I like Halloween & think it’s different than Christmas because kids have the freedom to do what they want. And nobody dresses like a slut for Christmas.

I'm really more into the Velvets than much of Lou solo, but
I'm a huge fan of both of course. Turned out Sterling Morrison graduated from my high school. But I was class o' 86 myself.
Good God. Nobody in my class would have known Lou or
the Velvets..they were more into goddamned hair metal
and Def Leppard,Van halen and stuff.

PBS has an American Masters on Lou Reed they've been showing. It's worthy, for a one-hour TV show thing - makes the point he brought Raymond Chandler & Burroughs sensibilities into the Rock form. & the Velvets created the whole idea of Alternative Rock in the 1st place in a very real sense - & nobody here is unaffected by *that*...I mean - in the sense like Dylan single-handedly brought Poetry to Rock when there was none before - True - & Not True...

- American Masters debuts a Hendrix episode Tuesday; reviews say it's not much that's new, but it's done well...

Had never heard of Riddle of the Sphinx until now. I wasn't knocked out by the Soft Machine but this score sounds really awesome! All synth etc. Much more into this.
Right, just watched The AMasters PBs on Lou again the other night on YTube, I have my vhs copy of that somewhere from orig. broadcast. a relic already!

@Scott Briggs, exactly. I graduated HS in 1986. Listening to the B-52s & Devo made you “weird” and Jim Morrison was “deep.” College taught me about the Velvets.
