my mom had the thriller album when i was a kid too. it was when or soon after cds were gaining speed i think. yeah, it was one of those defining albums for me and my two bros growing up

i was 11 in 1982 and my first 3 record were Thriller, Back in Black by AC/DC and Duke by Genesis.
Apart from the third :) i am glad and proud that at 11yo i have managed to buy two of the greatest records of all time.

Mornin' Miss HR. I'm old enough to remember when the J-5 first broke. I can remember seeing them on the Sullivan show, little Michael in flashy duds and a cap two sizes too big, holding his head just so, to keep the cap from falling down over his face. By the time Thriller came out, I'd already been an FMU listener for 3 years, and what I remember most vividly is how incredibly popular he was. In summer '83, my outgoing answering machine message was, "Hello, you've reached [my phone number] and this has nothing to do with Michael Jackson." Used to crack my friends up.
