Listener comments!

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 9:13am From: listener jeremy

i like the mellow start you're bringing to my day. that bishop stuff is some good stuff

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 9:18am From: Hatch

Thanks Jeremy. I wish he did more of that Django Reinhardt-style stuff, most of the songs on his first solo album were like that.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 9:20am From: listener jeremy

this alasehir is really good - kind of like russian circles. almost metal, long, and not at all repetative.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 9:24am From: listener jeremy

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 9:31am From: Hatch

Anybody got a fishing tip to share with the audience today?

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 9:33am From: Laurie

Yeah, Hatch. Don't. Go vegetarian!

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 9:35am From: Hatch

I'll accept that.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 9:37am From: ~L

Hi Hatch,
Great music, you're playing this AM!

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 9:54am From: James

Fredo, in The Godfather II said to say a Hail Mary before you cast the fishing line, 'it's the secret' he said. Just before his brother had him shot in the head.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:00am From: Wes

I'll go with James on this one. Say a Hail Mary, but stay out of the mafia, and live to enjoy your catch. No fishing tip, but here's a cooking tip: get a fish griller and cook over hardwood with olive oil and cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic and sea salt.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:01am From: Laurie

I like mine better.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:05am From: Hatch

I like yours better too, Laurie. Sorry James/Wes.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:05am From: James

I'm veggie too, but it's the only fishing tip I know.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:07am From: James

no offence Wes, I'm not a dietry fascist!

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:13am From: Wes

Gang up on me why don't ya. I'm slowly edging towards veggie. Not sure I'd ever give up fish though. Can I be part of the clan if I eat only fish but all else veggie?

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:15am From: north guinea hills

wow, the rev. howard finster. i made a pilgrimage to his paradise gardens back in 1996. a crazy brilliant artist. i believe he passed in 2000

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:15am From: Briezy

Do not listen to a radio of any sorts and don't play any musical instruments by the shore - scares the fish away. You must be silent.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:19am From: Hatch

I disagree Briezy. Listening to WFMU, as loudly as possible, will only make your fishing trips more successful and fulfilling.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:19am From: Laurie

To answer your question, Wes: NO! That's like a guy saying he's not gay because he only has sex with straight men.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:19am From: James

OH hey Wes, I'd even spend a day drifting around a lake on a boat wid ya, drinking whisky and such.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:23am From: James

You can also tell Veggies where to get off by reminding them that dairy farms slaughter male calves as they are worthless to them. So milk and cheese are out if you wanna save the animals.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:27am From: Laurie

That's why I'm vegan, buddy.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:29am From: Wes

Veggies drink soy milk I guess. I do love cheese, every type there is. Greek sheep feta is more humane, perhaps?

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:29am From: Laurie

Also, Louise Brooks was a babe.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:30am From: James

you are an example to us all Laurie.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:31am From: James

I like fried egg sandwiches, but I never drink dairy milk,

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:33am From: hjmaiere

Fishing tip: After you glaze baked salmon with teriyaki sauce, put it briefly under the broiler to make it shiny. (Teryaki literally means shiny grilling.)

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:33am From: Hatch

You're all invited over to my house after the show for corned beef hash and eggs. And milkshakes.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:33am From: Wes

Yeah, milk tastes funny when you don't drink it for a long while, I gave it up. Although it has some magical ability to cool the tongue if your hot pepper dishes get out of hand.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:34am From: Laurie

Eggs smell like body odor. I don't know how people can eat eggs.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:37am From: Laurie

Also, milk is gross, but I was very happy to see Silk Nog at my local Whole Foods. Yay!

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:39am From: Lou in Austin

talk about the election!!! it's FREE form radio, right?

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:40am From: sueb

is chris T a jerk or was that just a bad side i saw?

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:41am From: Hatch

Which side did you see?

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:41am From: meredith

Please don't stop talking about the elections. wfmu is my only source for entertainment AND news!!!

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:41am From: hjmaiere

Fishing tip: A white fish is milder. One can punch up the flavor by breading and frying and topping with a freshly-made marinara sauce.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:42am From: sueb

it was the wrap up party on the fundraiser - maybe the inflated ego side?

or drunk side?

don't know. but he was a bit snooty.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:49am From: Wes

Politics tip: get a rope, hang both sides for treason. start fresh...

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:49am From: T.J.

hahaha Hatch you are the best

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:50am From: Hatch

Sueb, I was looking for "Right" or "Left."

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 10:51am From: dei xhrist

Yes to politics, but give me links so I can read further.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 11:08am From: jojo

Convoy and Black Betty would make great compaign songs with huge cross over appeal

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 11:10am From: Hatch

I think "Convoy" is already the Edwards '08 theme song. Or maybe it's "The Good Ol' Boys," the song from The Dukes Of Hazzard.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 11:12am From: Keith

Bembeya Jazz National is amazing. Almost jam band like...but so much more sublime.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 11:20am From: jojo

I was just talking about the dukes...I think even Dion is a step up from the Hagar Halen used by Kerry, I guess I like my cheese sharp and stinky!

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 11:22am From: Hatch

What was the Hagar Halen song he used? I thought his campaign song was "No Surrender" by Bruce Springsteen.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 11:27am From: jojo

all i remember is "Right Now", it makes my skin crawl thinking of Hagar and his blond glamour fro...

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 11:39am From: jason

isn's there a gram parsons party coming up on his bday somewhere in brooklyn? LIC?

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 11:40am From: Hatch

Maybe? Let us know if you find the details.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 11:57am From: Hatch

Last question: what are you thankful for this year? I am thankful for all y'all listeners who comment live.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 12:00pm From: hjmaiere

Fishing tip: One of the tastiest ways to cook shrimp is in a curried coconut milk sauce. Don't overcook the shrimp. Serve with Saffroned rice. Yum.

P.S. I'm grateful for music.

Tue Nov. 13, 2007 12:02pm From: Laurie

I am thankful for the idea of curried coconut milk sauce. I will use it on sweet potatoes, I think.
