Good morning Brian, tom and whoever else is out there! Hope it's been a good week. I started the weekend off nicely by driving to Pori to see Fred Frith and Susanna Santos Silva do a beautiful concert. Now about to do the usual Saturday house cleaning to the sound of Currents.

TDK60:

Of course, the slaughter in Gaza remains the top world story. Destruction and death continue, thanks in large part to the arms of the USA, sent by the Democrat regime in DC. The US Weimar liberal class in media and academics spread lies, obfuscation, a new McCarthyism. Mendacity and complicity--these are theme words of the USA for year 2024. Yet, hats off to South Africa for standing up for the right thing by taking Israel to the International Court of Justice on genocide charges. Shout-out too, to the Service Employees International Union and United Auto Workers for calling for a ceasefire.
  6:38am
tom tom the pipers son:

it was unclear to me why the court in the hague didn't call for a ceasefire, but called for everything but, giving a green light and leaving it up to international "community" fmr plo rep on democracy now seemed satisfied with the ruling

re: celtic sentimentality, i'm half irish and recognize this trait and somehow feel compelled to share this, maybe more a case of stupidity than culture.... was in a essay writing class at the new school a long time ago and there was an irish guy in his twenties, probably, in the class, he wrote an essay about him being in nato forces during the serbian conflict and witnessed a man being taken hostage, he said witnessed the hostage's throat being slit, then the bard said "and it was my birthday" the class was speechless.
