Greenfield has its merits. It used to have one of the best record stores ever. It has a nice co-op grocery store. A decent salvation army. Other good stuff like that.

SeanG, I am a big fan of Western Mass. Amherst is nice, Northampton, Florence (maybe you'll run into Thurston Moore), etc. In the woods are nice towns like Montague, Leverett, Wendell, etc.
