we're aging fast, friends. enjoy while you can.
  Thu. 12/8/16 3:43pm Dean:

The BBC obit makes the Crimson connection in the headline, relegates ELP to the body of the article. And Rolling Stone puts "Karn Evil 9" on the Tarkus album.

I'm aging like a fine vinegar.

@Linda - Exactly, that's why when musicians I'm fan of that are getting up in age are coming to my area, I now make it a priority to go. So I'll be seeing Jose Feliciano and Pharoah Sanders in the not-to-distant future.

The Space Age was my Toddlerhood. It was Exploration & Adventure rather than cell phone satellites & Richard Branson or something - tho' this is a golden age for Astronomy. Now I know they were RocketJocks - but they went up military crewcut heads & came down cosmic philosophers. Thx for squeezing into that capsule & being an Inspiration Senator Glenn.
Oh - RIP Greg Lake. I love 'Brain Salad Surgery' & you can sue me - but King Crimson - jewel in the crown, you know...@Dean: All as one would expect, then...VP: Word man. Word.

Avatar    Thu. 12/8/16 3:45pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

TARKUS is the only ELP product permitted within the hallowed halls of the Druid cave, mostly for sentimental reasons (as in, age 12). A very fine KC choice, here.
  Thu. 12/8/16 3:46pm Dean:

I think word wasn't out yet, coelacanth. Or he hadn't yet died.

I know somebody whose brother's name is ... Tarkus.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 12/8/16 3:54pm Cecile:

this bit right here probably birthed the Residents.
  Thu. 12/8/16 3:55pm Dean:

"science is young, ignorance is very old." Yes and no. Lately I've been reading history of 12th century Western philosophy. The reason vs. authority debate was alive then, with vigorous argument in favor of the superiority of reason. At the time, of course, "science" was still magic, cosmology, and clever (sometimes brilliantly so) spinning of words. But still.
Avatar    Thu. 12/8/16 3:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This set reminds me I haven't been able to hit Coulter's show in ages. Must have thought he was off the Drummer schedule...

Avatar    Thu. 12/8/16 3:58pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

thx NGH: I think the re-design of WFMU's homepage threw me at first: it used to be way up front, or more obvious somehow to idiots like myself. Good news.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 12/8/16 3:58pm coelacanth∅:

until their reputation was soiled in 1981 king crimson was the best thing prog had to offer. (i think some of the best music in general...)
...there are several very good elp tracks too though, in my shitty opinion.
  Thu. 12/8/16 4:01pm Dean:

Still waiting for Fripp to remaster and reissue with outtakes "The Test of the Emergency Release System."
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 12/8/16 4:02pm Ike:

Drummer stream shows' live playlists don't get enough prominence with the new homepage design. Used to be if there was a live show, its current song was there displayed right away, no clicking on anything necessary. Now you have to click on "Drummer" to see it. Bummer for Drummer. I bet fewer tune in.
Avatar    Thu. 12/8/16 4:04pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ike: that's definitely it, in my case. At least now there's a wealth of archives to plunder. His TAPE HISS shows were/are magical beasts.

Having gone thru a site redesign at the ol' day job, I totally understand how such re-designs are universally disliked, no matter what. It's a cursed job. There's a lot I dig about the FMU refresh, but the lack of prominence w/the Drummer stream is a downer...

coel, I do like Discipline a lot. The later stuff, not so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 12/8/16 4:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

They presented their reasoning for the homepage redo - & it makes sense - & some of it's good
- but if you want to see the Schedules for the other Streams - it's in the dropdowns for 'Listening' - not 'Programming'. I understand pairing the Stream Links w/ their Schedules - but I file it under 'you only know if you know'...
If you want to
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 12/8/16 4:19pm coelacanth∅:

Rev.TD, it also has too much going on, so it's slow to load.

Cecile, i was so excited and asked for discipline for xmas. i wanted to and tried to but it just didn't seem to have any depth, like the KC i was used to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 12/8/16 4:20pm chris:

many, in this interwebs day and age, simply go to the search bar... i did and typed 'drummer' and the first result was the stream schedule... very quick... but this is a trend of those in the google age, and i needed to learn it from a young'n
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 12/8/16 4:22pm coelacanth∅:

Rev.R i know there are "cross-platform" reasons for the design, but i think the 2-3 clicks to get to somewhere that should be reached by 1 click is is poor design.
