Billy Jam:

hey EONS -hey TIMMIIII hello Other David - This music represents a certain time in the history of the Bay mostly Oakland and SF - the end of the 80;s when crack had messed up Oakland l- hence all the references to the demon drug - It was also a time before the Bay blew up in terms of rap - it was about to- at this stage Hammer and Short were big - and Digital Underground were blowing up too...Paris just got signed to Tommy boy so the release I play here is on his own indie label Scarface Records -

Billy Jam:

At this time as well as doing a radio show dedicated to this music I was also writing for magazines about this music (Bay Area rap) and starting to do rap TV shows too - I totally emersed myself in Bay Area rap world - interviewing all of these artists been played today and many more and getting all the music including tons of demo tapes and great recordings that never made it....-Hence if I had to pick only one genre of music that I totally relate to - the one closest to my heart out of all genres - this would be it. Hell yeah I HEART BAY RAP
  7:30pm
