Charmichael - I was just thinking the same thing. I know the front man for them was in some other band, but I can't think of the name. The band was in the movie "Class Act" (a kid n' play movie) they played at the very end of it.

Todd 76%:

I wonder if anyone's ever documented the influence of CTI Records in the 70's (Bob James, Grover Washington, Hubert Laws, Freddy Hubbard, Don Sebesky et al) on hip hop and R&B. Samples and reworkings of tunes from that catalog are everywhere in 80's and 90's hip hop/R&B/D&B. Reviled by 'serious jazzheads' of the time, they mostly sound great now. Thanks for the brill jams as usual, Billy!!!
  5:17pm
Paul:

Yo Bill gotta jet be in contact soon. Yo Alf thanks for the Quest link will check it out later. Have a good one. Peace, One Love
  5:17pm

  5:21pm
Timi Dz... Nutz:

Hey All...Great Show today.!.! but i gota go....
  5:25pm
Todd 76%:

@ngh: bizzare and cool that he put out recordings on both ESP and CTI, innit?
  5:34pm
Cecile:

I remember how CTI used to just get slagged as well as more r 'n' b laced works by Gato Barbieri. It put me off them, but later, not seeing them as pure jazz records but great funk and pop records, they stood up really well.
  5:45pm
Cecile:

ah, Dilla
  5:46pm
Ike:

Wow, what's Liz reading there?
  5:49pm
Jessica:

It's like you're rt here, in my head. Coming back, just in time to disappear.
Another week, another surgical repair, but it's nice being here for now. But srsly: fuck the [Berkeley] PD
xo
  5:52pm
Ike:

Or to be more specific, what is "The Moment of Truth" and where does it come from?
