Every show a constellation!
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 2:15pm Doug Schulkind:

My favorite passage from Zimmer's obit in today's NYT:

When Tampa Bay was trailing the Yankees, 7-0, in the sixth inning of their final game of the 2011 regular season, needing a victory for a wild-card playoff spot, Zimmer left the Rays' bench to head home. Halfway there, he realized that he had not said goodbye to the players, turned his car around and got back to Tropicana Field in time to see the Rays rally for an 8-7 victory to overtake the Red Sox for a playoff berth. Zimmer was still in the clubhouse at 2 a.m., when the celebration finally wound down. "I'm 80 years old, and I thought I was playing," he told The Charlotte Sun of Port Charlotte, Fla. “This matches everything. It's crazy, it's beautiful, it's baseball."

-----------

It's crazy, it's beautiful, it's baseball.
—Don Zimmer

Fucking beautiful.

Vin Scully's in-game remembrance of Zim from last night was really great.

Listening to your show compelled me to "like" an ad for Old Bay Seasoning on Facebook. What's the correlation?
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 2:28pm Matt F:

This show is the aural equivalent of getting crabs?
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 2:30pm MattBelow:

Do you have a budget going into the fair Fiveash?
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 2:30pm Nate K:

Let's call it "ordering crabs," okay?
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 2:31pm Parq:

Judging from all the Record Fair shows being aired this week, I'd say you guys are your own best customers.
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 2:34pm still b/p:

I was looking forward to this show since this morning, and then I missed most of the first set. Is there a word for that?
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 2:43pm Uncle Michael:

Screwed.

I'll always remember Pedro grabbing Zimmer's bald head and tossing him to the ground. That was insane!
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 2:49pm Doug Schulkind:

Hey Matt, I bet Obamacare will cover the cost of some 45s! Just put them down as "vinyl medication"!
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 2:49pm Matt F:

Pedro was just doing what all Red Sox fans have wanted to do since 1978.
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 2:52pm Uncle Michael:

Committing violence on a septuagenarian? I guess Pedro was pretty invested in the '78 team.
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 2:52pm Monica:

an evil bumble bee!
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:02pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello everybody. Today's show is proving a direct correlation between being kickass and lack of teeth! Nice to see you ( or whatever's left of you) @RF,Matt.
  Thu. 6/5/14 3:03pm drr:

"The Itch" is song #2 in The Stacks' current set.
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 3:04pm Matt F:

Nice! Definitely need a caveman drummer for that one...
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 3:05pm Matt F:

By the way, all-purpose greetings to all of you!
  Thu. 6/5/14 3:05pm drr:

Love those coveriginals no one's ever heard of....I don't think the guys in the band have even heard it.
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:14pm listener james from westwood:

Weirdly, I disappeared down a Popeye Wikipedia rabbit hole last night. I liked the detail that the first voice of Popeye was dismissed b/c he was "difficult to work with." I can only imagine this entailed eating spinach and beating people up in the studio.
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:19pm Uncle Michael:

Any Gerbil songs, Matt?
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:24pm Uncle Michael:

Matt, which of these records that wasn't free, cost you the least?
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 3:30pm Matt F:

I can't remember. It was a frenzied blur...
  Thu. 6/5/14 3:35pm Hackensack Slim:

Hey Matt,
Hope your healing and feeling better. Just read the Zimmer obit in the NYT. Of course they left out his best all time quote. "Bucky Fucking Dent".
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:37pm listener james from westwood:

Always sad "Out of Limits" didn't make it onto the "Pulp Fiction" soundtrack along w the other surf cuts.
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:39pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Ay Captain!
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 3:40pm Jeff Golick:

Greetings, one and all, and Matt.

Still got my Sox game programs from '77. Zimmer on one cover. What a mug.
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 3:41pm Slater:

Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:49pm Monica:

nice bacon sizzle on those 7"s, matt!
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 3:51pm Doug Schulkind:

Hot Shot Love's first name was Coy. His name was Coy Love. And now, here is a poem by Michael Drayton titled "To His Coy Love":

I pray thee, leave, love me no more,
Call home the heart you gave me!
I but in vain that saint adore
That can but will not save me.
These poor half-kisses kill me quite—
Was ever man thus served?
Amidst an ocean of delight
For pleasure to be starved?

Show me no more those snowy breasts
With azure riverets branched,
Where, whilst mine eye with plenty feasts,
Yet is my thirst not stanched;
O Tantalus, thy pains ne’er tell!
By me thou art prevented:
‘Tis nothing to be plagued in Hell,
But thus in Heaven tormented.

Clip me no more in those dear arms,
Nor thy life’s comfort call me,
O these are but too powerful charms,
And do but more enthral me!
But see how patient I am grown
In all this coil about thee:
Come, nice thing, let my heart alone,
I cannot live without thee!
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:55pm Parq:

Had we but world enough and time, this coyness, lady, were no crime. But I have to get you home by eleven, so get in the back seat already.
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 3:58pm northguineahills:

Thanks Matt!
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:58pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks for the mighty stack of 45s, Matt!
Avatar    Thu. 6/5/14 3:59pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks for the stuff, Matt. It was good stuff.
Avatar Thu. 6/5/14 4:01pm Matt F:
