Options Brian Turner: Playlist from August 12, 2014 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 8/12/14 3:39pm sphere:

Shockwave Riderz--what a great name for a band. And they rock!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 8/12/14 3:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@sphere: SciFi novel - discussed here :
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 3:42pm northguineahills:

If I was working, I'd use the excuse of leaving early to go see Motley Crue, hell, if someone gave me tickets, I'd go (I obviously haven't lived in NYC long enough to know what I'd be getting into).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 8/12/14 3:46pm DCE:

ah you couldn't pay me to go there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Tue. 8/12/14 3:46pm BDR:

That NNB - was that David Thomas or just a guy who sounded like David Thomas?
Avatar 🎃 Tue. 8/12/14 3:49pm Sem Chumbo:

So, about this Complete band Brian and Duane are gaga about. I would say they would be hard to listen to, except I own and play that John Gavanti CD quite often, so I can't say they are all that unlistenable.

Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:33pm Cecile:

yes, it's kind of great in a dislocatated mathrock kind of way
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:33pm Cheri Pi:

It sounds like the Buzzcocks and Ween together huffing gas.
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:34pm Cecile:

oh! It's Doc Dart's band. From the Crucifucks.

Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:36pm Cecile:

is the rest of the album this good (weird), Brian? Or just this track.
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:37pm Cecile:

Lansing's finest. But I never saw them back in the day.
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:39pm Cheri Pi:

That new song reminded me too much of Primus to listen to it with an open mind.
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:40pm Cecile:

I wsa gonna say, what if Primus WEREN'T horrible?
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:43pm Cheri Pi:

LOL...I'll give it another try though, I'm just not down w/ the "Mr. Bungle" sound everyone but me seems to like.
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:45pm Cecile:

I hate Mr. Bungle. I was just all over that guitar player, and who-I-now-know-as-Doc-Dart's unhinged vocals. They sounded really loose and really strange. That doesn't happen that often
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:46pm Cheri Pi:

Agreed about his vocals, I'll listen again.
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:47pm Cecile:

and it's OK to hate it. hahahahaha
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:48pm Cheri Pi:

I hate some of it, which is intriguing.

Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 4:56pm Cecile:

what's Byron going to be playing? Davy Jones tambourine?
  Tue. 8/12/14 4:58pm P-90:

The Cars did "borrow" from other new bands back in the day.
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 5:01pm Cecile:

you know what would go great after this? Complete!
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 5:03pm Brian Turner:

I think Gary Panter is in Byron's trio.
Avatar Tue. 8/12/14 5:10pm Cecile:

I get it, so Alvarius B and Byron won't be playing together. Just sharing a bill
