Hi, Kat! The sun came out here too, but so much snow fell. It's going to take a couple of days of sunshine to melt it.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Krys O. @8:06
The good thing about modern 90s Nostalgia: like all the previous Nostalgia fads, the kids get it all wrong, and the people who were there all roll their eyes. So at least Nostalgia is consistent.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:10pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Krys O. @8:08
That Chuck Klosterman book - "The 90's" - is essentially making the point that what we all remember about the 90's is wrong, and getting the 90's right is pretty hard these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
Krys O.:

↳ Austin Rich @8:10
Is that a corollary to the adage that if you remember the 60s, you weren't there?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Krys O. @8:11
Ha! Good point!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
Austin Rich:

What I remember about the 90's was how much slower paced life was. It was the last decade that informed what the internet would be, rather than the internet informing what the outside world would be like when you leave the house, the way it sort of is now.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm

I've heard that pronunciation occasionally in old noir movies or B films from the 40s and 50s. I think Arlo Guthrie sang it that way for the song Los Angeles, right?
Avatar 🎸 8:15pm
MarkTime:

↳ Austin Rich @8:13
Indeed! I neglected to look up the reason for that pronunciation
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:18pm

That's the only association I have (old movies where they did this).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm

There's a lot of old stars that the kids don't know about. We need to bring old movies to the kids! But how...?

Can we use Tik Tok for this function? (I think this proves how little I know about Tik Tok, but I'm hopeful...)
Avatar 🎸 8:34pm
MarkTime:

↳ Krys O. @8:31
We knew of him in the 1960s, and that's witsh the distraction of so many drunk acts, such as Foster Brooks, the Otis Campbell character, and to a certain extent Dean Martin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Krys O.:

↳ Austin Rich @8:33
Tik Tok would be effective. I was lucky enough to watch his movies on TV as a kid in the 60s and 70s.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Austin Rich:

There's a great podcast by Karina Longworth, who is an old Hollywood nerd who is a few years younger than me, and SHE was lamenting on her podcast that the kids are not hip to old movies. Maybe her podcast is helping? I quite enjoy it and her style. But I do think that interest in that era is not a strong as it once was.
