare. So many great live acts, though. |

△:
We are in a generalized crisis in relation to all the environments of enclosure–prison, hospital, factory, school, family. The family is an “interior,” in crisis like all other interiors–scholarly, professional, etc. The administrations in charge never cease announcing supposedly necessary reforms: to reform schools, to reform industries, hospitals, the armed forces, prisons. But everyone knows that these institutions are finished, whatever the length of their expiration periods. It’s only a matter of administering their last rites and of keeping people employed until the installation of the new forces knocking at the door. These are the societies of control, which are in the process of replacing disciplinary societies. “Control” is the name Burroughs proposes as a term for the new monster, one that Foucault recognizes as our immediate future. Paul Virilio also is continually analyzing the ultrarapid forms of free-floating control that replaced the old disciplines operating in the time frame of a closed system. There is no need to invoke the extraordinary pharmaceutical productions, the molecular engineering, the genetic manipulations, although these are slated to enter the new process. There is no need to ask which is the toughest regime, for it’s within each of them that liberating and enslaving forces confront one another. For example, in the crisis of the hospital as environment of enclosure, neighborhood clinics, hospices, and day care could at first express new freedom, but they could participate as well in mechanisms of control that are equal to the harshest of confinements. There is no need to fear or hope, but only to look for new weapons. | |

![]() I was at an SRL show in 1989 getting blasted with some gawdawful machinery. I only lost my stuffed bunny, Pat. |

89 Prock, not sure. Bryce, yes, I remember hearing that. Saw this same tour with Fabio when it came through NYC, insane! www.youtube.com... |

89 Prock, they had to find an outdoor parking lot or event space that would allow them to blow stuff up, impossible to believe it could happen now, but that kind of insanity was allowed in 1980s NYC, hahahaha |

I have hearing loss from live electric music. (Being in restaurant/bars is hard as all the chatter piles up on me.) Never thought about acoustic orchestras! |

I believe the SRL Queens show took place in some part of the old World's Fair grounds, really wild, some machines just failed, some blew up when they were supposed to, some when they weren't supposed to. No soundtrack at the time, just the sound of these crazy scenarios of killer bots and severed pig/chicken heads, and mark Pauline and crew running around like maniacs. Priceless! |
