Thu. 5/14/09 12:05pm From: The hairless Wookie

Trippy sci-fi space music....just the way I like it.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:05pm From: Georgie Peorgie

Thu. 5/14/09 12:09pm From: Carmichael

Hiya, Scott. I'm here to listen.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:10pm From: Devin

Tuned in.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:10pm From: BSI

aah...
I needed that like I need another whore in my head.
and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
what?

Thu. 5/14/09 12:15pm From: Carmichael

Ya, baby. The Purps.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:15pm From: Ralph

Okay, we get it Zamfir

Thu. 5/14/09 12:16pm From: BSI

*purp*
....here comes another one...

Thu. 5/14/09 12:17pm From: M Hedberg

Every time someone says "another hole in my head", I think why would they want more than one of Courtney Love's band in their head at once?

Thu. 5/14/09 12:22pm From: Comic Book Guy

But, Aquaman, you cannot marry a woman without gills. You're from two different worlds... Oh, I've wasted my life.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:25pm From: J-Mar

So this is different from A Lover and a Friend (of "Reach Out in the Darnkess" fame)?

Thu. 5/14/09 12:27pm From: Scott

Hi J-Mar -- yep, totally different. I gots no idea who those people were. Tony C might know.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:29pm From: hardhotrocker@aol.com

Radar Love by Golden Earring please

Thu. 5/14/09 12:29pm From: J-Mar

Hey, they're both groovy! Excellent show today.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:29pm From: Carmichael

J-Mar, that was "Friend and Lover" (Jim Post and Cathy Conn). I don't know who the heck Lovers and Friends are.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:31pm From: Professor Dum Dum

Aaaaaah! My pipes! Fix my pipes!

Thu. 5/14/09 12:32pm From: J-Mar

Ahhh, thanks for clarifying, Carmichael. I think it's so groovy now that people are finally getting together.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:37pm From: Dylan

JG! My favorite!

Thu. 5/14/09 12:39pm From: Carmichael

Could it be Friends,l Lovers and Family? They're a trance band that does re-make old songs.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:40pm From: Negator

I've characterized Jackie Gleason Orchestra's cannon as "music to drink profusely and shoot yourself in the head to". Even the Christmas record!

Thu. 5/14/09 12:43pm From: Cecile

PURPLE

Thu. 5/14/09 12:44pm From: Cecile

Negator, that is the greatest and most apt misspelling of "canon" ever

Thu. 5/14/09 12:46pm From: darling wife

First page done. Behind schedule, but it's a milestone anyway. 64 misspelled arctics. Breaking for lunch now. I fear it's going to be a late night.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:46pm From: Carmichael

Hey Cecile, how are you feeling?

Thu. 5/14/09 12:48pm From: Cecile

Better, Carm, stilll a little wobbly, but getting stronger every day. Pain is subsiding slowly and steadily. So, all good.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:50pm From: Carmichael

Glad to hear it. And good, government-grade drugs too. All IS good.

Thu. 5/14/09 12:52pm From: Cecile

yes!
and free lavash at the post office. What a life this is.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:02pm From: Carmichael

Last night, this old cowboy came into the guitar store I frequent. He was about 80, with a ratty cowboy hat and missing a finger on his left hand. I wondered how he was going to play guitar at all. He was looking for the Thursday Night Jam, but had the wrong day. So he sat down with his battered Martin and proceeded to play and sing a beautiful old Hank Locklin song. I was floored.

That Red Sovine song you played earlier spurred me to recall this. There aren't too many of these guys left in the world.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:04pm From: Garth

One of my favorite Residents tracks.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:04pm From: Simone

Lavash at the post office ... Samosas at the Chevron station...Scott Williams in my head .. I love it!

Thu. 5/14/09 1:13pm From: annie

this is what i'd love: a dvd of latcho drom....sorry to be off-topic. just watching some scenes from it.. i know i am veering from food..

Thu. 5/14/09 1:22pm From: Carmichael

Samosas ... and there's no Indian restaurants for a million miles around here. Damn you.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:23pm From: annie

so say i..... :(

Thu. 5/14/09 1:31pm From: emmmma

nonsequitir alert: i just heard the other day for the first time and i thought it pretty spectacular:

"Don't pet a burning dog"

Thu. 5/14/09 1:32pm From: J-Mar

Latcho Drom -- yes! I saw it something like 15 years ago and have longed to see it again.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:32pm From: annie

wow.. intense.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:33pm From: annie

i've never seen it and hear the soundtrack alot here and there. a few things on youtube... would love to have the dvd..i'll trade! ....

Thu. 5/14/09 1:41pm From: sahak

woohooo tony and hatch!!!!! i miss them toooo

Thu. 5/14/09 1:46pm From: J-Mar

I can't even tell if Latcho Drom is in print on DVD -- at least not in the U.S. It appears you can get it in other countries, but it won't play on our DVD players because of the region coding. I bet, though, that it came out on VHS when the movie was released. In any case, it really is a wonderful movie -- totally wordless, but brilliantly structured as it follows the migration of Roma people from India westward, and the evolution of their music along the way.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:49pm From: annie

snippets on youtube are beautific and breath-takingly moving. i know it's hard to find.. just saw the train station scene.. ... the rights to it have been closely protected, i like that actually. something not pirated or stolen..

Thu. 5/14/09 1:50pm From: emmma

hehe so cool scott: i haven't heard this dymaxion in years! thanks for making me run shrieking through the house

Thu. 5/14/09 1:51pm From: Glenn L

Luv that Dymaxion & Fly Ashtray.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:52pm From: Ike

Heartily seconded. But I missed the beginning of the show -- what's this about lavash?

Thu. 5/14/09 1:54pm From: annie

cecile is rubbing it in about her gift of free lavash

Thu. 5/14/09 1:55pm From: Marshall Stacks

"Coqboy"? Probably not a nickname Mr. Copas would welcome.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:56pm From: molerat

FWIW, I'm listening on the interweb, but I'm getting a tinny echo.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:57pm From: annie

rat, i thought that was part of the show..

Thu. 5/14/09 1:57pm From: Marshall Stacks

That's the penguin transistor radio.

Thu. 5/14/09 1:58pm From: molerat

oops.

Thu. 5/14/09 2:03pm From: BSI

whew!
Just got back from the big Druid Ocelots' Ear Candling Ritual and Bake Sale... what did I miss?

Thu. 5/14/09 2:10pm From: John Today

Not even resembling the first remark on this page. Whoop Whoop!

Thu. 5/14/09 2:14pm From: Jason T

Latcho Drom was available on VHS. It was at Kim's Video when I worked at the Christopher St store some 15 years ago.

Torrents don't have region encoding - just sayin'.

Thu. 5/14/09 2:16pm From: annie

i waited this long.... i can wait longer.. thanks for the info. tried torrents once, just wasn't my bag, maybe they're diff now

Thu. 5/14/09 2:21pm From: BSI

Great goat-headed mother of cornbread, scott... don't take that loop away from me! NEVAH!

Thu. 5/14/09 2:21pm From: Ike

Torrents usually aren't much good for less well-known or less popular things. There need to be at least a few people seeding an item, or it's an endless drag.

Thu. 5/14/09 2:22pm From: annie

yeah, ike; it's one thing i've heard...

Thu. 5/14/09 2:22pm From: Marshall Stacks

There are three VHS copies of Latcho Drom available on a well-known auction site I won't name. Not cheap, though.

Thu. 5/14/09 2:23pm From: Marshall Stacks

I think I dropped an umlaut or two....

Thu. 5/14/09 2:23pm From: i bet

well, i'll sit tight.. :)

Thu. 5/14/09 2:26pm From: BSI

*gasp*
....my precious loop.......
*koff koff*......

Thu. 5/14/09 2:26pm From: Maria

Thanks for such a great set!!! Made my afternoon.

Thu. 5/14/09 2:29pm From: annie

soon the popcorn gods will be rearing their buttery heads. off to movie-ness for me.. shall stay til the end, though. it's been wonderful..

Thu. 5/14/09 2:33pm From: Bad Ronald

Hey Snoid is a Robert Crumb character!

Thu. 5/14/09 2:35pm From: BSI

Mr. Natural is my co-pilot.

Thu. 5/14/09 2:36pm From: Bad Ronald

Eggs Ackley!

Thu. 5/14/09 2:37pm From: Cecile

Harvey Pekar!

great show

Thu. 5/14/09 2:39pm From: Jason T

I like this Big Blood disc. Was lucky enough to see the release show.

Thu. 5/14/09 2:40pm From: SCott

thanks Maria, Cecile & BSI! Hey BSI, what was the precious loop? Jason T, I envy the piss outta you bro.

Thu. 5/14/09 2:44pm From: BSI

Scott: the precious loop must've been that Planetarium track; a nicely abrasive sonic roll in there, it could've gone on for hours (as farazeim concerned)...

Thu. 5/14/09 2:54pm From: Cecile

primo dronage today. awersome.

Thu. 5/14/09 3:00pm From: GP
