The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

Yeah, no doubt that he's deep in a legal morass. But you know how this screwy legal system has a way of exploiting loopholes in the sneakiest of ways. Weinstein's chances of having his case turned over are barely close to 50/50. I'll even bet he's following the Trump trial to see what dirty tricks he could pull on the court to get himself off easy.

KNAC's progressive rock show was sublime. I might have heard Seventh Sojourn earlier, but the light went on for me when I spied a 8-track of Close to the Edge in a neighbor's VW. He was high school, I was elementary school. He loaned it to me. Instantly, my friends and I were hooked.

I just wrapped up teaching a class to law students. Earlier in the semester a student--early 20s--appeared in class with a Townes Van Zandt t-shirt. He knew of TVZ from growing up in Houston, where the stunning double live LP was recorded. I advised him to check out the last live disc near the end of Townes' life, McCabe's guitar store in LA. It's a bittersweet document.

Another student came to class wearing a Metallica Kill 'Em All t-shirt. I'd seen the band around that time with Mustaine at the Whisky. This student--not a kid, but a very young adult--wasn't even born yet.

I have a weird relationship w/ the Moody Blues. On one hand, I like their music. OTOH, when my uni gf's father died, even though we broke up after she cheated on me, she inisted on flying me up to rochester (from FL) to be w/ her for the funeral. (awkward, spent most of my time there w/ her brother, and her best friend who used to hate me). since the Moody Blues was her father's favorite band, on the drive down back to FL (in her new car), we mostly listened Moody Blues cds) (long talkless drive back)
