  1:11pm

Doug Sahm? He was that guy in Santana that started Journey, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm
Fiveash:

This Mikey, he's another one.
  1:14pm

  1:17pm
Stinky:

Hippies play the blues!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm
Fiveash:

Mikey, no way! Cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
Fiveash:

Stinky, shut up.
  1:20pm
Amanda:

Doug Sahm liked to tell everybody what to do, give the peace sign, and drink Stoli blueberry and diet Sprite.
  1:21pm
Stinky:

I wanna do my own thing too! Just like Doug Sahm!
  1:23pm
Tom:

A steady diet of junk diner food led to Doug's early grave.
  1:24pm
Mikey:

C'Mon Amanda, don't be such a dum-dum. Mr. Sahm ONLY used diet 7-Up in his Stoli Blueberry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
Fiveash:

He was very particular.
  1:27pm
Dominick:

Break out the Lone Stars!
  1:35pm
goofy:

I still have to read the little richard tell-all, but have you read "the chitlin' circuit and the road to rock'n'roll"? I recommend it to you and all you other schmoes reading this chat here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Fiveash:

Fanks Goofy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm
Fiveash:

Stinky, I'm sorry I told you to shut up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm
Fiveash:

Just kidding. Shut up!
  1:46pm
Stinky:

I read that book! I read the Little Richard book too! They both good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
Fiveash:

Stinky's gonna do a "no-manners"
  1:49pm
goofy:

The Little Richard chapter exploded my brain! James Brown standing in for Richard, the hardest working man in show business! I had to put the book away for a few days.
  1:49pm
Amanda:

Smells like he already did a no-manners an hour ago
  1:52pm
Tom:

This show is great! I'll have to give it a repeat listening.
  1:54pm
Stinky:

Why don't nobody like me? I know why. I smell like SOOSHY!
  1:58pm
Mikey:

Hey Stinky - One of the interns left a huge steamer in the downstairs bathrom? Get to work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm

Was it an upper-decker?
  2:03pm
Mikey:

  2:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Fiveash, everyone.
  2:15pm
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, Doug Sahm was in the Sir Douglas Quintet. And so was Augie Meyers--loved that "Sugar Blu"!
Never heard of Doug before, so he's a good artist-of-the-month to focus on.
  2:15pm
goofy:

Les Blank's In Heaven, there is no Beer? is a personal favorite of mine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
Fiveash:

Hi Matt.
  2:20pm
Matt from Springfield:

This "Bacon Fat" is also great!
Forget "the Chicken" or "the Fish"--this is the REAL shit! Clog your arteries and do The Bacon Fat!
  2:24pm
Mikey:

Do you think PBS keeps The Iceman locked up in a storage closet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
Fiveash:

Ha!
  2:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

"The original title of the song was "He Will Break Your Heart". It was written by Jerry Butler, Calvin Carter, and Curtis Mayfield. The song was recorded by Butler and released as a single in 1960, where it peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart." Whaddaya know! Thanks for digging this up.
  2:25pm
PBS:

He's in the ICEBOX!
  2:26pm
Matt from Springfield:

I've also seen the Iceman hosting one of those Time-Life album infomercials.

LOL, PBS!
  2:30pm
Gunther Schuller:

Undubbed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
Fiveash:

Jawohl, ist undubt!
  2:32pm
Gunther Schuller:

  2:34pm
listener james from westwood:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
Fiveash:

Hi LJFW! Agreed...
  2:37pm
ken in denver:

Mas cervezas, por favor.
  2:37pm
Matt from Springfield:

YES! Too many tear drops!

Is it true that this "original" version of "96 Tears" has NEVER been released on CD, because of contract disputes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm
Fiveash:

Hey Ken. MFS: Dunno! Sounds like Showbiz to me though.
  2:44pm
Matt from Springfield:

As for me, my copy of "96 Tears" is listed as having come from the "More American Graffiti" soundtrack LP, and sounds like an LP rip. Probably not a very good sequel, but at least it was able to provide me with the original "96 Tears" recording!
  2:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, the director of More American Graffiti was Bill L. Norton--who also directed Cisco Pike! Astonishing coincidence!
  2:47pm
Tom:

Back in the day, I sat thru the movie, Cisco Pike, twice, because of Doug Sahm's appearance!
  2:49pm
Debbie D:

Il Bruce is supposed to do a blog post on Cisco Pike this month.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm
Fiveash:

Wow! Legendary Film Critic Bruce Bennett! That'll be a good one. I'll buy him an IPA.
  2:59pm
Stinky:

GROOVE ON!
  3:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Fiveash!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
Fiveash:

Thanks everybody for all the beautiful vibrations. See you next week.
