I've been wanting to hear Basic House, and the sound matches the description. I need to get it!

Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 9:30am Liz Berg:

Hi Risky, Yair, Chris, common, and doca! Good to see everyone here. Hope the folks in the U.S. are experiencing the healing powers of the end of daylight savings time.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 9:36am Ken From Hyde Park:

Nice to have the sun up earlier, for sure, but it's less fun to see it getting dark around 5PM. The trees are sure pretty these days.
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 9:39am tim from champaign:

Howdy folks!
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 9:48am glenn:

Hello to them from the land of milk and crack.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 9:50am Liz Berg:

Did everyone have a good halloween? I celebrated early... my Glenn Danzig costume was indeed scary!
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 9:51am KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello all. Yup, going to work in daylight makes sunglare & early darkness almost worth it. But that's nothing that migrating to the southern hemisphere couldn't cure!
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 9:59am tim from champaign:

Yep, I had a good time on Halloween. Too good of a time in fact. My wife wore a dusted grey afro wig and dressed as Art Professor Emeritus. Then as the good times rolled, she turned into King Buzzo.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 10:00am Ken From Hyde Park:

My kids & I had a great Halloween. She dressed as a human taco and he was the Grim Reaper: "I've come to harvest your souls...and candy." We left a bowl of fruit gushers on the porch while we were out, but no one took any.
  Mon. 11/4/13 10:02am Jay:

as the producer says in 'Mulholland Drive' - "excellent choice"!
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 10:02am Lewis:

Ramone's sound alikes?
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 10:10am Lewis:

any connection between Old Mates and Silver Jews? (I am hearing things this morning...)
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 10:17am Liz Berg:

No Silver Jews connection with Old Mate that I know of... There is very little info on the Old Mate single, though.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 10:20am Lewis:

thanks Liz! I am just jumping around today I suppose...
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 10:21am Whosondephone:

Does anyone hear some distortion on the FM broadcast? Sounds like over-modulation or poor compression
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 10:23am Liz Berg:

Good ear, Whosondephone! We're having issues at 91.1 FM, and we're on our backup transmitter this morning.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 10:30am Whosondephone:

Thanks for the heads up. This station has been sounding so great lately I was getting worried.
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 10:34am Chris M.:

great show today Liz!
  Mon. 11/4/13 10:37am will:

I would call this current set of music "mind-bending."
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 10:44am northguineahills:

Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 10:44am MD:

HELLO...
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 10:45am tim from champaign:

This song (Viime Yona) is like the Funhouse version of the crappy county fair Matterhorn ride.

I'm with ngh..moar yodelling!
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 10:45am MD:

Yodels!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your kitty, Liz. That's scary. Hope the kitty keeps getting better.

You can go as Mark Arm next Halloween.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:08am Liz Berg:

Thanks Tim, yeah, that was a super dramatic cat episode. Never seen anything like it! Mark Arm is a good idea!
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:08am Malcolm:

This song is groovy
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:09am tim from champaign:

I'd be a wreck if one of my kitties was having a hard time.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:09am Whosondephone:

Squash!
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:19am Mike East:

morning, folks!
Any ideas how to get a drop of melted wax off of a vinyl record without scratching it?
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:24am Liz Berg:

That's a good riddle, Mike East. Sorry I can't be of help, but there's gotta be a way. To get melted wax off of fabric, you put a paper towel one top and iron it... but as you can see, there is a fatal flaw with using that approach on vinyl.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:30am Mike East:

Yes, quite a conundrum. Its right on top of my favorite track on "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", too. Don't even know how it happened...not sure if I should blame the wife or kids.
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:33am northguineahills:

The melting point of wax is slightly lower then vinyl, so, it's a delicate operation.
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:33am Malcolm:

I'm finding it quite hard not to dance to this music
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:34am tim from champaign:

Mike - I'm friends with the folks in media preservation. I'll email them and get back to you.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:39am doca:

Liz, I was half asleep so I missed it, but what's the name of that french song you played in the last set or the set before it?
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:40am doca:

You're program now begins at noon for me, so I'll be mixing it with my post-lunch nap (yay!) during the summer
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:40am Chris from DC:

Melt Banana in DC tonight. Been waiting for that one a while.
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:45am tim from champaign:

@ Mike East - here's one response: "My initial thought is hot enough water to melt the wax, but not enough to affect the vinyl and give a bit of pressure with a lint-free cloth to remove the softened wax ; avoid getting the label area wet"
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:45am Liz Berg:

doca, the French song was La Femme "It's Time to Wake Up." That whole album is fantastic!
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:46am Mike East:

Thanks, tim!!
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:54am mariano:

"Worries on my mind, always getting high?" They're singing about my life!
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:57am northguineahills:

Thanks Liz!
Avatar Mon. 11/4/13 11:58am Matt W:

Great show Liz! Kept me sane whilst watching my two nephews...
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:58am doca:

thanks, Liz, I'll search it later. And thanks for the wonderful show!
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 11:59am Snortley:

Hope the main 91.1 transmitter gets fixed soon. Signal strength in Brooklyn is extremely low. Listening on the web instead.
Avatar    Mon. 11/4/13 12:00pm Ike:
