Love her music, but bless her heart....with the snowballing frequency of White Christmas showings, we get to see and see again that Clooney -- especially up against Vera-Ellen -- wasn't meant for that particular sort of song and dance production.

melinda, it was a christmas show. sadly she was so large a couple of handlers had to help her up on stage. but her voice was so nice. my wife and i shared a tiny table with an older couple not five feet away from the stage. he turned out to be the former president of revlon and i had worked for the agency that did some of their work so i had something to talk about. after the show i bought them a drink at the bar which impressed him to no end (i'm sure his retirement package was more than i'll make in a lifetime). we got a christmas card from them inviting us to north carolina where they had a summer home. i don't know if my wife ever responded.

@Sheila: Things may yet work out. Look at how the Japanese were treated after WWII. Look at how they are viewed today. I believe you've spent some time there, as have I. Their culture has been widely accepted here.

Rob Kopp-Right?!! You can see very clearly where she gets it from. Chavela Vargas is one of the greats.

I so enjoy hearing new releases: these are records I would not hear otherwise. Thank you! And next week will be killer!

Rob Kopp:

Start of atmospheric records next week, so there is a follow up? In 2 weeks I'll be in London for a Kinks weekend, so I can't listen then live to SBB (good we have the archives). Friday 24 I'm in pub The Clissold Arms in Muswell Hill (opposite of the house where the Davies bothers lived) and Saturday 25 in pub Edward Lear for 2 sing-a-longs with The Kinks Fan Kollektive, and Sunday 26 in The Boston Arms for the annual fan meeting (with the Kast Off Kinks)

Thanks for saying that CTEmpress! Finding the new songs is one of my favorite parts of doing this show.

@djsheilab Thanks! I'm meeting with my friend today who is this nice old lady that sells Korean LPs from the 60s - 90s. If there's anything you're looking for let me know!

Go Sheila B! This Mondo Grosso is so sick!

Rob Kopp—I'm going to be doing the show in installments, cos three hours of atmosphere might make it difficult to operate machinery.

Passaic River Blues:

@Early Morning in Seoul: two weeks ago Joe McGasko played a Korean folk cover of "Scarborough Fair" from 1970 that was outrageously good. The album cover can be seen here: www.wfmu.org...

The name of the group was listed as "Tuwa e Muwa" but I don't think that's an accurate rendering. If you ever come across this record in your record-buying journeys, consider checking it out.

Early Morning in Seoul:

@Passaic River Blues - looks like a greatest hits from 뚜와 에 무와 (I think it is meant more like "Toi et Moi"). Don't know if I'd have the budget to get it. Their albums are super expensive: http://www.lptown.co.kr/product/category.php?Field=artist&Mode=search&String=%B6%D1%BF%CD%BF%A1%B9%AB%BF%CD%20(Toi%20et%20Moi) ~$100-$200!

@Early Morning in Seoul: thank you for the information! I agree--for $200, I'd forego the vinyl and stick with a CD.
