	10:34pm Dean: KNAC's progressive rock show was sublime. I might have heard Seventh Sojourn earlier, but the light went on for me when I spied a 8-track of Close to the Edge in a neighbor's VW. He was high school, I was elementary school. He loaned it to me. Instantly, my friends and I were hooked. I just wrapped up teaching a class to law students. Earlier in the semester a student--early 20s--appeared in class with a Townes Van Zandt t-shirt. He knew of TVZ from growing up in Houston, where the stunning double live LP was recorded. I advised him to check out the last live disc near the end of Townes' life, McCabe's guitar store in LA. It's a bittersweet document. Another student came to class wearing a Metallica Kill 'Em All t-shirt. I'd seen the band around that time with Mustaine at the Whisky. This student--not a kid, but a very young adult--wasn't even born yet.

He was high school, I was elementary school. He loaned it to me. Instantly, my friends and I were hooked. I just wrapped up teaching a class to law students. Earlier in the semester a student--early 20s--appeared in class with a Townes Van Zandt t-shirt. He knew of TVZ from growing up in Houston, where the stunning double live LP was recorded. I advised him to check out the last live disc near the end of Townes' life, McCabe's guitar store in LA. It's a bittersweet document. Another student came to class wearing a Metallica Kill 'Em All t-shirt. I'd seen the band around that time with Mustaine at the Whisky. This student--not a kid, but a very young adult--wasn't even born yet.
