annie:

haha,... mary i am SO hating firefox lately.... it's the only browser i'm willing to use.. i hate chrome, safari is busted after five minutes.. .. yadda yadda... i'll settle for firefox.. i got the latest update.. and the stupid thing sucks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
Gary:

I'm sort of stuck with Chrome
Avatar 7:46pm
Mary Wing:

I have to use Chrome for my work emails, because when I reply to someone's email, Firefox will not add the text of their email to my reply, ugh! This is a problem with the adblock extensions, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
Gary:

Yeah, I use Chrome largely because of a long-standing gig where everyone uses Google docs
Avatar 7:47pm
annie:

oh, i use adblocker for safari and ff, no issues whatsoever.. unless........... maybe that why ff has been f---ing up so much lately.. who the hell knows!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Gary:

I wish the damned iPhone had adblocker -- I almost can't click on anyone's link in FB or Twitter b/c so many of them have a ridiculous amount of pop up ads that it can be impossible to navigate

Pleurisy & Rickets were an old-school British comedy act that showed up on American TV variety shows in the 60s....right? Shoulda been...right?

Speaking of porn...which is not the typical intro here in the comments...I heard an anecdote today with a porn connection. Georgina Spelvin, star of Devil In Miss Jones, was also, under a different name, a Broadway dancer and did choreography for a local musical operation near here a few decades ago. While she was working in rehearsal at this theater, the cops came and hauled her off for some offense...obscenity related or parking tickets, who knows?

northguineahills:

Someone tried to con me today. I was merging w/ a larger street, and a truck went by. The woman in front of me then slammed on the brakes as soon as the coast was clear. Thankfully, I was in neutral and going 1-2 mph. I only knew we touched b/c of physical proximity. She insisted on calling the police "for her insurance". There wasn't even a scratch (I have photographic evidence). She even told me to not approach her car (as I was asking when were the cops showing up), as that would be assault on my part. I then asked which jurisdiction did she call (she was on the phone the whole time), and she didn't know. So, I called the local PD, and they had our 'incident' report. 75 minutes later, the cop shows up. He sees not a scratch, and the lady was asking for an EMT. When he said that may take 30-minutes, she thought well enough to drive off. I got a citation, but the cop, in his bureaucraceese, sort of winked at me to go to court and he's be there to testify, and she'd probably not show up. Why would someone try to scam someone else like that. Now, I need to call my insurance, call for a court appointment, or face a $160 fine and points off my license. Oh, and I was late coming back to work from my lunch break.

Gary:

Coelacanth! NGH! I have a story about that, too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm
Gary:

@NGH I was a supervisor at a legal document entry place in the late 1980s and one of the cases we had was this huge class action thing against this doctor that saw people who would get in these fake accidents and "document" their injuries, which were all fake
Avatar 9:47pm
northguineahills:

Yeah, you'd think she'd make sure the next time she slams on her brakes that the person behind her was going 30km+, not 1-2kmh
Avatar 9:47pm
northguineahills:

Asher Senator, how did I miss this back then, the mid-90s is when i first got into jungle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm
coelacanth∅:

ngh that sucks.
-now you know if it were to happen again to insist the vehicles never touched, if there's no evidence; and threaten to take her to civil court. if she doesn't give it up then and the cops still are called, maybe you wouldn't get the citation.
Avatar 9:53pm
still b/p:

Evil ? Troubled? The brake job makes it seem all deliberate. But maybe it was a rapid scurvy schemey reflex in the moment....like people who jump aboard a bus immediately after it's had an accident. Hope its cleared with minimal headaches.
A friend of mine often keeps a dashcam recording during routine driving, like all them Russians do, just in case, just in case.
Avatar 9:54pm
northguineahills:

Yeah, I told the cop, when he asked me how fast I was going, I replied, "1-2mph". He said, "20-32 mph!", and I had to correct him, I even gave a detailed account how me and the car in front of me was waiting for a truck to pass us so we could merge. But, I believe, the cop has my back on this one. I have a bad problem of not being able to lie (except to ignore the inquiries into my friends's secrets).
Avatar 9:57pm
northguineahills:

still b/p: In hindsight, that seems like a good idea, my car was barely rolling, and the bumpers barely kissed. every other time people get out of the car, see there's no damage, and move on. The fact she braked suddenly when it was all clear should have been my first red flag.
Avatar 9:57pm
hyde:

thanks Gary!
