Hark, use Mr. Oizo as a starting point. I've found good stuff just asking DJs here, and on *cough* Pandora and Amazon by looking at the recommendations. Also looking at Mr Oizo's influences in articles can help as well.

@rsj you're thinking of Bob Barker. he was the host of Wheel of Fortune.

Could someone define "nimrod" for the benefit of non-US listeners?

Yeah breaking down PC barriers... I'm all about that, but it has to at least be funny and worth it.

I agree with Cecile - I can see that it's satire, but it didn't work for me because misogynist points of view aren't inherently comical. It would need to be more subtle.

Oh, I get it now!

I'd forgotten how ridiculously hectic DG's guitar work was. This was one of several sonic backdrops to my student years - don't think I've heard this tune since, but still seem to know most of the words.

Yes, indeed--hectic, frantic. Quite the opposite of the Relaxed DJ. Nice juxtaposition.

  11:35am

You never know what they're really saying in Finnish--maybe they're spewing some hateful racist vitriol, and we're all head bobbing and grooving to it!

When I was in college in I worked at a nice little coffee shop/bistro owned by the guy who owned the record store upstairs. About a year into it he started putting on shows at night. He had R.E.M. in there, and I remember seeing Eugene Chadbourne playing an electric rake. And one night, I saw the Gun Club doing "She's Like Heroin to Me." They were great. I think this is the first time I've heard that song since that night.
