Pat in Philadelphia:
Good Morning Scott! I assume you've got the Royal Wedding flu like all of us
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:11am
Scott:
Actually totally blissfully unawares of anything concerning that business, for better or worse.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:12am
ausmanx:
the comments thread for Senor Elbogen was absolutely great, so I hope it continues along here... good morning scott
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:13am
Scott:
Good morning! | |
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:16am
Pat in Philadelphia:
Thank christ! I'm sorry I even brought it up.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:18am
Scott:
Ha, that's ok! Not that I'm not curious. Just ummm not paying attention.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:18am
alan:
Scott, maybe later you can dig up something by John Tchicai....he turned 75 yesterday and still going strong (and he will be performing in Chicago and New York in May.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:19am
Scott:
Ooooh. Now there's a request I like.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:31am
Cecile:
hola! Digging the music from my "home office' today.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:44am
Cecile:
Also, if you could slide some Randy Weston on, that would be aces.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 9:57am
Swami:
Back at the desk, still in a sling and a fog.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:03am
Cecile:
scott, if you put on "The Sky's Ablaze" by Was/Not Was (in their Parliament/free jazz period) soon, you will not regret it.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:04am
Cecile:
Station Manager Ken and anyone in Ann Arbor in '81 can back me up here.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:09am
Mike East:
Good morning, folks! Anybody else have "Bring your daughter to work day"?
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:10am
Cecile:
we had "bring your children to work day". Another reason I'm working at home today...
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:11am
Scott:
Thanks for the tip, Cecile!
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:12am
Cecile:
It starts with a lovely sax line that's very John Tchai like and then just gets kind of surreal.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:13am
BSI:
whee! the pre-spacerock F/i!
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:16am
Mike East:
I wish I had that option, Cecile. Luckily my workplace is kinda fun...we have spinning office chairs and everything. She'll also get an introduction to Steve Reich music coming from the studio, as well as the WFMU that will be forced upon her.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:18am
Cecile:
that sounds like lots of fun. in the 70s, my "go to work with dad" day was watching beakers precipitate and take notes when he had no grad students around. LOL!
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:18am
Cecile:
I was, like, seven. | |
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:20am
BSI:
Bring-your-offspring-to-work was yesterday over here.... Not to be a kneejerk negative nancy (?) but was very thankful for an office door that closes. I'm sure it's a great program but personally, I don't digs the little people.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:21am
bruceleh:
I saw Frank Wright play in London, around 2003 or so, on a business trip. It was in a loft in an old wood-frame house by Oval. The floor was covered with huge firm pillows, and most people laid down on them, including myself. Being horribly jet lagged, I promptly fell asleep, and awoke paranoid that people were staring at me for snoring.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:23am
Cecile:
I think it's important to see what mommy and daddy do, but do it on a Saturday! That's when I'd visit offices. bruceleh, I did that at a Charalambides show at 2 am. Everyone laughed cause my snoring fit into the music. You were probably safe that way, too.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:26am
Chris from DC:
Yes. Eagerly awaiting my copy of Reality Bridge in the mail.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:32am
Mike East:
@BSI, I can understand that. My boss brought his two daughters last week and had the percussion dept. babysit. Not sure what they worked out, but I hope they got paid extra. I'm lucky that mine is well behaved and knows not to bother other people who are working.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:35am
Cecile:
YES. That is the worst. Also people who bring babies and toddlers in! I mean! WHat are they going to get out of that? We had to set an age limit.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:38am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
I had to bring my 10 yr old to work two weeks ago because he was "sick" and no one could watch him. He sat in an empty office all day doing homework or putting his head down.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:39am
BSI:
heh. funny... My place sent an email encouraging the whole thing but very diplomatically suggested that under a certain age, the youngsters may not get much out of the experience. It got a bit loud, with some elves running about making bleat-bleat noises. By the end of the day, looked like much fun was had at the big corporate-size shredder. ... During these times I just keep my sour grunting to myself, & take refuge in headphones fulla FMU. .. and/or an extremely long lunchbreak..
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:40am
Cecile:
DCE, that's so hard. I don't think it's a bad idea for some companies to have in house daycare.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:42am
Cecile:
It was Freedom in the UK, and Arista Freedom in the US. There was tons of brilliants stuff.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:44am
Mike East:
BSI, that sounds awful.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:45am
Scott:
Yeah and reissued as part of the FREE AMERICA series, and originally on AMERICA RECORDS out of France. So yeah, confusing as hell.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:46am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
it beats a boring day at the office though
|
Fri. 4/29/11 10:47am
Cecile:
I got most of mine for next to nothing. Except I passed on Julius Hemphill's Coon Bid'ness, and ended up paying stupid amounts of money for it. Tim Berne says he most likely will never be able to get the rights for that for a legit re-release.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:01am
pierre:
Bonjour Scott Joyeux Anniversaire !
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:11am
Scott:
Why thank you, Pierre. | |
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:12am
pierre:
sorry, wasn't that your birthday recently ? if not i'm sorry, if yes, i wish the best !
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:13am
Scott:
No, but thanks anyway! | |
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:20am
Scott:
"why from something so excelent to something so miseralbe ? " Anybody feel like taking this one? :)
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:22am
Deaf Guy:
I don't know. I can't tell the difference between the two.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:24am
Handsome Harry:
This is totally killin' it. Best part of my morning thus far. Naysayers be damned.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:27am
Mike East:
Reminds me of the Grizzly Man soundtrack. Sounds good...is that all acoustic or are they running through amps?
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:28am
Scott:
All acoustic. | |
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:37am
Mike East:
Thats awesome. Some of it sounds like feedback. Very cool.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 11:52am
Cecile:
Just lovely, Scott! | |
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:07pm

|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:08pm

|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:10pm
Scott:
HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS ISN'T BRYCE
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:11pm

Fri. 4/29/11 12:18pm
Scott:

|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:19pm
Scott:
I don't ask questions, man!
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:19pm
Scott:
This stuff gives me the willies.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:19pm
?:
He's like that. | |
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:22pm
KevinfromBayRidge:
Talk about the willies... Bryce has an "enforcer"!
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:22pm
Ike:
If I'd known that Bryce'd play something on the extreme low-end that barely comes across over the Internet, I would've stayed home to listen to the FM signal.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:24pm
G:
It sounds like my basement when no washing machines or dryers are running, only the boiler.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:26pm
Jean Michel Jarre & a Hobo:
It sounds like my radio when Bryce comes on.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:26pm
G:
That, too, duh. | |
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:26pm
Parq:
Okay, based on what the rest of you are saying, I am discarding the idea that this is some sort of tech problem. I will not attempt to adjust my set, as they say.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:28pm
Jean Michel Jarre & a Hobo:
Scott, if that's really you and not Bryce, tell us the last 4 digits of your SS number and your mother's maiden name.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:28pm
G:
Yes, leave your poor set alone, and adjust your cerebral cortex.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:30pm
Ike:
OK, *now* this sounds like something on the Internet. Wow. OK then. Nice. But for Chrissakes, put up your own goddamned playlist, you dirty hippie. This isn't funny anymore.
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:31pm
G:
fussy fussy fussy | |
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:33pm
Matt:
Hey - it was well worth the wait. I'm in string quartet bliss
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:33pm
Ike:
<wails and throws an abacus across the room>
|
Fri. 4/29/11 12:35pm
