That would be a flat-head screwdriver. A classic.
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 3:19pm Cecile:

I did my interactive PDF presentation on Dio last week, and one page was a whole bunch of TV sets with little video links in them of him being interviewed, performing, in the Tenacious D movie, etc, and I turned them on all at once, and then proceeded to turn each one off. The kids loved it.
  Thu. 4/14/16 3:19pm DrNarcoTheIntelligentSponge:

I'm tripping on coffee and cacophony

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 4/14/16 3:21pm JP from KC:

We are now playing over The Animals. Fabulous. This must be what Rocky Erickson hears all the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Thu. 4/14/16 3:21pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Very creative, Cecile. I don't suppose you have it online anywhere, do you?
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 3:21pm Cecile:

I have to tidy it up, but I will probably put it up on some makeshift web thing this summer.
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 3:22pm Cliff:

Now I need to bring up some Dio on Youtube to play with the two streams
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 3:22pm Cecile:

I also did a heavy metal height chart with Dio, Halford and James Hetfield. When you clicked on them, they made their trademark noises.

For Tony Conrad

Shiny boots of leather (thud)
Vexing music of eternal (thud)
Pythagorean blood (thwack)
And microtonal mud (thud)

A glimpse into forever (pound)
Takes us there together (sound)
Behind the vail to see (flop)
Glorious monotony (stop)

Enervate the mass (slap)

Silence now you roar (break)

brainiac, wonderful.
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 3:24pm Cecile:

Like I said, I have to fix it up a little. Then I have to get a website. And stuff.
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 3:25pm Cecile:

at the end, I had a couple little icons, and a little TV that would play "Stars", the heavy metal we are the world that Dio the band put together. I made them listen up to the point where Ronnie sings "Who cries for the children? I do!"

the story about the ostrich was the musicians were asked to tune their string instruments to one note ... maybe that is a reason why they are not seperatatable by listening.

Hey Cliff,thanks for link!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 4/14/16 4:15pm mrdonutsu:

Charlemagne Palestine came and presented some of his early black and white videos to an experimental media and culture program I was in at the Evergreen State College in WA - back in 1986. One the professors, a guy named Beryl Crowe - a rather harassed Marcuse devotee who I respected very much - was definitely not impressed. "More like Charlatan Palestine," he muttered. Haha!
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 4:19pm geezerette:

Phenomenology and collaboration among disciplines were very of the moment in the late 60's-mid 70's. Post hippy but zen and acid had been consumed by a lot of these people in the years before the works were made.
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 4:19pm northguineahills:

The first time I took my wife to see Tony, she fell in love w/ him and immediately got really into minimalism. I believe it was 2010ish.
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 4:20pm northguineahills:

I had a Tony poster I got back in the 90s. Some ex ripped up all of my posters in 2006 :(
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 4:21pm geezerette:

God Fabio what a great show. Really appreciate your generosity.

Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 4:28pm northguineahills:

That Edley character is quite the sleeve designer as well.

As an aside, I remember reading in the 90s that Kevin Shields loved "Flicker".

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 4/14/16 5:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I think my ignorance of Tony Conrad was probably total.
...Checking my VelvetUnderground box set booklet for info...here it is in total - are you ready?:

...'A chance meeting w/ somebody-who-knew-somebody else @ Pickwick netted Cale & Dream Syndicate violinist Tony Conrad (a seminal experimental music figure in his own right) a quick-buck gig as the Primitives w/ Lou Reed...Angus MacLise, another LaMonte Young associate w/ deep connections in underground film & art (he also happened to live in the same building as Cale & Conrad), became the drummer'...

- & perhaps that's as it should be - but sounds to me like he shared more than an address w/ Cale...
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 5:37pm TDK60:

Does this remind me of Glenn Branca?
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 5:37pm Cecile:

yes, it does.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 4/14/16 5:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Lee Renaldo & Thurston went thru Branca. Did O'Rourke?
Avatar Thu. 4/14/16 5:38pm geezerette:

There's a much loved assemblage artist here who used to do occasional performances and made music like this with a garden hose.Played it like a trumpet and it sounded like violin. George Hermes. Nearly last Beat standing.

"...Failure of urban mass transprtation systems." People are really getting fed up, their support for Bernie and Trump is a sign of this.
