Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt came up with the Oblique Strategies. A one point I had a Mac app that would randomly display one when you opened it.

thank you derek. my brain supplied the peter but it kept filling in a different peter's name. there are a few random generator website that you can pull cards on. i use it for prophecy. or new year's or whatever. also studio stuckness.
