![]() I went to a screening of film and video from the Lomax archive several years ago, and one of the most memorable ones was of an amazing clogger in North Carolina. It was also kind of funny because the person operating the camera set it down when it appeared that the clogging was over, but then he just kept clogging and then there was a scramble & jostling of the camera to keep filming. |

![]() Tim! |

![]() Sending some love for the Lomax! I don't think any of his Moroccan recordings were published on records/cds, but they're all available on the Cultural Equity website. I did a short write-up with links here: moroccantapestash.blogspot.com... |
![]() |
![]() hiya, tim |
![]() |
![]() @whoa, nice |
![]() |
![]() Oh, nice -- thanks, Tim! |
![]() |
![]() Fun fact: Some of Lomax's Spanish recordings (published on Columbia) were used as source material for pieces on the Miles Davis/Gil Evans "Sketches of Spain" album (also on Columbia). The track "Saeta" definitely draws from the Lomax field recordings. |
![]() |
![]() Heya Hyde! |
![]() |
![]() Did not know that! |
![]() |
![]() Cool tim! I don't think the Moroccan recordings have been uploaded yet at cultural equity, but they plan to do so (posted link at the beginning). |
![]() |
![]() @NGH - the Moroccan stuff is online and streaming! Dig it: research.culturalequity.org... |
![]() |
![]() love this set |
![]() |
![]() huh, I was just there (checked the link for morocco) in Dec. Can't wait for the Italian stuff to be uploaded. I was going through the St Kitts & Nevis stuff last weekend. |
