William Burroughs is a distinctly American voice.

Sometimes essence of seafood can go w/ beer, I grind up dried shrimp and put a pinch of it in my micheladas. Seems like a waste of lobster.

Haha! I dunno!
I love shellfish, and I like beer... I'm not so sure about this combo, though. I guess I would taste it. But I don't think I'd commit to drinking a whole one off the bat.

@ccmbr: I'm afraid of running out of ham.
Avatar Thu. 7/23/15 4:55pm Claw!:

Yeah, Jake. There are levels of height fear for me. Rollercoasters with tall drops? Not a problem. Looking down from a tall ledge? Terrifying.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 7/23/15 4:56pm steve:

i've been working to get over my fear of heights for the past few years, and have been slowly but surely conquering NYCs most terrifying bridge walkways one by one.

Avatar Thu. 7/23/15 4:59pm Cecile:

I was ?
Avatar Thu. 7/23/15 5:00pm JakeGould:

FWIW, on 9-11 I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan since some friends were still there and I thought I could help in some way. Of course I got turned back and walked back to the other side. But for months after that I would have panic attacks walking across any bridge anywhere. It took about 4-5 walks over bridges for me to finally shake that off.
Avatar Thu. 7/23/15 5:00pm V Priceless:

good for you, steve - heights is a big prob here too. Sure wish it wasn't - I think it's more of a 'close to the edge' thing though (no, not the record).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 7/23/15 5:00pm Mike East:

I'm afraid of anger and confrontation.
Avatar Thu. 7/23/15 5:00pm Cecile:

oh, yeah, and I have a fear of heights. Although anti-anxiety meds have helped.
  Thu. 7/23/15 5:01pm ccmbr:

I am afraid of mean coworkers, like they will put me in a bad social situation, but if I don't mind feeling awkward then a lot of that fear is removed.
Avatar Thu. 7/23/15 5:02pm Claw!:

Jake, now that you mention it, driving over large bodies of water on bridges does make me very nervous as well.
  Thu. 7/23/15 5:02pm ccmbr:

haha Claw! Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 7/23/15 5:06pm steve:

VP - with the fear of heights / close to the edge thing... it baffles me how many bridge walkways have guard rails that are only waist high, trying to be rational, i cannot understand how people aren't accidentally falling over the edges all the time. seems like it would be pretty easy to trip and go fall over the rail, especially on a bike
Avatar Thu. 7/23/15 5:08pm Claw!:

I think we've all been there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Thu. 7/23/15 5:09pm Ken From Hyde Park:

This piece is one of my favorite sound works ever. Enormous yay.
Avatar Thu. 7/23/15 5:15pm Claw!:

DDP - I used to be TERRIFIED of roaches. Then I (unknowingly, of course) moved into a house infested with them. Fixed that shit right away. If I had held onto that fear, I would have literally gone insane. I had never seen that many roaches in one place before, and I've stayed with family in Latin America...
Advion and Invict roach gel are gifts from the gods. Cleared up the problem completely in less than two weeks. Incredible.

Avatar Thu. 7/23/15 5:21pm Claw!:

@RevRab - I couldn't even smoosh a roach back in my phobic days! Just the thought of the *crunch* sent me into a panic. But now? I will grab the nearest shoe or whatever and smash those fuckers. Fortunately, I haven't had to do that in quite some time. Gotta hand it to em, though - they are some tenacious critters.

@ steve - I agree 100% on the bridge railing issue - same holds true for cars on some bridges where guard rails seem almost non-existent.

Agreed on kid front too - still too much of a child to have any competition here.
