Favoriting April 2, 2024: The Wiggle Room w/ BC Sterrett Presents: "Music for Chinese Hopping Vampires"
I've been on a huge Vangelis, Tangerine Dream and Brian Eno kick for the past year or so. Mostly because I keep finding their music in Chinese Vampire films from the 80's and 90's, (probably due to the gray area copyright laws in foreign countries at the time.) I've been obsessed with Chinese Vampires (aka Jiangshi) ever since 1986, when I first watched the film "Reigen Doushi" aka "Mr. Vampire" at a sleepover in 5th Grade while living in Kobe, Japan. It was in Cantonese with Japanese subtitles but it didn't matter. I've been collecting these films ever since AND the associated toys and memorabilia. This is an audio trip back to my childhood obsession, for my recent 48th birthday that took place a couple days ago :) Instead of photos of the albums, I will be posting pictures of my VHS copies/posters of the films the songs are featured in, from my personal collection.

I wonder if pt. 2 is pt. 1 for Koreans. It is the first film of the series to use the title "Hello Dracular" (SIC) fixing the spelling as "Hello Dracula."

0:18:51 (MP3 | Pop-up)
Brian Eno  Alternative 3   Favoriting Music For Films  CD  Featured in the film "Devil Fetus," not necessarily a Chinese vampire film but it does use a forehead talisman to counter a demon possession, a tactic used on Chinese vampires.

A couple samples from this full length version can be found in the film "Flower Heart Hit Ghost (1990)," if you pay close attention :)

Tangerine Dream  Phaedra   Favoriting Phaedra  CD  As featured in "Gravedigger," a Korean film that was later spliced into the movie "Zombie vs. Ninja" by shlock meister Godfrey Ho. This track is ALSO featured in "Ghosts Hospital" and many others. The Phaedra album appears ALOT in these films. Too long to play these TD tracks in their entirety on this episode, but maybe someday I'll do a pt. 2 of this theme in the future. This track will fade out when our time is up. I'll be back for a special fill-in extra episode of something different on the last/fifth Tuesday of April, and then back again the first Tuesday again in May. Until next time!

Oxygene also used in war movie Gallipoli.
Totally didn't make sense in that context.

Chinese vampire movies :) Japan is just obsessed with them, and creates the most toys and products based on these films.

Thanks for listening in folks :) My wife wont usually watch these films with me. Her eyes glaze and she does something else when I watch these movies.
